Here is the story of this video as I've heard it: the song previous to this was a Kevin cello solo. The rest of the group was backstage during the solo, and Mitch, who was suffering from jet lag, quickly downed two Red Bulls. The group returned to the stage to begin the choral introduction while Kevin was backstage putting the cello away (which is why he's not seen onstage at the beginning). Kevin returns to the stage (not seen on camera) just as Avi hits that low note that begins the downfall of the Star Vista's sound system. The camera zooms out as Avi starts singing the intro to Aha. A sly smile can be seen on Kirstie's face, as if she knows what's about to happen. Just then, Mitch's Red Bulls kick in...and he proceeds to go completely INSANE on stage, while Avi continues to JOYOUSLY shred the sound system in the background. And thus, the live performance that most Pentaholics now consider to be the best of the group's career...made even more legendary by the fact that it apparently was only captured by this fan-made video!!
One day I listened to it and just focused on the background vocals. They are so complicated, and the syncopations and intricacy required to pull this piece off is really just amazing. Of course, Mitch is featured to maximum effect. I heard this live in Dallas and my whole body was just one huge goose bump.
you probably dont care at all but does anybody know of a way to log back into an instagram account?? I somehow lost the login password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me
@Max Mack thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im trying it out atm. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Lol!!!! Right?!?! Mitch and Avi are superhuman. Abi’s over there breaking the damn speakers while Mitch kills it. You could tell Mitch was loving life in that moment.
Awwww hell no Mitch, he is just showing off now! The things that man can do with his voice are unrivaled and the harmonies are always on point! Good God these people are gifted...what I would give to be that talented! Sidenote; I'm thinking Avi blew a few speaker's!
I love how they sound like a big choir at the beginning. So full and rounded. Mitch and Avi blow my mind! The syncopation is killer. Speaking of killer, Mitch is dark in this. LOVE IT Your reaction was exactly how I felt. 😍😍Love you both!
That shows how well Avi arranged the voicing (amount of pitch room between the parts 😁) and how well they performed it (blending, dynamics, pronunciation, everything!)
Freaky, I'm listening to PTX "Aha" on spotify and your notification pops up just as it starts playing. Love you guys. Been watching your videos for the last couple of months. You have made my rehab stay a little more tolerable.
I think you were impressed, huh? I wish you had watched/reacted to the official video of "Aha" first. It's an older one, and the contrast between it and the later live performances is stunning. (Sorry if you did react to it; I didn't see it.) I always recommend to reactors that they watch the official one first. But I loved this reaction video anyway! You two don't hold back!
I watched this video when it came out and every time I watch newer reaction videos like this from other channels I always think about this one. This is how it should be. Everyone nowadays just pauses the video and talks for 5 minutes instead of enjoying the song in its entirety and just reacting. That's how you have to do it with songs like this or you miss out on the actual experience. I'm sure it has something to do with copyright but this video lives in my head rent-free because it's 1,000 times better lol
Thank you guys for finally reacting to this , I loved your faces , priceless . Y'all should react to their covers of problem, run to you , perfume medley, or to their performances on the sing off ( the show where they won their recording contract ) including the performances on later seasons for the Christmas episodes.
I love how you get all excited during the opening classical piece thinking that’s why everyone was all up in your comments and then it actually starts. Haha
So glad you did this one TnT! Your appreciation of their amazing talents, and reaction, so fun to watch as always. Still hoping someday you'll get to some of my other pix faves. Run to you. If I ever fall in love (ft Jason derulo). Gold. Well so many. In the mentime enjoying watching you and thank you for brightening out days! Ps also enjoyed your Dimash Kudaibergens. Omg.
I saw the notification and freaked out! YES THAT WAS AMAZING (THEM AND YOUR REACTION)! Loved your reaction! Can't wait to see your next Pentatonix video! :D
FINALLY.!! THANK YOU.!! You have to watch their gold and ride cover next.. and run to you which is an original. and from superfruit, please please the anti medley and empire medley.!! Love you guys. :)
Yes!!!!!! You finally got to this! Tho it's fine cuz I think you need to get to know them a little before taking this one on! Your guys reaction was all of ours!!! I watch this vid at least once a week or more and tho I've seen a thousand times I am still blown away by Queen Mitch!! Avi too. Sad he's leaving too. This song without him? Idk. Big shoes to fill for sure! Anyway thanks for sharing!! ❤️
I am back, watching again. Cause you guys are GREAT! I think it's so fun to watch this with reactors that grin and start dancing along with Mitch when he starts that "LA, LA, LA, LA.. LA, LA, LA, LA,... LA, LA, LA, LA...." part! I LOVE IT! makes it fun! ☺️(freaking auto-correct thinks I'm talking about Los Angeles here!) love your reactions!
Bruh's! I just found you through your PTX reaction videos! Y'all ROCK, and you reactions fantastic!!!!!! Subb'ed! Can't wait to watch more!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘😎😎😎🤣🤣🤣
Thank you so much for reacting to this! This might me kind of repetitive but there's a performance of this that they did recently at the a cappella academy that's pretty funny
Love your reactions because I can tell how much you appreciate music and I LOVE the fact that you don't talk over the music and just listen to it. Also love your commentary at the end :) Seeing as you love Pentatonix and Avi's crazy bass voice, I think you should check out another a capella band, less known, called Home Free. Tim, their bass, is the absolute best bass alive at the moment. No joke. He can reach notes that are inhumanly low, can go as high as a tenor and just has an incredible voice. Start with Home Free's cover of Ring Of Fire, which actually features Avi! And watch out for Tim's jaw-dropping low note at the end. If you're impressed (which I guarantee you will be), check out their live version of it on the Sing Off after (with headphones). They took it down a semi tone, Tim actually hits that note even lower. And if you do, please film your reaction!
Oh and if you liked that beginning part, you guys would probably enjoy a lot of medieval religious polyphony. Check out Allegri's Miserere: It's a song asking God for forgiveness, and it is simply haunting. Enjoy!
