I love watching people react to seeing them for the first time. It is a little bittersweet though, because their bass Avi. The guy with the dark hair and beard has left the group to spend more time with his family. They've pretty much been going nonstop since they formed the group 6 years ago for the reality show competition "The Sing-off", so you have got a lot of catching up to do with them. But you'll have a great time doing so.

@xheralt That article is kind of unclear and kind of clarifies Mitch as a counter-tenor after all so it isnt exactly boosting the point of saying he isnt one. (Also there were a ton of errors in the article so i wouldn't rely too heavily on it)

They have a "history" that the couch represents. After winning Season 3 of The Sing-Off Sony promptly opted out of the recording contract they'd won the next week. Sony stated that they didn't feel acapella music was marketable. But oddly they had offered a recording contract to the winner of acapella competition televised on NBC. Instead of giving up Pentatonix started doing these little homemade videos with the three main vocalist on the back of the couch and the base and beatboxer Seated on the floor and they have like one microphone. They uploaded them to RU-vid and eventually got a following after filming the video Daft Punk medley in a closet and a kitchen. The Daft Punk medley music video earned them their first Grammy Award. So they wanted to show how far they've come since the days of the couch videos they made.
Great reaction! If you want to see each of them sing, check out "PTX Imagine". They are Mitch - tenor/alto (sang the lead on this video), Scott - baritone, Kirstie - soprano/alto, Avi - deep bass, and Kevin - beat-boxer/tenor. Also, they do these "Evolution" videos, and you might want to check out one of those - Evolution of Beyoncé, Evolution of Music, Evolution of Michael Jackson. But anything you react to, we'll check out.
As a PTX newbie, you should probably start with their "Evolution of ..." videos ("Evolution of Music", "Evolution of Michael Jackson" and "Evolution of Beyoncé"). They are all one-take videos which give you an idea of their talents. Then progress on to "Daft Punk", which is a mashup of Daft Punk songs; the arrangement for this won them their first Grammy (and with 250,000,000+ views, is their most viewed video, for good reason). Then look at some of their original songs, like "Love Again", "Sing", "Can't Sleep Love" and "Run To You". They also have a boatload of stellar covers, such as "Jolene" (with Dolly Parton; their third Grammy win),"Hallelujah", "Problem", "Imagine", and "Can't Help Falling in Love". Almost all of their official videos will not cause copyright headaches, but don't do reactions to "No", "Mary Did you Know", or "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy (their second Grammy) because these videos have copyright issues and you'll have to take them down, pitch them (or eliminate the sound) or chop them into little pieces (which makes for a confusing, disjointed reaction). BTW, Avi Kaplan (the guy with the beard) is the bass whom you reacted so positively, left the group. His last performance with the group was on Sunday, September 3rd. He will be missed, but the group is looking for another bass to take over for him. The remaining members of the group released a video last month (a cover of Robyn's "Dancing on my Own"), with Kevin doing double duty as a beatboxer and a cellist (yes, he does both at the same time).

They won the sing-off and have won 3 Grammys since then. All of them are very strong vocalists. Mitch (the lead on this) and Kevin (the beatboxer) are both tenors, Kirstin is a mezzo-soprano, Scott (tall blonde) is a baritone and Avi is the bass. I would love to see more Pentatonix reactions from you, subbing for that :) Before you move forward with all the other requests though, I highly recommend you start off with their Evolutions which are all live performances. Evolution of Michael Jackson, Evolution of Beyonce and Evolution of Music. These are very good introductions to new PTX reactors. All their couch performances are live except for Dancing on my Own. So the others I recommend are Gold, No, Ride.. Anything by them is worth reacting to if I'm being honest, they are AMAZING!! After the Evolutions, I suggest you watch Daft Punk for which they won their first Grammy, and then Hallelujah. The requests will keep flowing in, so hope you're ready for the journey :) And trust me, it'll be well worth it

