Aundrea was chosen for her vocals. Dawn was chosen for vocals and dancing Aubrey was chosen for dancing and stage presence. D woods was chosen for her urban vibe and personality Shannon was chosen because of her looks and she’s a great dancer. Also she’s a team player.
They selected the perfect Girls, it's a shame they let egos get in the way of their success, however their legacy is intact and one day we will get a full Reunion 💝💝💝💝💝
I doubt a full reunion will ever happen. Maybe 4/5 girls. But D'Woods, I feel like she's the real reason the band was disbanded. The first time they reunited it was without her, only Shannon, Dawn, Aubrey, and Aundrea came back. This time around it's only Aubrey, Dawn, and Shannon. Both times D'Woods was MIA. There must be some hidden secret as to why the never include her. I feel like she pit Aubrey and Dawn against each other and ended up noticing after many years apart. Just a hunch. However, I'll take DK3 with their new music, instead of no DK at all. Aundrea is another one that even though she's a fan favorite, it just seemed like after she actually made the band, she didn't want to be in it. Also, after making the band with Aubrey, it looked like they actually stopped getting along towards the end. Aundrea got close with Dawn, and from the sounds of it in the last episode, Diddy made a comment to Aundrea and Dawn as if they were always complaining about "other members". Which means the other members were D'Woods and Aubrey. Seeing as he basically wanted to make DK3 after firing D'Woods and Aubrey, keeping Dawn and Aundrea, and asking Shannon if she would also stay in the band. However, at the time, Shannon told him no, she didn't want to continue in the band without Aubrey nor D'Woods. But will now be in the band with Aubrey and Dawn. Lol. What a mess. The way I see it is like this. At first, Dawn & Aundrea didn't really care for Aubrey & D'Woods. Shannon was neutral between both groups of two but sided more with Aubrey & Dawn. Don't think she cared too much for Aundrea or D'Woods. Years later, now, we have the the perfect group, Dawn, Aubrey, and Shannon. Except for the "hit" from Dawn to Aubrey, it seems they finally have they're shit together and actually get along now. Here's hoping this time they make it stick because third time's a charm. Lol
@@peacheserrano1 there was drama between Dawn and D.Woods. Aubrey talks about it in an interview with Shannon on the breakfast club where Dawn was being a troll online and posting derogatory things about D.Woods.
I think they became toxic toward each other b/c it was fueled by a bad boss. When you've got a problematic, egotistical boss - that is what happens. Diddy was pitting them against each other and he featured Dawn in one of his performances, and I don't think that was cool. He should not promo 1 member over the others. He's toxic and def does not know how to manage artists and groups. They were literally the biggest thing... and he fucked it up.
I said the same thing! Also ironically, Aubrey and D. Woods were the first the become a twosome... then Shannon and Aundrea. Dawn was always kinda like the odd one out, either being alone or chillin with Que.
I liked the people he chose personally. It was the best set of girls for this situation. I think Taquita over Wanita would’ve been a better fit, but that’s just my eye. Kelli stayed around too long. Kaui was better than her.
100% agree. Taquita much better than wanita. She blended much better with the other girls and seemed to want to be in the band so bad. wanita always seemed bored and like she didn’t wanna be thereb
I remember when this aired and he called WANITA, and I was like...umm who??? she didn't stand out at all. She was quiet, and they barely showed her dancing or singing. LIKE WTFFFFFF. there was better choices IMO
Tommy Siro I feel like one the reasons certain members were picked was for a marketing purpose... Yes Aundrea has pipes... we all know that, but DK couldn’t reach a large Hispanic demographic if it weren’t for Diddy choosing her.
I honestly didn’t like wanita. She could dance but her singing was just ok. I also believe Shannon could dance but her singing was just ok. She was just really shy. But she’s improve so much as an artist though. I really like Melissa. But that’s just my opinion
When you realize Danity Kane was already a group halfway through this season. Shannon had a deal with Johnny Wright, Diddy had bought$$ Dawn out of her previous record label contract. Aubrey was the breakout Britney Spears star, and Aundrea was an AMAZING vocalist. The only wild card was D. Woods.
