Get your welder to create a stand for the old white tank that is higher than the firetrucks tank. This way you can use gravity to fill even faster. Maybe have a rain catcher going into the old tank to keep it full.

So Matt your F-350 is actually rated to haul 4,967 lbs in the bed. The whole 1 ton, 3/4 ton, 1/2 ton nomenclature is way out dated. There is one configuration of the F-350 that can actually haul 7,278 lbs in the bed.

FYI your "1 Ton" F350 can haul around 6,000 pounds in the back safely (you can look this up on fords website). The tonnage designation hasn't applied to hauling capacity since the 70's. It's just used for labeling now. That firetruck can probably haul a lot more than 2.5 tons!

If these guys don’t fix this Toyota in one-2 days I’ve lost hope for Holden bros lol. Easiest truck to work on I could fix it my self in 3 hours even with a crack manifold. Toyotas are to easy and these guys don’t need to complicate it more than it actually is. I’ve blown head gaskets and cracked manifolds it’s not a big job…

Fire Truck should always be full and at all events ready for emergencies. Also, fill it with a massive first aid kit, and set reminders to check that kit quarterly. I'd even say put solar on the tank and a small inverter for electricity. AND MORE LIGHTS!

Your firetruck is rated to carry a full size liquid tank. These often have water or fuel tanks on the back for logistical support. That water tank you have is like 1/5 the size.

You just built a massive shop that you can use to collect rain water. Plumb that to elevated containment tanks. It'll work just like the chicken watering system. As others have said you'll want large diameter/multiple outlets on those storage tanks to fill the truck faster. Also, baffle balls work great for managing the slosh and are easier than fixed baffles.

Small farms and small town fire stations use retired water truck tanks and raise them, with 4" hose you could fill that tank in minutes.

25 year wildland fire veteran here. Get yourself a foam injector, your water will do a lot more with less with just .5% or less foam fluid in it as the surface tension will be a lot less and if (heaven forbid) you ever have a car fire or fuel fire you can crank it up to 2% or more and snap on a foam nozzle and get actual foam which is also great for laying down wet lines in advance of a fire front to stop it advancing (like around a structure for example).

Put the white tank in the air like a little water tower. Use gravity to feed the trucks water tank. Hook it up to your rain water system with a float shut off so it can just stay full all the time. Also paint the tank black to keep algae from growing.

Get another tank like the one you already have. Place them ( or more) beside the new bunker hq and use the rainwater from that BIG roof to fill it. Free water to do whatever you want with!

Matt, Texas A&M Forrest Service has courses you can take to help you understand more about Engaging wildfires and prevention, they have videos on here about your Stewart aswell. Always remember fight from the black and always leave yourself enough in the tank to get yourself out. No matter how much you know your land environment and conditions are factors that will always change in a fire.

I am sure it is somewhere in the comments but don't forget to put a vent on the tank so you don't collapse the tank when pumping. Awesome work

With all the land put a water retention pond in to catch all your run off. Then you should be able to use the pump to draw water off of that into the tank! Also keep the white tank as a backup!

You need to get Jason from Fire Department Chronicles to give the final inspection when your fire truck is complete, it has the potential to be a really funny video.

Not sure if you'll see this but for the 5 ton variants of these trucks (extra axle and more beefy) they have tip gauges in the cab to tell you if you're about to roll over. Might be worth seeing if you can get one for your truck.