My initial reaction to them was EXACTLY the same! I stumbled across their rendition of Little Drummer Boy and my chin hit the floor and a Pentaholic was born. Fantastic reaction and look forward to more. Btw...prepare yourself for the Pentaholic invasion to your channel. We LOVE seeing people discover their immense talent :)

Pentaholic here. As predicted, the more reactions you do, the more of us will arrive. Nothing we like better than seeing new people become Pentaholics! I have been a fan since the first performance on the Sing-Off.
I loved the open-mouthed response to parts of the song. Hope you react to more of them. Anything you choose will be great, there are no wrong choices but Daft Punk is their most iconic "song" (it's a medley) so I'd recommend that. If you want a "live" song then I'd recommend their "Evolution of Michael Jackson" which was recorded in the take that you see in the video.
Scott and Mitch (the blond and the little dark haired guy) also make up SuperFruit. They have a new album out. The girl, Kirstin Maldonado, has a solo album and a lot of solo videos. Kevin Olusola, the black guy, also has a solo video out, the AMAZING "Down KOver". Avi, the bearded bass guy, has just left the band and has his own band, Avriel and the Sequoias. Their videos are sooo beautiful. I recommend ALL of them.
They are THE acapella group. Try some of their Christmas music, maybe "Mary did you know", "Carol of the Bells", "Little Drummer Boy" or "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy".. and maybe their first grammy winning performance, "Daft Punk", I really can't wait to have you see more of their stuff. :0)

Welcome to your PTX journey! I'm subbing so I can go along for the ride! ❤️ Something that is truly amazing about them is that they sound just as good (if not better) when they perform live! I won't give lots of suggestions, because honestly, it's all reaction-worthy. :) I will suggest, however, that you also check out Superfruit! Its Mitch and Scott from PTX - they've had a RU-vid channel for 4 years, and have done numerous covers as well. (Beyonce and Rihanna are must-sees), but they also recently released their first album and have all the corresponding music videos. Definitely worth checking out!
If you're looking for live videos, you should check out their Evolutions!!! The Beyoncé one is my fave but the Michael Jackson one was incredible, too!!!

Another a cappella group you might like is Home Free. They won "The Sing Off" the year after Pentatonix. They do a cover of "Can't Stop The Feeling" that's better than the original in my opinion and have fun with Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass". They have a great bass singer, a beat box that's super and all have excellent voices. My favorite Pentatonix video is "Imagine". ...... FEEEEEELS!! I see you have one thumbs down. Who can that idiot be?
I'm so glad you reacted to Pentatonix so that I was able to find you! Pentaholics are very obsessed with them, haha. The Queen in the middle is Mitch Grassi, the blonde next to him is Scott, the girl on Mitch's side is Kirstin, the African American man is Kevin, and the man with the awesome beard is Avi. Sadly, Avi had to leave the bad because it's what was best for him. His last performance as a part of PTX was on Sunday, September 3, 2017. On another note, please check out more Pentatonix! You might have figured this out already, but Scott is a low baritone. So when you hear Avi (or the current bass, Matt) singing or doing sound effects, and yet you STILL hear a bass line, that's Scott. He does it all the time. Early on, people were convinced they were over-dubbing, because they didn't know Scott could sing that low and fill in as the bass. If you watch their version of Sound of Silence, you get to hear it front and center.
Once you truly get hooked on Pentatonix, you have to check out Superfruit's videos! It's a RU-vid channel made by two of the members, Mitch and Scott. They doing musical videos and videos like challenges, vlogs, ect. They also had an EP come out and the second one comes out in less than two weeks!
If you wanted to see something where they got to show their strength, try "Sound of Silence" (official video), though that has their new bass, Matt, who came in when Avi had to leave for personal reasons. You will hear some REALLY strong voices.

Way, way, way too much use of the word "like". It becomes so distracting from the thoughts attempting to be communicated. It's a poor communication habit.
Your comments and analyses are very noteworthy and well thought out. The thing about your comments that distracts me is your overuse of the word "like". I recommend that you listen to your posting and count the number of times you use that filler word that has so invaded our verbal communication style
