Off-Grid Living in a 4x4 Van | Eastern Sierra Mountains 

Nikki, I watched your video the other day about Camper getting the foxtail in his nose. I had never heard of that before, but yesterday morning my dog Harley started sneezing. After hearing him sneeze about 4 times, I went to check on him and I noticed a small amount of blood spray on the blanket he was lying on. I got my flashlight and looked at his nostrils and saw a small amount of blood in his left nostril. I took him to the vet and they kept him to do a nose probe and they did find a foxtail. Thank you for posting your videos. Harley thanks you too.

You should call out the litterbugs Nikki, I never get it why people leave their trash when its easy to just put in a bag and toss in the next avail can. Leave no trace is not hard to do. Always leave things a little better than you found it! ❤

Okay, Camper is the main draw for me but I love that you remind people to leave no trace when out and about. We've gone to campsites and spent the first hour cleaning up garbage before setting up our camp. And yes, your wolf t-shirt is hella cool. Safe travels!

Camper is thinking, "Um Mom, please crank the AC, I'm wearing a God given fur coat!"🤣 47 years ago, mid 70's, shortly after I graduated high school I went to Outward Bound for a month in the Gore Range of Colorado, near Vail. At 17 it was an incredible experience that drove me into the mountains and even way back then we were taught to to leave no trace of being there and clean up after others who didn't.

My dog had the same thing. His was lodged behind his ear. I'm so glad you got it early. Poor guy. He has such a good mom❤ Your heading to one of my favorite areas. Thank you for reminding to leave no trace. Those amazing views are worth protecting. Enjoy

This was just what I needed, a mental vacation to my ole stomping grounds, down the scenic 395 corridor !! And you never know, Camper D. may have had a bad experience, bitten by a horse fly, sometime in the past. Yes, the brain damaging amoeba may be lurking, beware. And too much self-isolation may cause one to behave like a 'lunatic'....hehe....take care and travel on !!

Loving your travels in the new van! Camper being afraid of flies cracks me up! My dog is scared of bees in the car, and when we did a 3-month road trip to AK and Canada in 2018 the horseflies up north were the size of my thumb. I was sure he'd be scared of them but he hated them biting him SO MUCH, he bit them back! He would actively hunt them down in the back of the car as I drove away from each stop where the door was opened and more got inside! Dogs are just THE BEST. ❤

My puppy just came home from surgery on his back paw. A foxtail got in between his digits and it went out, but left pieces in his paw that were so painful. I’d never heard of them before and now I’m hearing about them everywhere. Be on the lookout for these terrible things.

Foxtails are everywhere in my area and any dog owner who encounters them should purchase a outfox hood and train your dog to wear it. Total peace of mind after. My dog took to it right away but you can train them with treats inside the hood to start.

Oh bless Camper hiding from the flies, my dog was very unsettled by flies, moths etc. and I had to get them out of the room or he would be frantic. So pleased he is doing so well. I love the way you promote clean ethics, people should listen and follow your lead xx

Poor Camper! 😢 My girl does the same with flies as him when we are out camping. She'll try to get under things to hide from them. It's difficult to calm her down and get her comfortable so I feel for him and you.

Nikki, I just want to say thank you for the hard work you put into these videos!! They are a huge reason why I knew I wanted to become an OTR trucker and a RU-vidr. My YT presence is teensy at the moment, but every time I watch your videos, I see what is possible if I keep working to make the content more interesting and consistent. I also totally daydream about living in a converted Sprinter like this, someday when I'm done with trucking. I love having a more transient, simpler and lower-impact life (although trucking itself isn't exactly "low impact," but that's another story). Wondering if you get those overhead shots with a drone? I was just noticing those today and going, "wow, it's SO awesome she gets those shots!!" Side note on the LNT ethics: I spend home time in Chicago, where I lived before moving into a truck full-time. When I'm home, I always go to my favorite beach as it is absolutely beautiful in all seasons and is my happy place. The irony is that the summer is my least favorite time to go, because it infuriates me how much garbage people leave on the beach every night ... within literal FEET of the numerous garbage and recycling bins. I can't imagine going to a beautiful place and consciously trashing it. But like you, I try to do some cleanup every time I'm there! Thank you again, you're doing an amazing job!!😀🙌

Just got back from boon docking (Tacoma truck) in the Eastern Sierra. My favorite and much cooler spots were up by June Lake which I'm sure your familiar with. So so many beautiful spots, such great weather and minimal bugs (unlike Utah)! I'm new to vanlife and love every moment of your videos. Thank you!

It's funny because Alabama Hills is like the most "played out" overlander and van lifer spot, and you expect it to be overhyped, but it really is _that_ good. I love it out there. Unfortunate that people suck and got so much if it shut down to camping.

Sweetheart, have you considered getting mosquito netting. With magnetic attachments. To assist in shade and bug deterrence? It just needs to be long enough to reach mid tire. And cover all windows and walk in door.

We were tent camping and when we went through the campground where you are the signs said, "BEWARE OF RATTLESNAKES". So we camped up the hill at the portal campground. That journey through there is one I hope to repeat someday!

One good thing with the van life…if you have annoying neighbors…just drive to a better area. If you rent an apartment…there are leases and not easy to just move. I wish I could have the van life. I need some peace and quite in my life. And some sleep!!!
