A British army officer once told me "Landrovers go really well when they aren't broken down".

Sitting in my cool basement office and seeing everyone out in the snow when your first got to camp made me start to shiver. :-) We have just a little more snow outside at the moment.

Looked like fun Steve, maybe a wee bit chilly for my old bones though.🥶 That, along with the off-road challenge video, would make a great LandRover advert. Not only was it performing really well, you'd be way more comfortable, and warm, than anyone else.👍👌😁

Yours may well be my favorite channel but the only thing I can't get my head around is how such a nice guy can afford such a great collection of vehicles !

Just my impressions, my $0.02, take it for what it's worth. He hosted a live-stream a while back where people pelted him with questions. It was epic and we learned a bunch about our host. Steve is a mechanical engineer with his own engineering firm where they refurbish aircraft parts (among other things). That alone explained quite a bit about his work ethic and resources. Aside from that, my impression from watching these videos is that Steve is extremely smart, has a great memory, and is frugal, when he's not working, he's blowing cash on cars, not some other hobby, he's either working, wheeling or fixing cars. He would rather fix a car than sit and watch someone else work, he plays his private life close to his vest, and is humble. Further, I assume he must be really good at negotiating when buying cars and he must put a lot of work into finding the interesting cars he likes at the right prices, and he's been at this for a long time. I figure he's been collecting cars for 20ish years or so, and if you spent a few grand for some car twice a year, and had the space, skills and wills to repair and refurbish them, you would amass a large collection of awesomeness too. Also remember, the barn sprites, he found 6 in one shot, so add all that together and you wind up with a warehouse full of cool vehicles.

I can't imagine having trouble living in that tank of a truck. I think it'd survive anything nature'd throw at it

Always remember, smaller tires bite better in snow. I had a 94 Toyota with street tires. When we had a 2 foot snow, I was making it just fine. All the big Blazers and pickups on mudders were sliding into ditches everywhere.

Max speed 50 MPH? I don't remember that on the M109 shop van that was my workplace for over 2 years. I drove it faster than that on the autobahn, but not a lot faster. We always put the slowest vehicle, an M151 jeep in the front of the convoy and 50 MPH was about the max for the slowpoke 71 horsepower jeep. I only tuned in to see how you set up your M109A3 for winter camping. Once I slept on the right side workbench, and my co-worker slept on the left workbench. We were parked at the firing line of a tank gunnery range, and the muzzle blasts rocked the truck all night long. A LOT of movement front to back. If the window shades didn't block out most of the muzzle flash, I never would have gotten any sleep. I found out the hard way, if you're zipped up tight in a mummy bag, you can't put your hands out to break your fall if you roll off a workbench. The good news is, there's no where else to fall to once you're on the floor. I'm always looking for the good side of a bad situation. And my shoulder wasn't broken. That's good.

That made a change Steve. I reckon you really "chilled " out !😨 I did do this once 21 years back!😨 l did enjoy but l prefer asphalt ! The Landrover did very well but l noticed the front screen was cracked . I guess that was the body flexing . Over here in the uk . Some one knocked over a snowman with their car BUT the snow man was made around a sturdy tree trunk ! Oops ! Thanks Steve.
@ThisWeekWithCars

Screen was cracked when I bought it, vehicles with windscreens that are near vertical do not last long here with all the stuff they put on the road in the winter.

Hi Steve, everyone thinks they can better the manufacturer, mmmmm, no they can't!!. also, that 'buzzer' ....HAS TO GO (pilots have to bear the same sort of noise under duress too) I know why its there, but you can't concentrate or hear anything else. Arh, the chicken dinner, eerrrrr, looked rubbish, glad it tasted okay. Cheers from down under.

Looked tremendous fun. LRovers are great if the CDL and TC are working. For a bit of added traction , would snow chains help? Might have saved the Bronco driver's blushes.
@ThisWeekWithCars

Snow chains would make it unstoppable, I do not have a set but maybe I should consider it for next time!
@peterknight4692
@peterknight4692 3 года назад
@@ThisWeekWithCars They aren't expensive so if you intend to keep using LRovers offroad it would be worth getting a set for that wheel size. I believe they can also help in mud - for the rest of the year's offroad antics.
