What I use to go fast is called, 'Limiter Cut'. The way to do it is by letting go of the accelerator while driving then quickly shift to reverse then shift to drive and quickly accelerate. Doing that constantly builds speed. If you see your going to crash into something, let go of the accelerator and the cab will recover faster without losing much speed. There are a total of 246 customers on the map. Something to optimize is to build more time by making less mistakes so I could make 3 more trips to the Baseball Stadium/R.B. Station by taking the 3 customers in the downtown area who I usually take to the Lookout Tower. In this video I got the time to 800 seconds with a customer but I've gotten to 825 seconds without a customer so I know there's room for improvement there. Also try to do 80 plus combos with all customers when taking them to the Baseball Stadium/R.B. Station. In this video I did that with a lot of the customers but with some customers I dropped the combo so there's room for improvement there too.

Time counter can go up to 999, trust me 😆. Once you get 999 you dont get any more time picking up customers so better going slower to get more combos once you get 999 seconds

There are customer patterns in the game that can help you move forward or backwards on the map. I learned a lot of the patterns through the years of playing but around 2009 I learned about CrazyTaxi.net, which has a map for different areas of the game with instructions on customer destination. What helped me reach the $100K mark was driving around the city like if I was in a race and I'm doing laps around a race track. Starting at the University all the way around the map and back to the University is a lap. Doing 14 to 15 laps around the city is about how much I do. After the laps, if you have a lot of seconds on the timer, try picking up all the customers from the Mall all the way to the Tennis Court. And if you still have time, try clearing the other areas that still have customers. Hope this helps and I wish you the best. :)

Thank you. 🙂 In the arcade cabinet version of Crazy Taxi maybe $130K because of the disappearing customers at the end of the run. Last time I played in the arcade cabinet version in February some of the green colored customers in the downtown area disappeared, so I need to play that version of Crazy Taxi some more and plan my route accordingly. 👍

@@quiksPR on the gamecube version customers despawn also late in the run. it seems random me and my teammate compensate for it by taking less red customers until we reach 110k so our customer count stays low. it seems to work most of the time. in my 118.5k i did the other day i only noticed 1 customer despawn and I took 232

does the ps2 version not have customer despawns?

@@teamneutralgaming1946 Customers disappear in the PS2 version of Crazy Taxi as well. I haven't tested the Dreamcast version of the game to see if I pick up all the customers in the game, the most I've done is $124K on 70/1/3 without trying to pick up all the customers in the game, but if Dreamcast version of the game close to the arcade cabinet version then I'm sure they disappear there too. The most customers I've picked up is 239 with time to spare and the rest of the customers disappeared. There's supposed to be 246 customers in the game. If I get a Gamecube again I'll give it a try and see how many customers I can pick up before the start disappearing.

@@quiksPR I made a map in Photoshop its actually 248. AL the old WR holder had 238 I think my teammates highest is 236. 240+ is definitely tough if not impossible if these despawns always happen

According to Twin Galaxies, the rules are: Timer: 70 seconds Traffic: Player's choice No Wall Trick, Warp, or Continuous Backdrift allowed. All the records I've seen for the arcade mode of the game start with 70 seconds but the traffic changes. I'm guessing if, for example, someone breaks a record in default settings (50/4/4) then a new category might be created. Hope that helps. :)

@@quiksPR okay good to know. I'm not really out to get a record or anything myself, but it's interesting to know what the ruleset is. I'm more concerned at just getting a bit better at the game so I can do longer runs. I'm not too bad as it is, but can't seem to rack up nearly enough time like you do in this run. I usually start out with default 50 seconds, but can't really ever push it past 60-70 seconds by earning time bonuses.

The people don't come back after being taken to their destination. Some people disappear after a certain amount of people have been picked up so it's hard to pick up every one in the game.

@@franqo4490le quita merito xq el juego esta diseñado en correr contra una franja minima de tiempo, no acumulandolo. y el hecho de q todos estos videos digan "world record" sabiendo q juegan sin las reglas default del juego es de lo peor.

@@kaishmuper se puede acumular tiempo jugando en normal también! Y se necesita la misma skill, solo que vas a acumular como la mitad. Bajar la dificultad es literalmente una opción del juego, me parece lo más inteligente a la hora de conseguir récords mundiales :P Creeme que si jugaba en normal el gameplay iba a ser igual, solo que en vez de 800 segundos hubiese llegado a 400, y hubiese hecho unos 120k, por decir un número