I think denoshe was originally suppose to make the group. She had industry experience as a backup singer and was in music videos. But she couldn’t get along with Aubrey. They knew Aubrey and aundrea were fan favorites and talented and built the group around them. Notice dawn and Aundrea were always in the same group. Cause he wanted both of them. He did the same with Aubrey and denosh. The difference is they didn’t get along like dawn and Drea. They fought and couldn’t blend vocally. Diddy was going to pick Aubrey which pushed denosh out. Dawn and Drea were the core of dks vocals. And worked well together. D woods was picked last minute to replace denosh
Thank you for uploading these! I was a huge fan and still am of the making the band series. I also was super into Danity Kane. So thank you for letting us all be able to enjoy these episodes again!
Looking back on it Aundrea caught a lot of uncalled criticism. She was naturally pretty and by far the best vocalist. Plus she was a great dancer. Both Dawn and Shannon were trained dancers for the NBA so learning a routine was a regular day for them that's why they had the dancing on lock. Dawn had a great voice tone as well. D. Woods grew up taking dance classes and could harmonize well. Aubrey was gorgeous and a phenomenal performer and had a decent voice. She knew how to put on a show. All the girls that they choose was perfect for a group. The only other girl I could see making the group was Jasmine or Taquita.
Diddy didn’t like Aundrea because she lacked sex appeal. He wanted a sexy girl group and Aundrea doesn’t fit that vibe. Even in this video where he calls her name to make the band what she’s wearing looks cute. All the other girls look sexy. During the Backstreet Boys performance ep she reveals to Doc & Laurie Ann she has an insecurity with sex appeal
@@saranguyen2788 I didn’t agree on the last part you said diddy wasn’t looking for a sexy group he doesn’t want anyone to put any sex on his songs like he said to her in the recording booth
@@kellycochran1271 Oh yeah I remember that episode but Aubrey confirmed on the ‘Call Her Daddy’ podcast not long ago that Diddy encouraged her sex appeal and sexual favors behind the scenes
I think it was clear he was gonna pick Aubrey and Dawn. He liked Dawn from the first episode, even referred to her as exceptional. Plus Dawn and Aubrey had the look of a star. Dawn was Uber talented, probably the most well rounded and consistent girl too. And Aundrea could really sing man. The other two I'm iffy about. I also think he had his eye on Shannon the entire time too because he also said something about her in episode 1. I do like Shannon and I think she improved a lot. But Wanita was just a no. I never liked her. Barely knew she was there except for then they showed her with the token ghetto girl wigs. She just didn't have it. I likes Taqueets so much better.
I TOTALLY agree. Love me some Taqueets so much more than Wanita. I was so confused when he called wanitas name. She was bland and boring and after she made the group she admitted she didn’t even want to be in a group. Just to use it as a platform. Taquita would have appreciated it more 🤷🏻♂️
Dawn was a shoe in and Diddy wanted another Black girl. D woods and Dawn aesthetically look better than Dawn & Taquita. Plus Yall act like she couldn’t sing and dance. Even if y’all didn’t see it on the show. She never had a lack of parts on songs
loved taquita but she was too tall to be in the group but she had everything else going for her. if they were different girls there to choose from that were taller ..
Shannon-guaranteed, a spot due to her connections with Johnny. Strong dancer, decent head voice Dawn- guaranteed,Diddy bought her out of her previous contract to continue the competition. Most unique voice, good recording artist Aubrey- guaranteed, for both seasons she was the fan favorite. Strong stage presence, strong dancer Aundrea- well received by fans, most well rounded vocal ability. But lacked sex appeal for Diddys taste. D woods- A lot of her parts were edited out. But from DKs career you can see she’s well rounded. Later admitted she never wanted to be in a group but just use the opportunity to network Dominque- was offered a solo demo deal after the show. Made some music but didn’t like the business. Denosh- still works as a back up singer for various singers. Was last seen with Demi Lovato Jasmine- was an actress before the show and still is Melissa- tried out for Pussycat dolls. Now makes RU-vid videos Not sure what Tequila & Kelli are up to
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! I just binged the whole season thanks to you lol. Wanita/Shannon were interchangeable with other girls like Taquita/Jasmine but in the end, I think the 5 were a good fit nonetheless. Diddy should make a new season of this
Y’all really on Beyoncé’s internet trolling about D.Woods! Say what you want but mama BOUGHT IT in DK both on the album, videos & their live performances. And no I don’t know her personally but we hear D all through self-titled & WTTD especially in those harmonies! I will say I knew something was up in Season 3 when she said her "artist name" was D.Woods, I still called her ass Wanita but put some respect on her!
