Watched this in a theater with gf. One of the most powerful emotional and devestating! When he was a boy was tough to watch! Death by Suicide 💔😢 of his friend had nearly entire audience in shock and tears. A must watch!
That part of the movie where Sid kills himself in the shower kills me every time. Why'd he have to hang himself for over that woman who didn't want him anymore. Was she worth him commiting suicide like this?!
This movie has some very important and quite unexpected lessons, that illuminate some illogical things that take place in employment. For that reason, this movie should be required viewing for all college and high school students. This movie demonstrates the concept that: when an employer wants to get rid of an unwanted employee, they do not terminate them. Rather, they get that unwanted employee to quit. Additionally, this situation may turn into a battle of wits and wills. as clearly shown in this movie. I know this from many experiences. In fact, I am considering writing a book on this subject.
"An Officer and a Gentleman" is a true classic movie. They don't make good movies like this anymore. I just wondered what happened to Richard Gere. I don't hear or see him much anymore.❤❤❤❤ D.O.R. That part always cracks me up when Louis Gosette Jr. says that.
Richard Gere movies: Officer and a Gentleman. Pretty Woman. Hachi. Runaway Bride. Primal Fear. First Knight. Autumn in New York. Arbitrage. The Jackal. Internal Affairs. The Double. Sommersby. No Mercy. The Benefactor. Time Out of Mind. The Flock. Amelia. Norman. Unfaithful. The Mothman Prophecies. Chicago. The Hoax. Three Christs. Bee Season. Nights in Rodanthe. Gere has been in tons more movies, most recently he was in: Maybe I Do! in 2023. My personal favourite is: Shall We Dance? ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Poppy Field I’m in awe of the lady so have watched her interviews and read her columns about her career. I love her to bits and would just wish she was in MY life! Lovely. Shalom.
@@rmlectronicsuk2410 ahh ok! I liked her too especially in Terms of Endearment..used to like her throaty laugh! Like so many actresses they are only flavour of the month for a short time like Meg Ryan was.
I was only a baby when this AWESOME movie came out but it's one of my favorite movies of all time. I think as my mother was giving birth to me this movie was playing in the hospital room. True fact. My mother told me that while she was in labor with me, this movie was playing in the hospital room we were in. 👍
Jeremy is a male given name derived from the name Jeremiah. The name "Jeremy" historically means: "May God uplift/exalt," "The Lord Loosens," or "Exalted of the Lord." Very GOoD. My three names (yes my surname too) are Saint's names. M.R.C.
I was only one year old but I remember this movie like it was yesterday. They don't make good movies like this anymore. The good movies are few and far between. ❤❤❤❤❤
Great movie filmed up in my neck of the woods, three people from my high school class had parts in that movie...Besides having a rough time on set filming with Richard Gere , Debra Winger also couldn’t get along with John Travolta in Urban Cowboy.
Yes, indeed. Most women do not believe in themselves enough to venture out on their own...so, they seek out a man who will 'free' them from their present circumstances. Love is rarely ever considered to be relevant.
He was irresolute because he was a product of everyone's expectations. When he finally resolved to do what he wanted to do, just break with the expectations, which included marrying his brother's ex ( when asked if he loved her, his disclaimer was " everybody loved her" )so the shock of Lynette rejecting him was just too much. He was a good guy from a good home but was expected to be his brother and he really justed wanted to be himself, which he wasn't really sure what that was
There's a woman who gets it. She dipped at the height if her fame and right after the great decade. She realized by 95 the deteriation of hollywood and wanted out. Gotta know when to walk away.
Debra Winger was notoriously difficult to work with. Plus women often get less roles as they age. I don’t know if it was really a conscious choice on her part.
I have six years active duty under my belt in my salad days and am now 70. Folk think why insult and demean recruits coming into the military when they're obviously patriotic? It insults them. Here is why. You can say you're patriotic, but maybe you are a liberal. By putting you under pressure I'm going to find out if you're still patriotic when your country treats you like shit. If you then are going out of your way to show me that your country is still what you are focused on to protect, you will become a Marine, a Soldier, an Airman or a Sailor.
@willemwolthuis5432: Thank you for your service. I would add that they are checking if your team can reply upon you, and that you won't sell secrets or the like to a foreign government. There are many patriotic people who had liberal views, who served our nation admirably in the military. Thank you again. Our nation needs persons such as yourself.
Q. Uploader/editor ? you left out the best bit! The very ending part, were he carries her out in his arms and she puts his hat on her head. How could you not see to not leave that out!
I wonder if people or most especially women today, think the concept of the "Puget Deb" which is the woman who seeks in some way, to get a male aviator to marry her, because he is "the answer to her dreams" is offensive and breathtakingly outdated.
My last year of Ducanville high school I took crafts menship enganine blue printings and before I left I was in taking my OSHA test then my mom asked me too take care of my lilnow big brother Pottis dying the day and she take care of him at night so then I try ook care of all my mom's friends kids a dad's friends kids
me and my dear old mum watched this together she said she liked it i had to fast forward the sex scene bit lol but she enjoyed it so did i richard gere eye candy hubba hubba 😁😊😛

I liked this movie, but there was NO CHEMISTRY between Richard and Debra. I believe Debra was miscast. I recall reading that an unknown Geena Davis was screen tested for the role of Paula. Suffice to say, I think the producers made the wrong choice.
and also did you not read on the World Wide Web (www) (Internet) that Debra did not like R.G. - but hey! Sure All or Most films (movies) Are FAKE. They Acting = fake.