@@franqo4490 de q estas hablando? el record mundial es de 105k, y con 100% de los pasajeros subidos. el juego nunca llega a mas de 250 segundos con la dificultad default de arcade, fue diseñado para jugarse asi en timer normal, todo el time bonus esta diseñado alrededor de eso, el timer se sube 4x mas rapido en easy, no hay forma q uno vaya y se quede 1+hora jugando en un arcade salvo q sea jugador del nivel mas alto y entienda todas las posibilidades del rng del juego. Por algo hay cientos de videos en youtube con gente diciendo q tiene el record mundial jugando mas de 2 horas. El juego no se juega asi. Es como q yo dijera q me termine por el ejemplo el dodonpachi saidaiojou, q es uno de los shoot'em ups mas dificiles q existen, jugandolo en easy, pero para mi cuenta como clear, y no me interesa lo q nadie mas diga. Jugar de esta manera es basicamente pasarse por las bolas el diseño original del juego. Hasta lo vez al jugador este cometiendo cientos de errores q le provocarian un gameover en menos de 20 minutos de partida.

Lamentablemente los customers desaparecen en ésta versión también. Al parecer el juego no está hecho para llevar a todos los customers. Lo más alto que he llegado es 239 de 246 customers. Gracias por el apoyo. 🙂👍

@@quiksPR Y yo aún no tengo suficientes datos para saber si empiezan a desaparecer pasada una cifra de viajes o pasada una cifra de puntuación. Creo que sería interesante cuando uno nota que desapareció uno, anotar la puntuación y los customers recogidos hasta ese momento. Sabiendo cuando y como sucede podría pulirse mrjor la estrategia final a seguir.

@@quiksPR Otra cosa interesante que yo barajé en la partida que acumulé los 999segundos y aún podría acumular más si el marcador lo permitiese es: ok, si me va a sobrar tiempo haga lo que haga y los customers son limitados, ¿Es viable una estrategia de partida en la que simplemente recojo a cada customer en el color que mas paga por la carrera? ¿Sin importar adonde va? (a excepción de los 3 amarillos que viajan atras al Police Dept. Que son las 3 peores carreras de todo el juego)

@@eltanneshi2585 Es importante que cuando tienes un choque frontal a alta velocidad dejes de torcer en ese mismo instante para cualquiera de los dos lados. Así evitarás girar 180 grados por el choque y simplemente chocarás manteniendo la dirección en la que ibas. Es algo muy importante que hay que tener en mente una vez que eres capaz de jugar a altas velocidades. Y es jn error muy común que puede arruinarte muchos segundos...

The reason why this world record attempt is in the easiest settings is because the previous record was done in those settings and I wanted to see if I could break the record using the same settings. I'm sure a default settings category could be made, just need more players submitting for that category. 😃

Honestly I don't know. I was really nervous! I've been playing the game for over 20 years but it's always a different feeling when you know the game is being recorded and that people are going to see me play this game I like so much. 🙂

Same here. I played in arcade and on GameCube and always played 50/4/4. I didn't know about the 70/1/3 settings for Crazy Taxi till I went for the world record back in 2009. :)

Has tratado el taxi de Gus? Ese es el taxi que uso para no perder el control tanto. Siento que cuando uso el taxi de Gena siempre pierdo el control y termino perdiendo tiempo. Además de eso, mucha y mucha práctica. Te deseo lo mejor. :)

@@quiksPR Sorry I meant on take off. 3:55 at the start I thought for sure you had to be in reverse, shift into drive, then hit the gas to take off like that.

@@Nukem2Bits That type of boost is called "Crazy Dash" and to do that hit drive then quickly accelerate.

Watch my old $115K video on BoricuaGaming channel. Or watch A.L.'s amazing 238 customers $118K run. Those 2 runs don't do the highway reverse strategy. Hope that helps you. 🙏

Some of those customers at the R.B. Station disappear depending on the customers that are available to be picked up at the time. Same thing happens in other areas of the game. What I end up doing is picking up those customers first and leave the other customers that are constantly there for later. What I recommend is to learn the customers locations, specially the ones you said where giving you trouble. Feel free to pause the game and look at the Location Map from CrazyTaxi.net and pick up the customers that help you move forward like doing laps around the map. If I were to play again, I would have to look at the map again and my video just to refresh my memory. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure honestly. I just go by the Twin Galaxies scores for Crazy Taxi. 🙂

The reason I used 70/1/3 settings was because the original world record on consoles was done on those settings. I've played with the default settings too and done over $100K. The only big difference is the time you have at end of the game. I've ended up with over 800 seconds by the time I'm going to pickup the green customers in the downtown area. With default settings I have about 400 seconds for those green customers.

@@quiksPR fair enough 70 seconds is the arcade time I believe. I play on dreamcast very good port

I prefer Gus cause his cab is the heaviest so when I crash into something I lose less control of the cab. I believe Gena has the fastest cab, B.D. Joe is fast but has the biggest cab and Axel's cab is balanced.

