Aundrea Was Stunning, Dawn Was Magic, Shannon Murdered Her Background Vocals, D Woods Hit A HOMERUN!!!!!! "Ride For You" Seriously Is One Of Their Best Tracks
TJ Jones I agree. To add to that...Dawn and Aundrea’s blend sounds so beautiful when they sing the melody line of the chorus together on “Ride For You” as well.
Tommy Siro and D. Woods lol... on these particular songs, “One Shot” and “Ride For You”, from this episode and on the album, D. Woods bring those songs HOME!
Wanita showed the world why she made the group in this episode. I was on the fence about her during the first season, but obviously Diddy saw what should could contribute to this group.
And to think Aubs did all that crying only to start off the BOP that is “Showstopper”. I bet she cut all her crying out when she found out that would be DK’s first single & we’d all hear her voice first!
I felt so bad for Aubrey. She went from being Diddy's favorite to love to being his favorite to pick on.... She looked like a little girl who disappointed her dad...
Everytime i rewatch this show i find something else to rage about but there is always one thing that remains regards of how much time passes and that's the fact that even when they made the band and even after they released the album, the dynamic between the girls and Diddy never changed. Like he's still talking down to them and making them feel like they have to constantly please him. It's truly disgusting to watch. And speaking of disgusting... Aubrey finding out that her work was cut without anyone having other decency to speak to her in advance is just... 😔. Like The entertainment industry is wild.
I love how Dawn and Drea and Aubrey came to everyone's defense.... Looking back at all of the episodes, you never really see the other two show up for the other girls, but Drea, Dawn and Aubrey show up everytime to support like sisters.
you're watching an edited show. we have no idea what Shannon did or did not whine about. Furthermore, in a group setting, I'm sure each girl got into their feelings about this shit at one point at the very least.
It’s because Aubrey thought she was going to be the lead and the star of the group. And yeah she could dance and was beautiful but she began to realize when it was just the 5 girls she WASN’T the strongest singer
@@sirot5561 I say this every video but again... 15 years later, Aubrey, Dawn and Shannon stuck together and are burning stages with their shows. Period. They fought for it. Drea and D gave up. Period.
I don't think she didn't say something immediately because of that Aubrey's vocals were still good but the song may not have been the best for her vocal range.
I honestly didn’t feel bad for Aubrey! Shannon rarely had any solos on the record and never once had she cried or whines over it. Aubrey always wanted to be the center of attention and just came off as cocky too me once she made it into the group.
For the record they were a 5 part harmony and Aubrey did get her solo part on the record. All girls incl. Shannon got solo parts on the majority of the tracks even if some had shorter parts on both albums unlike many other 5 member groups such as pussycat Dolls and backstreet boys.
Alan Tam Please don’t add Backstreet Boys into that sentence. Every single member of that group can hold their own and had solos on each album. NSYNC, on the other hand
Her vocals were an insecurity point for her. Having a part then having it explicitly taken from you and getting that direct criticism from your boss on your vocals is hard. Then to be seemingly noncontributing to the following song recorded is a double whammy. It hurts to have that insecurity challenged in that manner.
Aubrey is singing a lot more on “One Shot” than this episode shows. Dawn sings the melody where Aundrea, D.Woods and Shannon sing their harmonies as we see. Although Aubrey doesn’t sing harmony with the rest of the group on the chorus, she echoes “One Shot” and “Non Stop” while singing Dawn’s melody line and D.Woods alto line on a 2 part harmony. She also echoes “Handle Me” after Dawn. Then on the second verse she harmonizes with Dawn, singing the higher note on the lines “hope you’re ready”, “that you’re ready”, “like a potion”, thing in motion”. When D. Woods sings her bridge, Aubrey harmonizes with Dawn once again.. this time on a 3 part harmony with her adding the middle note and the high note to Dawn on “Come on and get it, come on and just get it.” Then sings a 2 part harmony with Dawn on “think you can handle me” as she does on the second verse under Dawn’s part.
I don't think that was it; it was how Aubrey expressed herself. She was very disrespectful. Dawn spoke up too sometimes, but Diddy didn't fire her. Like Diddy said, you can say whatever you want, but a lot of how it's received depends on your words and your tone. I had a job that required me to give people bad news and criticism all of the time and I had to learn how to deliver it in a respectful and nonconfrontational way.
On the song ‘one shot’ although they ended up letting Aubrey singing 2nd verse, was originally done with aundrea’s vocals. I can imagine her voice (would have been better on than Aubrey)
Essence Bennett I knew that too! The way he was talking to her... earlier in the season he would diss her. That's what happens when you sleep with the boss in the music industry. They'll play the shit out of you and stop having respect for you.
He had something going on with Dawn also. Bc the minute Dawn didn't sound well on a song, he made a whole new verse just for her... It was the bridge at that. Dawn can sing, but not so much as to keep her on as a solo still. He should've given Aundrea a solo deal also.
Wasn’t it wrong that DIDDY had them write a whole new part for DAWN on the other song bc she couldn’t get it... and then they allowed her 50 takes to make it happen w the new part written just for her voice! This track, AUBREY was given a short time to sing a part and then cut out! Where’s her rewrite??? COX was short w her also.
Brian just didn't care for her voice. We've seen it in other groups too where certain producers fall in love with certain voices and they want to use their voices the most. Imagine if the members of 'N Sync had had that attitude. Everything was geared toward Justin and J.C. and Chris, Lance, and Joey were mostly back-up. They dropped their egos and got paid. Aubrey should have done the same.
So Dawn actually confirmed in an interview that the producers made it look like she was struggling in the studio as a part of her storyline and she went with it.
he was very short with her, i dont think he was diplomatic enough to explain his own feelings as to better help Aubrey. i didnt think she sounded bad.. maybe with some harmonies behind her voice her part could have sounded a bit more cohesive.
That whole whoa is me I’m so pretty (she was pretty) and I’m so sexy but I don’t wanna be act from Aubrey got so tiring. Girl we get it you don’t want people to only see your looks but you mention being pretty every 5 seconds.
Insecure people do this because they don't want to be known as that, but they feel like that's all they have to offer and/or that's all people want from them.
Maybe because she really is that pretty! When you’re as pretty as her and not getting substantial parts you’re gonna feel like you’re just the pretty one. Aubrey is sooooo stunning, especially in that era I don’t find it wierd how often she mentioned “I’m pretty” because she was upset about not being noticed for the talent she wanted to be noticed for. When you’re THAT pretty, you don’t realize how it sounds when you mention it because it’s just a fact.
Aubrey was being very dramatic. How many times has Shannon not been included in a song? If everyone had their own verse, there would be 5 verses. So i didn’t understand that
Okay but Aubrey you literally said yourself what the problem was . . . you were TRYING to sing strong. Stop trying so hard and just do what comes natural. Unless of course, you're someone who naturally just tries to hard and if that's the case . . . do you boo. But seriously, do not try to make it sound a certain way, just sing the way you know you can.
