Yeah, that ring needs to be compressed in order for it to be installed. Typically the "round and round" motion is what helps that ring compress. If it's CRAZY tight, you could use some vice grips on the ring first to pre-crimp it a bit - or if it's impossible, you could remove the ring altogether with some needle-nose pliers...just bend it off. BUTTTTT if you do that, and it's loose in the socket at all, if you pick up the chair, the casters will just fall off. The ring is there to slightly compress to get through the opening - then snap back open (a tiny bit) to hold them in place. It's a tiny part that's oddly functional!

Try apply some Soap on caster and the hole, slided in!

What I need to know is how to install a Caster onto a stem that is already in the freaking chair. My stem is already in the chair. I just need to know how to install a Caster onto a stem that is already in the freaking chair. There's nothing I can find on the internet that tells me how to do that. Can somebody please help me?

The stem likely broke off the caster body and needs to be removed using vice grips and a STRAIGHT (perpendicular to base) pulling motion. If you have more trouble, send us some photos to customerservice@chairpartsonline.com
