The Xenopuck is the best puck I've ever seen for off ice training. Same weight and size as a regular puck (but noticeably thicker), and it slides nearly like a regular puck on ice. It slides so well that it's bizarre to use. Even better than the green biscuit. It is $18 a puck, which is actually middle of the road for these prices. The xenopuck is also one single material, which is a super durable hard plastic, so you don't have the issues with it falling apart like the green biscuit tends to do. Only problem is that you can't shoot it at a human, because it is so hard. Though, I've heard that they are working on another softer version.

you're probably recovered fully from that ankle injury now, but if you are still looking for a way to practice stickhandling off ice, you can buy a large shooting pad and a fly puck to use at home. I dont have any surfaces at my house that are good for stickhandling, so I bought a 4 by 8 shooting pad which simulates ice. Even when you are playing and going to practices etc, I find it helps a lot to just stickhandle on it for 10 minutes a day and it is fun too. You could get both for

Should i be using a stick that is cut shorter than the one i use on the ice?

Ball is light and way easier to move and control (I play both ice hockey and ball hockey). You'll need to build up some wrist strength. Use an old stick or one you don't really care about and tape some hockey pucks to the end of it and stick handle a bit. Also, look up how to make a Wrist Blaster to help you more with wrist strength.

Swedish hockey balls focus more on speed, where smart hockey balls focus more on the weight/feel of a puck. So it really depends on what you're trying to train for in my opinion.

Now that I can control the ball better, do I just keep doing this everyday to gain muscle strength in my left shoulder? Or is there actual exercises with weights for this particular thing?

This might seem like a stupid question, but what kind of ball are you using? LaCross and tennis balls are terrible for this

Help anyone? I prefer to have my dominatnt hand nearer the middle and control the stick with that hand, is this wrong? and do i need to change?
@T_Ralphhh
@T_Ralphhh 8 лет назад
Your strong hand should be on top, and your actually supposed to control the puck (stick handle) with your top hand as well.

Wrong. You are not embracing the ball like you should.. Your stick is staying vertical.. You arent twisting your primary wrist like you should to really cradle the ball

no offense but that is terrible grip on shaft
@MrHaydentheawesome
@MrHaydentheawesome 8 лет назад
No it's not, that's how you are supposed to stick handle, you probably don't have the strength to stick handle further up the shaft.
