Scott and Mitchell have a separate group together called Superfruit. They have a song with Mary Lambert, Mario Jose and Brian Justin Crumb. It's a cover of Katy Perry's "Rise". It is absolutely AMAZING to say the least. And you should totally react to Avi's song "Change on the rise". That song shows how under-utilized his voice was, in my opinion. A couple of observations. As many people have mentioned, the megaphone is a prop, and the distortion is added through the microphone for live performances (I've seen them live twice, and they performed this at both shows). All of their official videos are them lip-synching their studio recording, and they generally have high production values. If you see a mike, it is a live performance. The couch is a callback to their earliest performances, and the couch moving down the road symbolizes the journey their career took them. They used a pair of motorized dollies for the propulsion, and there is a behind-the-scenes video that includes a shot where Kevin fell off the couch.

Very few reactors understand why they panned from side to side in the beginning. You knew immediately. Everyone notices it, but most don't know that it was on the Queen recording that way.

If you really want to see what Kirstin can do, watch PTX'S performance of SEASONS OF LOVE on the PBS 4th of July Special last Saturday. It is on the Capital Concerts Channel and the way Kirstin closes the song is absolutely next level.

Most of them have their own channels: Superfruit, scotthoying, kirstin, KO, and Avi Kaplan. Kirstin put out an EP in 2017.

Queen guitarist Brian May shared this on his social media with the caption: "Great Version...Enjoy". That's the highest praise I can imagine. The megaphone is a prop - Mitch has done that part in concert without it. As you said, Avi has his solo career now, but also every member of PTX (with the possible exception of Matt) has his/her own side projects, and each one is definitely worth checking out.

You can talk about Mitchy all you want he is truly a very special talent, and his vocals are amazing!!!!

The megaphone is just a prop. Mitch is making that sound on his own and when he does it live and it sounds the exact same.

To me, Geoff (VoicePlay) has the lowest with Tim (Home Free) a very close second if not equal. Avi (Pentatonix) does not go quite as low, but he has a fuller, rounder sound (maybe better trained since he was studying opera). But they are all fantastic basses. Voctave also has a wonderful bass, but I haven't had a chance to really compare him with the other 3.

It's motorized ! there is a segment of them 'playing with it'. Kind of cute.

11:04 And THIS is why we always tell reactors to rewind 5 seconds or so before you resume the video after a pause. After EVERY pause. I’d be shocked if I am the first to say this to you. Rewinding allows you to recapture the flow of the song, and assures that you don’t miss something important. I cannot tell you how many times I have seen that happen.

Pausing is not problematic as long as its for reaction or constructive critique of the content. Pauses just for copywrite are annoying, but part of the process of reacting on youtube. As others have mentioned, many reactors have success by putting a filter/transparency over the video itself and then they don't have to pause as much. Still a decent reaction if a touch long. Keep it up :)

You can brag on Mitch as much as you want. Love love him. His right around my kids ages, and we are from Texas also about 30 minutes from Arlington where Scott. Mitch, and Kristie grew up.

IMO, this is the first of many "classic" performances they have put out. PTX is the master of innovation and arrangements and that alone makes for outstanding performances. All their vocal talents then get added atop the mix for an unforgettable group experience.

Love your reactions! I have seen other reactors & comments that a way to avoid the pausing for copyright, you can put a filter on the video. We’ve all seen them a hundred times anyway….it’s the reaction we’re here for. 😊

Geoff, Avi, and Tim - They pretty much all have a 5-octave range. Avi has, in my opinion, the smoothest of the 3, Tim has the twang and Geoff has the Umph. They all could sing me the phone book and I would be in heaven. lol.

You keep talking about Mitch as much as you want. You're allowed to have a favorite as long as you appreciate all of them (which you do). I would, however, echo other folks comments that you should try a filter instead of large amount of pausing. One reactor uses a cartoon filter over the video. Another puts gold sparkles. You should give it a go. :)

I watch your reaction more than the video. I have seen this video hundreds of times. If you have to cut it, I know you will leave in the parts that you like the best. You are allowed to have favorites and you will find as you continue "down the rabbit hole" that each of them lead different songs, and you will like them the same as you like Mitch. Since Avi is Jewish, your observation is VERY interesting. Kirstie has many "crushes". You are allowed to be one of them. She lives with her boyfriend. They are family to each other and have said so on many occasions. They consider you and me family, too. Thank you for your reaction. I look forward to your next PTX reaction.