To me the PS2 version feel the same as the Gamecube and Dreamcast versions of Crazy Taxi feel, pretty good, not to sensitive. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions in my opinion have tight controlling and are my favorite version to play, too bad the don't have the original music and locations. The only thing I don't like about the PS3 version is that the game pauses for a second or two between songs, even you turn off the music the game still pauses and it stinks when you are dashing or doing combos and the game pauses and it throws me off. The PSP version I think has the worse controls. I'm having trouble getting to 700 seconds or doing combos at the end part of the game, and the game slows down between songs for some reason. @@quiksPR However when you are on PS3 you could try to import the music and disable the actual music in-game. Doing so should get you rid of inconvenient pauses. Simply play the imported music in-game via the media player even though it will play in the menu still. This goes well with other songs from The Offspring. Not sure what you mean by it still paused without music. Do you play on the old model of PS3? Maybe it's an old hard drive.

@@Soullesscat @Soullesscat Sorry, I meant that in the PS3 version, when you go to settings, there's an option called music volume and you can lower the game music completely. I play on a PS3 Slim. I didn't know about importing music, thanks for letting me know. 🙂

No estoy seguro que hay alguna forma de elegir, al parecer no. Recuerdo el año pasado cuando traté de llegar a los 246 clientes pero me quedé como con 300 segundos y no quedó nadie más. Y si trato de llegar a los 246 en PS3 or PSP, el juego se congela después de cierta cantidad de clientes. En la versión arcade cabinet, la máquina original de Crazy Taxi, los clientes desaparecen aún más temprano en la partida. Me pregunto si Crazy Taxi 2 y Crazy Taxi 3 pasa lo mismo con los clientes.

Muchas gracias por la info, la voy a tener en cuenta. Imaginaba que no se podían elegir :( PD: en la versión de PC (2002 build) pasa lo mismo, se crashea el juego, además de que va en cámara lenta. Por eso ahora juego con emulador de Dreamcast.

@@quiksPR There's now a few replays on my channel if the offer is still there ;) My issue is now going backwards too much due to not knowing which customers to get. My main areas of problems are at the Fire Station, Look out tower, and sometimes the solid greens going backwards from the steep hills just past the Fire Station.

Not sure the reason why world records are played on the easiest settings. The reason why this one is in the easiest settings is because my friend, who saw my Crazy Taxi records I posted on Facebook in 2009 said I had a shot at the world record. I looked into it and saw the settings were different. Prior to that, I've was playing Crazy Taxi coin-op and the GameCube game in standard settings. I'm sure a category could be made for standard settings. I've seen a few videos on RU-vid of people playing in standard settings, maybe those could be the first submissions for the new category. 😃

I consider the end game when you've got around $89K with around 750 seconds of game time and still haven't taken most of the green customers in the downtown area. By that time In the game most of the customers from the tennis court all the way down to the mall area have been picked up. Driving those green customers from downtown to the baseball stadium/R.B. station area and slowing down on the way to avoid crashing and getting a lot of combos with Crazy Through is the end strategy. Fare can go from $1K to $3K to the baseball stadium and $2K to $5K to the R.B. station.

I'm sure it could be the standard, just need players submitting records in that category. :)

Yes, you can run out of customers. There's a bug in the game where customers disappear during the endgame. Some ports of the game freeze after picking up a certain amount of customers. Check out the RU-vid channel Crazy Frank. Back in 2022 he made a series of videos documenting the journey to pick up all the customers in the game.

I never seen $999,999.99 before but maybe with a GameShark or hacking the game it might be possible. I figure since the most money you can make with one customer is $99,999.99 and let's say it takes about 2 minutes to backdrift in place and get to $99,999.99, you would need at least 10 customers to $999,999.90 and and other customer after that to get the remaining 10 cents. 2 minutes is 120 seconds, times 10 customers is 1,200 seconds (not counting the time you need to find all the customers and bring them to their destination) and since the time counter only goes 999 seconds, it's seems difficult to reach the $999,999.99 mark. I'm not very good at math so I'm sure someone can come up with something that could work. The highest score I've seen with backwards drifting is a picture on Twitter of a player from Japan getting $588,589.18 playing on a stand up arcade cabinet.

Actually, the counter can exceed 999 seconds, but it visually stays stuck there, so what the guy says may be possible. I passed the 999 second mark on the original map and you can keep accumulating time, but the counter will freeze until you get below that time.

Mi amigo, Star Bluebolt, juega en la versión de Android. Te recomiendo que visites su canal de RU-vid para que veas la partida. A lo mejor en un futuro juege la versión Android pero tendré que acostumbrarme a jugar en el modo de control A ya que llevo más de 20 años jugando en modo de control B y la versión Android además de no poder ajustar el tiempo y el tráfico tampoco se puede ajustar el modo de control.
