6:11 They don't use the 222s for Skeg as they won't fit at many of the stations, and they are also not cleared for some of the bends on the route pretty sure.

@@TrainspottingTrio weird it won’t fit when the HST went through these stations?

Was told it was due to the wheel arrangements and sharp curves.

@@TrainRealWorldBut, as a different member of @TrainspottingTrio , the stations were built in the 1800s, and as an example, Radcliffe(Notts), was built in 1850, and since then has had its goods yard and third Platform removed, but they were never designed for the 2004 admission of Meridians on the network to for future possibilities to stop them at these small village stations, and for the HSTs, it was at their admission time that they were taking down the footbridge at Radcliffe as we already had a road bridge with footpath access at the station. This occurred in 1977. And since the Platforms have been overgrown with foliage beyond the car stop signs and now Platform 2, as an example, has got 20, lost, metres of Platform.

@@peterskegness3204 And yes, no way would Meridians be able to use their power and design intentions to get round Netherfield Junction, over the Trent, round Radcliffe's numerous bends, etc. efficiently, and the Midland Mainline most obviously needed them.

And definitely not the corners around Boston, especially the halfway between Boston and Skegness at Firsby.

5:06 I agree with you some sort of route from Leeds outwards would be nice

Another reason for this is Nottingham being the most southerly northern station.

Never been to Skegness in my life. Im 56 so butlins was the thing back then. So filey was our chosen destination for holidays being from Newcastle 😂. Loving the video though

Putting it bluntly, it's a 💩hole. First thing you see arriving by train is the overgrown ends of the platforms - seen disused ones tidier. Forget Vegas, Skegmess is a much more appropriate name. Am unfortunate enough to have lived here years - it makes the fictitious town Royston Vasey look like a documentary about this place 😂

@@garymcgregor7048 Yes, certainly was better in the 70's and 80's. The rot set in around the early 90's, and it's been going downhill ever since. There's a good reason Skegmess wins the award for Worst Resort annually! Amusingly, the town is twinned with Bad Gandersheim in Germany (means nothing to all to anyone, but a few Councillors who use it for a free Jolly to Germany at Council Tax Payers expense). Although its two "Bad" towns twinned, in reality it would more appropriately be paired with Jaywick.

@@garymcgregor7048 Can't say as only visited Filey once around 30 years ago, otherwise only passed through it on the train and bus a few times, so will take your word for it, lol

Pretty sure 222s aren't cleared to skeg. They did use 180s at one point
@tonywilkins6090
@tonywilkins6090 3 дня назад
Yeah the 222's weren't cleared to run to skegness due to the Firsby Curve. Likely MegaSim was thinking of the 180's that used to run the summer specials.

Yes must’ve been 180s plus HSTs… what’s wrong with the firsby curve for the 222s?
