Careful we don't end up knowing the price of everything but ignore the value of it. Those that this trailer is aimed at will be quite pleased, those that DIY and make do will not.
@@metaxaanabeer Nah, it's just way over priced and some people just don't care how much it is, they just want it. I understand seeing the value in things, I just don't understand it here.
Awesome video. My Brother purchased one of these a few months ago and has camped and wheeled with it several times and absolutely loves it. Quality of materials is unmatched. Very well made.
Our Canadian manufacturers are making great off-grid/off-road trailers - competing with the US, South African and Australians very well. Pricey! Yes but Buy Once - Cry Once!
Great video… The naysayers obviously haven’t seen one of these trailers in person and fail to realize the build quality, plus the all inclusive top of the line equipment included as standard equipment. All of which makes your extended off grid trips far more enjoyable, especially since you’re able to spend more time exploring remote destinations as opposed to dealing with unexpected repairs experience by owners of cheap knockoffs. There’s a reason OGT owners love their trailers and aren’t afraid to venture off grid thru areas other shy away from… Talk to anyone who’s spent some time exploring off grid and they’ll all tell you the same thing, Do Not Buy an Off Grid Trailer or Camper Built Using Wood, because it won’t last thru the abuse of off-road travel.
Its very turn key, ready to go, everything just works. And this is far from the most expensive trailers out there. There is something for everyone out there.
Looks good! I’ve been researching off road trailers for a while now and I keep coming back to them. It seems they have the best build quality for the price I can find.
Easy to access fuses my arse. Good luck changing one if you can reach them. That electrical system whilst tidy enough, looks like a nightmare to have to service or work on.
When climbing in, you need to kneel on the diamond plate fender - that really hurts my knees. So I carry one of those garden kneeling pads to eliminate the pain. The LED lights over the doors are very bright but they attract the biggest bugs you will ever want to see and they fly right into the trailer. To prevent that, you need to cover them with that automotive self-sticking Amber film. The Propex heater will not ignite above 10,000 feet. There is a simple (easy to install) part that will fix that and Propex, England will mail it to you at no charge. The pressure regulator may also need adjusting up to 13 IWC. It's amazing how cool this trailer stays when parked in the sun. I just spent 5 weeks camping in Bear country and I felt safe the whole time. A bear almost ate me a few years ago while tent camping in the same area and this is why I diched the tent.
@Joe Timmons Too close for comfort and close enough for me to have my finger on my locked & loaded Glock .45. I was ready to let 15 rounds fly. I usually have trip alarms set up around my tent, but I was so tired from hiking that day I fell asleep without setting them. My Razor Edge knife made for a quick exit from the side of the tent. $350 down the drain! It was my fault for leaving my Coleman stove open near my tent. I guess the grease smell was the target. Although I have a trailer now, I'm trying the Pine Sol kitchen cleaner spray, and I keep the galley door closed. Reports say they don't like that stuff.
Was looking seriously at these guys a couple years ago. The price was right for the quality and was equipped nicely. My issues were weight and width...just too heavy and too wide. If you are looking to buy an off road teardrop...you will need to be ready to pay for one.
Great video Casey! I can't wait for these videos because I've been thinking about getting a trailer instead of weighing my vehicle down but I'm not sure how hard to push them or what kinda trails you can go onto with these
Nice, that's definitely one of the two trailers I have been looking at, so it will be nice to see some of your real world experiences using it in the next few weeks. Oh.. and Gratx on 50k subs Casey!
@@OffGridTrailers It's not a knock on the price of the trailer, just how prices and inflation have risen so insanely in the past year or two It is extremely well built. The one I rented had over 10,000 miles on it trouble free according to the owner.
Curious to see how you fit in the sleeping area, have noticed trailers are short. Can’t wait to see how the eco diesel handles towing. Looks interesting.
I bought one of these 3 years ago for $30k and sold it for $30k after a year of not using it (long story). I was impressed with the build quality, but $50k is simply ridiculous and likely reflects their position to "price not to win". Also, no A/C or grey/black water system for $50k! I am happy to see they relocated the power turn-on switch. In my version, I had to hire a carney to use their mini hands to switch the power on.
