Type S is for street performance, type R is for racetrack performance. Old type R models removed radios and air conditioners for an edge. Type S keep the features. Current models make perfect sense. The Civic type R is setting Nürburgring records, so clearly the manual and FWD are not a problem. These are enthusiast cars punching above their weight, the manual is a no brainer.

Acura is off something real good if they don’t put at least a DCT in it. No AWD is gonna be a bummer if it happens but they need to change the transmission if they’re gonna offer an automatic version. No AWD is less important (at this rate) than not having a CVT. I know someone who went for an ILX over an Integra for this reason. It’s really got to be different this time. The new Integra was bad enough, this is the last chance for Acura to make up with the Type S. The DCT sadly may be unlikely if the productions tools for it went away with the discontinuation of the ILX. Edit: just saw the video. 6-speed only. Come onnnnnn I know manuals are better, but I needed a nice auto daily driver… not a WRX. Oh well. Not much different from a Type R either imo. We’ll have to see if it gets AWD at least to Differentiate later on

Hey Kirk, it would be _really awesome of you_ to add power-to-weight ratios to your spreadsheet. It ignores gearing and gives a much better idea of useable power than 0-60 times. For example, the power-to-weight of the 2022 Si (7ish 0-60) is close to the 2014-2016 228i (low to mid-5's 0-60), and feels very nearly as quick when in gear. Quicker with a mild tune. Of course they won't be perfectly accurate due to manufacturers underrating their power (I cheated and used actual crank output for the cars in the above example) but being in the ballpark is good enough. Steering ratios would be cool too, but those can take some digging.
@jamwest3146
@jamwest3146 Год назад
Four wheel drive makes a difference. Compare the TLX Type S to the Civic Type R for power to weight and then compare 1/4 mile times. The type R has a better power to weight , but covers the 1320 in a similar way as the TLX Type S.

If the Integra Type S is $1 over $50K MSRP - consider it DOA. Car prices have become absurd and in no way, shape or form can be justified. People's incomes have not grown or reflect this change. Without ANY explanation, the Type R went from $37K to $44K, and that's before dealers get a vice grip on your head and pop your eyes out with ADM (think Dogs in Casino). Also, 320HP on a FWD, LSD or not, is borderline unusable. Totally missed opportunity not having SH-AWD and 10AT/8DCT. People who have that kind of money and want performance luxury want options. If "Civic type-r but nicer interior" is our estimate for price: At ~48k comparing the competition Acura is in a sweet spot. Nothing at or below it's price outdoes it in most or all categories, and something gets sacrificed. Whether it's interior quality, non-track drivability and ride quality, practicality and space, manual transmission availability, fuel economy, or power. The only real exception is if you actually like the Golf R infotainment. At which point..... Type R is priced just above a 230i coupe (forget the Gran coupe), but it out powers, under-weights, and over performs on track all while offering a manual and more practicality. Step up to the 240i coupe and you get the power advantage, but at a 5k premium and again no manual and less practicality. If you step up to the 3-5 series for more space, or the M2 for the manual transmission, the price is going to jump dramatically.

Funny, i haven't even seen a TLX Type S since last year and there's a dealer like 20 mins from me. And to hav this Intergra come out as a Manual is jus Silly Dumb.. They really should hav brought out the 8spd auto. They will Overhype this car like they did with the TLX T-R and it will Disappear the same way.. Such a shame those two cars could been a Cash Cow for Acura. TLX Type S should hav been a 375hp ttv6 Screamer. And a limited 450hp Type R Monster to go after the M3. Yeah, a lil short on Hp but still a good move.. Now the IT-S would b cool with 320hp manual & auto but make a Type R 390hp Terror. That will wake up the brand real Quick. But Honda always playing second fiddle. Oh, well, What's Next👍

At the end of the day, whether it's a noticeable difference makes no difference. It's 5hp more. This is for the streets, backroads, and highway cruises. I am ready for the unveil. I just hate how in the past many great Japanese cars gets canned because they didn’t sell enough to compete with the euro sport cars, and all the euro sport cars embrace auto’s. I get that most enthusiast knows how to drive stick as I do as well, it just gets old after a while especially in traffic. I just hope they will bring a fast shifting auto trans, MAYBE a ZF trans?!?!?!?! But even not, I know we are heading into a recession, (as a note, the recession and sales was a few of the reasons why the original integra type r ended in the states) I sure hope that the type s does not die, just please bring and auto people and would buy them as it can be an alternative to a m235i or a S3.

They have no trouble selling every single Type R made with a stick shift and they make 5000 units per year - Type S will be the same as there are few luxury cars with a manual. @bellesogne
@bellesogne Год назад
As much as I want a 10 speed / DCT option on the Integra, it's just not going to happen with Honda's current business practice. Integra follows the Honda universal platform model, so it will be either 6 MT or CVT in its available configurations. Honda has no big incentive to invest in the design dollars needed to get a 10-spd/DCT into the Integra. I agree that doing so would attract more purchasers (GR86 has a 70% take rate on its AT vs. MT, for example), but I don't think it'll be enough to make it worthwhile for Honda.

Why not invest the R&D and give us the 10 speed auto/ AWD? if you had to take the RDX/TLX base engine tune and couldn’t give us higher ratings because of suspension complication, that would’ve been fine but then the price should’ve been reflected and possibly came in under the Type R (which wouldn’t make sense but yeah) why not make the integra type s an alternative to the golf r w the DCT, Honda not doing enough with their products and charging a lot of money is a trend: new crv: no: pano sunroof, ventilated seats, heated rear seats and 39k on top trim, something like the Sport-L accord has no rear seat air vents and costs more than the EXL, Honda also didn’t give the EXL/ sport L accords the 8 speaker ‘premium’ audio system From the CRV EXL, the fucking civic doesn’t get any adjustable lumbar support at all( really this vehicle came out for the 2022 model year who’s still manufacturing power seats without lumbar) also on all of the competitors you basically don’t have to exclusively go to the top trim to get stuff like premium audio, but you do for Honda, make it make sense they’re less of a value than they’ve ever been before not saying Toyota is exactly cheap but yeah
