Go get the mirror, it’s gorgeous. Strip all that ugly paint off of it and make it more beautiful! It would look fabulous in you bedroom! Everything is looking so good. All your hard work is paying off! And Tomas is a great guy and talented at fixing things …..lucky to have him! Bravo Bravo 👏🏻
What a huge effort and achievement each room is! You have such an artistic eye for colour and in finding treasures. It must be a good feeling when finishing each job!
Spring is around the corner and your lovely Chateau is certainly the place to be...gorgeous! I loved the trip through the brocante. Thank you for taking us along.
I hope that Thomas’s back improves soon. Back pain is a real pip. I enjoy watching spring arrive in France; we’re definitely not there where I am! I’ve been amazed by the quality of brocantes in your general area and the staggering variety of wares and prices. I like the pink mirror, and I confess, I rather like that snake as well. A la prochaine!
Was it last week or the week before , that your friend said you need to learn to haggle ? The stated price isn’t always what they’ll accept . Just My opinion . Those places are in the business of selling and IMO they want to make more than their fair share ! Haggle a little and they might be willing to come down on their price . 😎
Nothing to lose by haggling. I find it uncomfortable - but I don’t get much practice in the UK. They expect you to haggle in France. The worst that can happen is they say no!
Yes, if that last mirror is affordable, purchase it and repaint with gold leaf or gold paint. That big serpent would look great where the wall has fallen in the garden. 🤣 Every Garden of Eden needs a serpent! As always, a great vlog this week, beautiful blue-sky days, lovely to have friends visit and cook and your office is coming along! Have a wonderful week. I would love to see the area that was cleared behind the cottage’s new roof, too. I’m still trying to recover from a fractured hip and I wish I could sit in your garden in the sun and read a book. We still have snow in Montana. 😖 I can’t even walk down the long steep driveway for my mail for fear of falling again but then, I actually fell on a perfectly flat sidewalk so there’s that. I blame it on my Sketcher athletic shoes, the soles of which seem to stick to the concrete sidewalk.
Oh dear, I hope that your hip heals soon. I’ve had the same issue with my Skechers, but I still love them. It’s always something, isn’t it? I hope that someone else can get your mail for you until you’ve healed enough. Take care🍀🤗🇨🇦
As I am sure you are aware, there are apps for your version of smartphone that can provide the identity of many of your plants/weeds....enjoy! Also, great work on your chateau!
I love the antique store perusing. Home bound now, but so many years past were spent in similar places, looking for treasures. If it was a really jam packed place, I would go through once, turn around, and go back in the opposite direction. It really surprised me, that at the different angle, I would find things I missed! Thanks for sharing, I fell right into the zone shopping with you. Looking forward to the day the fountain is done & working. There is nothing like the sound of water to clear the brain. Hopefully you won't have to adjust the water pressure to get the sound that is pleasant to your ear...ask me how I know...LOL.
I do LOVE that mirror for your room. Also the first bureau with the marble top but it is rather small so you’d need another bigger one too. Love the paint color you chose! it will look fabulous and rich . Some of the other channels seem to find furniture much cheaper at other area of France. I’ll see if can find them. Everything is looking so beautiful outside too. ❤❤❤
The mirror is bevelled and definitely has potential... yes buy it! Also, as you are an artist, you could revive that large tapestry with fabric paint. I had success with a faded stand alone tapestry fire screen.
Love your choices for office ; as far as garden mostly gravel with some greenery would be a neat alternative to the sparse grassy areas - just saying ( would cut down on so much work 😊
I love the colour you chose, for the panelling, a fountain how lovely 😍 The fountain looks exciting. Lucky you don't have an abundance of Pine trees, that would be something else for Chloe to eat ❤ l love the large mirror it would look beautiful restored 😊
The cottage since it’s a separate building would make a nice gite, providing another source of income. A number of designers seems to use high gloss or lacquer finish on trims and moldings, the looks is very nice, perhaps you can get a test sample and see if you like that finish.
YAY! YOU'LL HAVE WARMTH SOON! The current painting is going to look wonderful! Can't wait to see it done and the room furnished. Fingers crossed the rock hill problem solves it's self. Take care, try not to worry. ❤ Deb from Michigan
Love that mirror at the end with the beveled glass. That would brighten your room! The brocante shopping is delightful, but a shame that stuff is so expensive. Yikes! The developments with the cottage are quite exciting! You got a lot done this week :)
Maybe you have a lot of drafts pulling out heat! Would be good to check around the windows and when the flame flickers will indicate a big draft… you can buy foam strips and sticky on one side and just stick it around the windows should make a difference hopefully.
The mirror is gorgeous!! I hope it’s the right price as well as the dresser with the marble top that matches the fireplace! Glad you had some company for a few days nice to see friends from Seattle and enjoy exploring the beocantes and beautiful areas of France in the Springtime 🌸🌺wow exciting that the cottage has a cement patio! So many things are stay waiting to be found on the property! It would be fun to have a metal detector and perhaps find treasures from the past! Just read that a couple bought an early 1800s home before garbage collection a hole would be dug to bury debris and silverware dishes and many other items from the past century were found! I enjoy antiques and history so love seeing you share these ! Hope you have a great week ahead Abby! Enjoy the beautiful weather and I hope you get the mirror! Au Revoir 💜
The wine color is growing on me-it looks very rich! I shop along with you in the shops and spied a gold filigreed table with a white marble top that I absolutely loved in the last brocante and I’m not really an antique person per se. You seem to make so much progress every week! I’m looking forward to the next vlog already. Have a good week, Abby and thanks for sharing. ❤️❤️
I will text u in 3 weeks to remind u that u need to order some more pellets for your heat, as it only last for 4. That way u will hopefully get them before u run out.. absolutely love watching you Chateau grow into something magic..