Considering you can dish out 40k on a full JXL conversion / Goose Gear / Redarc / BB it's a great option if you want to keep the interior OEM. Just priced one out at 42k USD... It's something to consider. I wonder how it holds up in the extreme winters.
Very nice trailer - seems very comfy and off-road capable. However, the kitchen components seemed to be scattered all over the place - some in the back on the shelves, grill on the side towards the back, and the fridge on the side towards the front. Don’t they offer a full kitchen setup at the rear of the trailer?
a lot of questions. the trailers great but what did you do to make jeep could pull it. like what gearing. since you have a newer jeep the older jks transmissions just suck for mountain traveling.
Ehhhh I want one, we all want one but $50k!! Its like owning two jeeps but one one can only be used realistically 4 months of the year (well in my area where we get 4’ snow). Ahh I will take my 15k budget build. Maybe it wont last as long but I could buy 3.
Looks cool. Similar to what's available here in Australia. Gotta ask though, where are all the random bolts from, on floor under the bed and in the cupboard with awning walls?
What are you thoughts about this kind of trailer vs. something like an Airstream Basecamp 16x that would run you about the same amount of money but provide indoor shower, toilet, and kitchen?
Love the video Casey! I’m interested in any overheating issues for you? Did you make any cooling upgrades ? I have a 2021 Diesel JLU Rubicon and would be interested in what cooling options you have heard of available, I have not found much. I have not had any overheating issues but do plan to get a trailer at some point so keeping cool is #1. Thanks as always for the great content.
Nice trailer if I could make a suggestion if you could please hold your camera more steady when you walk around it's hard to watch because the camera you seem to be moving too fast. If you watch Trail recron with Brad when he walks with his camera very steady and everything he shows walking around with his camera is not moving fast at all. But love your RU-vid
Thanks. Brad uses a gimbal. It doesn't fit my style, too much setup and configuration. Its all run and gun unscripted vlogd for me. Appreciate the feedback.
I once rented the original Expedition model, when the company was still owned by it's founder. It was very similar to this Expedition 2.0 but had some minor differences. I really enjoyed my trip with the trailer and agree it was super comfortable to sleep in. My major issue with it now that the company has new ownership (its been several years since that happened) is that the customer service has tanked and the prices keep going up up up. The original founder of Off Grid sold the company and started another company called Mission Overland, that creates trailers similar to these that have a more thought out design that are far more user friendly inside.
Hey Jason, I am sorry you have a bad experience with our customer service. We are a growing team who strives to put customer service as our top priority. I am not sure about the timeframe you had the bad experience, but I assure you that it would no longer be the case. Thank you, OGT
@@Casey250 We chase glaciers in northern BC, Yukon and NWT (when allowed) We often end up having to turn around and go back on a narrow, poorly maintained abandoned mine access road. I use those furniture movers, the kind that go under the furniture and slip over your forearms. Just unhitch, move the trailer around so it points backwards now and next figure out how to swap directions in the tow vehicle. I'm in my 70's so anyone should be able to do it. Mind, my teardrop weighs 1,200 wet.And my wife is ready with the wheel chocks. Learned that the hard way.
I live in a small town in Pennsylvania and before the price of houses went up, you could get a nice little house in town for $50 grand. Nope. Way too expensive. Not even close to my price range. All this offroading stuff is waaaaaaay more expensive than it should be.
Starting at $31k USD? Umm I will wait for someone to sell theirs. I could buy a nicely used 5th wheel that sleeps 7+ (which I would need anyways with 4 kids). Blessed to those that can afford it but too much for what you get IMHO. Obviously a lot going on with a lot of engineering to make it fit on a small platform and be so capable at the same time.
But on the other side of things my Jeep cost twice as much as the trailer. Its all about what fits for you. I'm happy to show off a little of everything for everyone.
These are really nice trailers... but 50k... that's fucking outrageous. Not even a bathroom? You can buy a full sized trailer for that..... just because it can go off road doesn't mean the price should be overly inflated. Again, cool and nice product but... yeah, way over priced for what it is.