kingleek92 THANK YOU!!!! She was a much needed member because these gurls could NOT connect to a crowd to save their lives. She had swagger and presence. She wasn’t the best singer but if folks just let Shanon and Aubrey through then D should be right in front of them. Because she sang circles around those girls 🤷🏾♂️
People act like she brought nothing to the group 🙄. She was a much more solid choice then Taquita. Taquita wasn’t bad at all she just had a different energy and swag that didn’t gel with the image. And Laurie Ann was on that ass the whole season for missing steps so...
MAKING THE BAND 3&4 😍♥️🌟✨ Binge watching old episodes baby! I still remember all the songs and choreography, to Beyonce, Jojo, Ciara, and Pussycat Dolls! I WANTED TO BE THESE GIRLS . Ohlalalalalala 👏👏🎶
In hindsight, a lot of their 'strengths" and "weaknesses" were exaggerated for the show. And they were all well rounded. 1.) Aubrey can sing but her dancing was overhyped. 2.) Andrea CAN dance and her voice was good but overstated because it fit a mainstream aesthetic 3.) D. Woods imo was quite pitchy and they made her the voluptuous "urban chick" despite her being low key irl. 4.) Shannon had great stage presence but her narrative was the boring white girl. 5.) Dawn was clearly the best singer (all of Danity Kane admitted this btw) & didn't sound like a Billboard artist.. AND arguably the best dancer but as a thin black girl without a huge butt or chest they they kept her presence muted despite the episode where every girl picked her for the group. My second thought is I can only think of appearance and attitude for why D. Woods was picked over Denosh. Denosh & Dawn were the most talented well rounded girls imo.
15 Years Ago The Night Of The Season 2 Finale Of MTV's Making The Band 3, The Five Chosen Female Contestants Became The International Superstar Female R&B Group,Danity Kane
@@amariahlovelace5113 Same. Taquita was good, but in her confessionals she always complained when she didn't get a solo part. I think Diddy looked at that and said nope.
What separated D. Woods from Taquita & Denosh is that it was CLEAR Taquita & Denosh were more into being the lead than apart of a team. D. Woods was willing to be a team player in order to eventually try to do her own solo thing.
I think Taquita would have been a great member! Amazing dancer and singer, stunning look! In my opinion Diddy did not choose her because she had a problem with discipline sometimes and also because she did not seem to bond a lot with the other girls...
He didn’t dawn was actually called last. They edited it to make Drea last cause they cut dawns underdog storyline and gave aundrea one. If you look closely when he called aundrea dawn is still in the line of girls
Look again at 3:50 right before he says “the last member of the group” you can briefly see dawn still standing next to Kelli. Which makes it funny they entered the group the same way they left. Aubrey first, then D.Woods, Shannon, Andrea, and then Dawn.
Me and my friend are so HAPPY you gave us the episodes we are DYING to rewatch and are starting Season 3 soon. Can you do Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll next? Thank you in advance
Loooool I swear I remember watching this with all my homegirls and when he said Wanita we were just like . . . .WHAT!?!?!?? Is he serious!?!?!? Plus it's like we already knew that Denosh and Taquita were out at that point. When he said Dawn, we knew that Jasmine was a no go as well.
Is it just me or did none of the girls really looked surprised? It was like they knew they were already going to be chosen. Even waiting with Aundrea it was clear she was the strongest singer.
@@1jsilvera when diddy was bringing them in that room and rotating the line up like a deck of cards... that was his way of getting them to rehearse the final performance. im sure mostly every girl was in that room at least once so they knew what part to sing had they been chosen. but as you can see there were girls that stayed in that room almost the whole time.