If the mirror is a good price, I say get it. I hope Tomaz's back is better soon. I know the feeling of a bad back. Things are coming along nicely. I am glad that your friends visited. I enjoyed the brocantes, but not the prices. Best wishes. ❤
Abby, you’re doing such a great job painting. I hate everything about painting & I don’t paint well enough to meet my own standards. Good for you that you’re getting at it. Everything that you’ve done so far is lovely & such an improvement. Good luck with everything 👍🏻🤗🇨🇦
the caterpillars you have might be Oak processionary.... the hairs on the caterpillars can cause asthma andskin irritation . hey can damage oak treas (not pine) and can weaken the trees, so they can become vulnerable to otherthreats. In Belgium they are subject of pest control when in public parks as they are seen as a public health problem.
Yes not only on pine trees but on conifer trees..fir ..spruce..larch..cedar trees…Thaumetopea pityocampa is the type of caterpillar that attacks these trees ..the caterpillar that attacks oak trees is a different one but both are to be treated very very carefully as cause many problems..🆘🆘🆘 all the necessary information you can find on the internet about these caterpillars ..here in Italy the nests that form in the trees should be removed and dealt with by skilled people before the end of February because afterwards they can start their descent in single file down from their nests and thats when they can become dangerous and lethal to animals and people that could come into contact with them..keep dogs on a lead checking before what’s in front of them before they come into contact with these processionaria caterpillars..everybody needs to read up and wise up to the possible negative affects caused by these bruchi
It’s raining🌧️cliffs⛰️come down 🪨 SoCal:😢 Abbey:🤗 🤣😂🤣 Is it this brown moth or the bark beetle that they are having to cut down all the pine trees? Offering 20% less than marked is a completely fair ask of the seller in the USA both parties feel like they made out in the exchange. Do you need that mirror? Do you have a specific place for it, or are you buying it to buy it? It’s another project do you have time for? Will it be there in the future that you don’t have to make a special trip for it?
Abbie you’re allowed to be picky about what you put in your bedroom or office. The mirror at the end is beautiful even if you had to sand it a little bit or paint it or strip. It would be gorgeous.❤ Thank you
Yes Abby go back for mirror paint can fix a lot maybe some gold accents barter most places Want to move stuff along I just say best price can just walk away but they more then likely will say wait let's see what we can do ! But I have trouble asking people for help with stuff since Joe passed but have called friend to help remove two bookcases as broken now going to call another help me go to home depot to get beadboard panels and trim pieces to do my ceiling in the basement! Just have really struggling with doing stuff but when was not a problem for me when fighting for my husbands health care lol always stood up to idiots who just did not listen and eventually my constantly asking questions worked ! Lol
A Matt finish does not show all the imperfections on the wall. I know that because I live in an old house, in Canada, that has latte and plaster walls. Go back for the mirror depending on the price and if you bargain. It seems like you are being more careful on prices. 🤗🇨🇦
Hi Abbey, don’t know if you have thought about it, but would be fun if you did a question and answer on Patreon. I know you can’t put out another video, but every now and then it’d be a treat for your supporters to get to know you better. 😊😊😊😊😊😊
The “weed” maybe broccoli, raub( or Rob) not quite sure… It’s used in salads and soups and just on its own. It’s on the bitter side so it’s kind of cooked down like spinach, but you’ll be surprised all the stuff that grows between the cracks over there that we buy, in Ia can or the produce aisle😊 beautiful day over there by the way
I think much of the growth that has sprung out of the ground are weeds. You might want to lay cardboard down and cover with mulch to inhibit the weed growth. The mirror is pretty so is the gold one. xx
vous avez à Agen , une brocante caritative " Emmaüs " où les meubles et les prix sont très intéressants. Les boutiques " antiquaires " sont plus chères.
For the wooden bench and most everything else, it would be good to check out some auctions. Thats where these people selling in expensive brocantes are buying everything from. Or estate sales. Not sure if they happen in France.
Abby, AGAIN, try Intercheres, the auction house instead of brocantes for furnishing your home. You’ll pay a fraction of the price for the quality antiques you’re seeing at bricantes
Hello 😊😊😊I have been watching ur videos ,,Chateue looks.beautiful ,each and every room What are these granules for ???u got delivered ???. Fountain lookks v nice
I really like how open you are to suggestions and opinions. Good call to not have such busy colors. That topiary is just iconic. Love that. That fountain is just gorgeous. Is that area behind the cottage roof and the wall large enough for a sitting area? The gate with the M on top would look nice painted. Is that brick on the cliff a chimney or reinforcement to the wall? Personally, I find the brocante shopping not that interesting. Seeing what you've purchased would be enough once you get them home. More interesting is the chateau itself.
I agree with the other comments please haggle it doesn’t hurt to ask if they will accept a lower price! I hear it is common in France so they might mark things up to be able to come down in price 😊
