** Note: I've made some corrections regarding the hex key and the batteries (which are deep cycle lead acid, not AGM) in another video found here: • Episode 7 - Apologies,...
After receiving my OGT Expedition 2.0 trailer this week, I wanted to do a walk around video for anyone who is also looking for a similar set up.
If you're interested in building and pricing your own trailer, check out their website at www.offgridtra... and use code 1824 to get $250US off your trailer order.

Just started looking at the Off Grid trailers today, especially this model. As someone living in the South, you showed me everything I needed to know about the trailer. I was especially interested in the ability to have air conditioning. Thank you very much! Subscribed!

I have the Pando 2.0 and I'm heading to Idaho tomorrow. I pull it with a 392 Jeep Rubicon. I had to extend the hitch bar so I could open the rear door all the way and yes I had to purchase a 3 foot 7-way extension cable. I had to modify the Propex heater so it would start above 9,000 feet. Warning - it will not start above 9,000 feet. To fix this, I had to reset the regulator pressure and Propex Engineering (in England) provided me with a special exhaust component that fixed the problem. I also added a 100W solar panel and a Renogy MPPT charge controller and battery monitor. Now the batteries are under charge while I'm driving. It is extremely difficult to access the battery compartment for maintenance and repair. I 100% agree with the freezer upgrade. I have the Dometic and use it as a refrigerator only but I have a Dometic CFX75 in the back of my Jeep which is a dual compartment unit. The mattress was too thin for me while sleeping so I had to buy a 36x72" memory foam mattress. And lastly I did not like the shiny powder coating on the storage panels and storage box so I applied a matt black vinyl car wrap to them all - that eliminated all the smudges and finger prints.

Nice! How do you feel about the galley being in the rear with what amounts to a beer fridge? I dig the extra prep space having in the rear like that, but that fridge was a turn off for me.
@finfish260
@finfish260 2 года назад
@@ExpeditionOverlanding LOL - I use the fridge only as a storage locker. I like the prep space but it's not enough when preparing a big meal so, like most folks, I carry an extra table with folding legs. The 2 burner Dometic stove is nice but you can't fit two fry pans on it at the same time so I still carry my Coleman stove. The USB port and light switch are located right next to the right burner and grease splatters up on them when cooking - those need to be moved. I don't use any of the lights because they attract the biggest moths ever. The lights in the galley and over each door need to be amber so they don't attract bugs.
@ExpeditionOverlanding
@ExpeditionOverlanding 2 года назад
@@finfish260 Yeah. The lighting was an issue for me, too, until I covered them with yellow lamin-x gels. I go over that in episode 9 found ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JeoCPWlSfZ4.html if you're interested in seeing more.

Check your trailer hitch height before installing the max coupler inverted on your tow vehicle. It should be at 21”. For me, in a 2021 diesel JLUR Rubicon on 2” lift with 35’s, I had to get a 2 inch drop hitch (as opposed to flipping the hitch to the “rise” option).
@ExpeditionOverlanding
@ExpeditionOverlanding 2 года назад
Good point. I know the OGT videos mention that as well. The goal is to get the droop to 18" or less when the trailer is attached. I have a 3 1/4" drop hitch which, when installed, measures 22" without the trailer attached. The droop puts it between 18-19" on my 4Runner.

Looks good. I got mine almost a year ago. Only two issues I've had so far is finding the sight glass that shows the water level (your video helped with that), and an error blinking signal on my furnace. I was told that you could leave the trailer charging full time when its not in use, but I found that an excessive charge disengages the furnace electronic start and you have to do a hard reset to clear the error.
@ExpeditionOverlanding
@ExpeditionOverlanding 2 года назад
Interesting. I haven't had a chance to use my furnace yet, but you've just saved me some cycles when I do. Thanks!
@seanmason5535
@seanmason5535 2 года назад
@@ExpeditionOverlanding I noticed a blinking red light on the control panel located in the cab where you start the furnace. It only happens when my volt meter in the cab indicates north of 14 volts. I just remove shore power and do a hard reset by pushing the button on the top middle of the furnace behind a rubber coated plug.

Nice video. Did you consider getting the Pando? If so, what made you decide on the expedition and how has it been towing it with the 4Runner?
@ExpeditionOverlanding
@ExpeditionOverlanding 2 года назад
I looked at the Pando, but I'm not a fan of the galley in the rear and the increased weight. The Expedition met all my requirements and was priced right compared to similar offerings. The 4R does fine towing the Expedition at lower speeds, but struggles to keep it at or above 70.

Why is the propane line next to the exhaust line?
@ExpeditionOverlanding
@ExpeditionOverlanding 5 месяцев назад
Got me, but it's not been an issue. The heat coming out of the exhaust isn't hot enough to burn anything outside (it's only used with the furnace which is only going if it's crazy cold outside.)
@meta4282
@meta4282 Год назад
Nice. I personally prefer not to have a departure angle, this frees up more usable space at the back with a full galley and a sideswing out door that acts as a wind break. The awning will swing out overhead to cover you.
@ExpeditionOverlanding
@ExpeditionOverlanding Год назад
The angle has really only helped me once on some steep trails, but another thing to consider is the need for a hitch extension if you planned to carry anything at the rear of the trailer. I recently learned this on my last camping trip where I brought my eBike.
@DaisyBelleJeepGirl
@DaisyBelleJeepGirl Год назад
You would likely be interested in the Pando 2.0 or 3.0 which has the galley in the rear. E.0 Pando has some important improvements to meet all RVIA standards. Check it out. That's what I'm looking at. Made by OGT. Need a 4dr to tow as dry weight is approx 2-2.2k lbs max Gross 3500 lbs perfect for the JL 4 DR which 3500 lb max.

Have you had a chance to take it out yet? I am curious how the 4runner goes down the highway with it. I have a similar small trailer and my 4runner struggles with it at highway speeds not to mention if it starts to point uphill.
@ExpeditionOverlanding
@ExpeditionOverlanding 2 года назад
I've driven it 150 miles so far (I'll explain in my next video that I'll be uploading tomorrow) and I struggled to keep it up to the highway speed limit (75). I burned through an entire tank of gas taking it that far as it's basically a giant wind block.

@Dracoz74
@Dracoz74 2 года назад
Can you leave the it plugged in and operate everything off shore power? Say as you travel to your main destination and just stop at a KoA or something. That way it keeps the batteries charged?
@ExpeditionOverlanding
@ExpeditionOverlanding 2 года назад
Although I haven't used it for more than boondocking so far (I will be taking it to a state park next weekend which has electricity, so I'll be testing out shore power usage), you can run everything off shore power if it's available. The only caveat is that you have to have the inverter on if you plan to use the 110v outlets.