When the episode before this one aired at the very end of the episode there was a vignette of line ups that appeared just before they broke for commercial and the last shot was these five he chose. I remember thinking that's the five he is gonna pick but who is that fifth girl , and it was wanita.. she was the only one I didn't notice .. I would say taquita should have been in that spot but she was too tall and aundrea too short..
how did they do a performance like that if he just announced the band members? like how would they have planned who was singing at which time and all that?
@@RossJr8604 Right but even if they had rehearsed the lyrics and what not, they were singing at different times and knew exactly when to go, and they wouldn't have known the combination of girls beforehand
@@lakeroswell when Diddy was kept swapping people in and out of the group to see who looked and sounded good together, at in moment they were all put together, so they had already did this song together as a group.
@@amariahlovelace5113 He had a group of 5 (or whatever it was) for like every possible combination of girls? Tht would be like over 100,000 possible combinations or something
@@lakeroswell there were only eleven girls in the end, and he already knew at least three of the girls he was putting in the group. And he knew for sure he wasn’t putting some of the girls in the band. The only reason he kept swapping out Aundrea was because a fan favorite, and he wanted viewers to think he was unsure. But as I said there was a moment where he had the five girls he ended up choosing sing the song together. Also it seems like each of the final eleven girls were assigned a specific part of the song
And then again Aundrea last one called. You can totally see that Diddy was playing with her emotions the whole time and still probably always knew that he wanted to pick her.

After all these years, I wonder how all those ladies that auditioned feel knowing that two of the group members were already locked in contracts and the other two were fan favorites of Diddy and his crew and was going to be picked anyways. All those women auditioned for one spot which happens to go to D. Woods ironically. I would feel so cheated. The music industry is such a dirty, dirty game.
shannon was/is absolutely stunning. i knew from auditions those 2 were lock ins. aubrey and aundrea too. those 2 are a package deal, he was never gonna take just aubrey.
I was rooting for Jasmine so badddd . But when D Woods got called I knew it was a wrap for her Love Shannon but they ain’t ever let that girl get a piece of a lead til album 2 . When she opened on Damage I was more shocked that they let her open a song and sing a lead verse .
I feel like D. Woods was chosen more on a looker vibe. Her look fit with other girls. Shannon was like direct competition with Aubrey visually, but Shannon dances waaaaay better than Aubrey. She HAD to make it. Taquita and Denosh was hella taller than the other girls, so that would kinda offset the look of the group.
I kind of feel like those who didn’t make it were spared the crap that Diddy put them through. Weren’t their contracts like terrible? Like he would benefit off of them if they went elsewhere?
Watching the last few episodes I get this: 1. There's no way Kelli or Dominique were going to be in the group. Diddy had this misogynistic vision of five sexy good dancers. Neither of the two of them fitted in. 2. Borderline racist, but Diddy stated that from the Wanita-Denosh-Taquita trio he will only pick one since they look too much alike. So after Wanita was in, Denosh and Taquita were instantly out. 3. He sent Shannon, Jasmine and Melissa into a final audition for the last spot. Jasmine and Melissa blew it, so it was Shannon's to take. Thus, the group was made...
Why I feel some people didnt make it.. Jasmine-average vocalist and an ok dancer she wouldnt have brought anything different to the table not saying she wasnt special because she was and Im happy to see her thriving but what would have been the point of her being in the group if you have Dawn and D Woods? Denosh- attitude and approach with band members although her intentions were good they didnt always come off that way & height(looks play a big role) Taquita-height and they probably felt like she lacked focus at times could be the only reasons she was probably one they decided no at the last minute Kelli- weak dancer ok vocalist stayed way longer than she should have Kaui shouldve stayed til the end instead. Dominique-Dancing, although when she performed you couldnt tell she was a weak dancer and her look didnt fit the group. Melissa- ok vocalist and her Aubrey/Aundrea looked too similiar and Chain 6 wouldve lasted longer than Danity Kane they wouldve been a fire R&B group I know everyone says the group was based around Aubrey Chain 6 wouldve done perfectly fine without her.