I know this is and older vid but I wanted to comment any way. I love Queen & Freddie Mercury. As a Brit I have a special soft spot for them. But I have to say that this has become my fave version. And Mitch was perfect for the lead. You hit the nail on the head about Scott being perfect for the rock part, and I would love love love to hear him do more rock. He has a duet of "Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" which is maybe as close as he has gotten to the genre, even though it's technically a ballad. You appreciate Mitch as much as you like, he's amazing and this was absolutely his song, he's perfect for it. Even if he was your fave I would never apologise for that, we all have our faves, sometimes it changes with the song or season. You're the first reactor I've seen who was immediately unsure hat the megaphone was a prop just designed to show you who is making he noise, I believe it is and in live performances Mitch creates the electric guitar sound without it. I loved your comment about how was he not out of breath, there's a Christmas song called carolmofnthe bells that is affectionately referred to as "does Mitch breathe?" His breath control is insane. I think my fave conspiracy theory might be that Mitch is Freddie reincarnated because he was born 24th July 1992, while Freddie passed 24th Nov 1991! I can talk for ages about how awesome Mitch is...i truly think he's a once jn a generation voice. However, he's not actually my fave, Scott is. He has such an amazing versatility and he also has this ability to allow anyone he sings with to reach their best version of their voice, like he encourages the best out of them, he supports and matches their vocals but never overpowers or outshines. He's also a constant well of creative ideas. His drive, determination & vision are what allowed Pentatonix to push forward and forge their own pa in an industry that wasn't designed for them. Kirstie has described him as the heart of the group. I'm sure others have probably already pointed you towards these by now, but I'm still going through your reactions to their music. So...yes, they do all have solo work out there (some of it is easier to find than others because Scott & Mitch privated everything on their solo channels before launching certain solo work - Mitch for Messer & Scott for Mars), but they can still be found in reuploads by fans): Kevin (his chanel is K.O.)- Down & Sign Of The Times, among many others. Kirstie - Break A Little Mitch - The Graveyard, Find You, and Your Power, but also his Messer project - Love Suppl,y Angel's Pray, etc Scott - Mars is his most recent, the older stuff would be - I Should Tell Ya Momma On You, Wake Me Up, etc. He also has a bunch of duets, such as Lost On You with Mario Jose, which is stunning, and Lose Us with Rozzi Crane, etc. Scott & Mitch also have their Superfruit channel with so much awesome stuff on there. A bunch of medleys and an album full of originals all with a music video (in fact I believe Bad 4 Us has 2 lol, the animated one is best imo). And then of course, Avi has amassed quite the collection of awesome solo music now. The only one I don't know with solo stuff is Matt. As for who has he deeper bass, that probably also has been answered but I believe Geoff Castalucci has just a slightly deeper bass than Avi, and Tim Foust too, but I'm sure I've heard someone say that it might be because he uses subharmonic notes to reach lower, I'm not sure. However, I don't think either of them can do the overtones/throat singing that Avi can which can I've his voice a whole other dimension (and an almost alien quality), not to mention the guy has the most melodic & pleasing to the ear whistle I've ever heard.

Kirstin has some solo stuff on her Kirstin channel. Mitch and Scott have a channel called Superfruit and do various things, including music. Kevin has his own channel called KO for his KOvers of songs like "Down", where he actually uses most of skills more or less at once. Mitch has a few solo YT bits lately - quite good.

You had me rolling at all they need is a couch. There are behind the scenes videos for summer Pentatonix songs. There is 1 for bohemian rhapsody. It explains the couch is on remote. The purpose of the couch Is to pay homage to how they started. They were dropped by the record label that wad supposed to sign them as part of the prize four winning the sing off. The record label Canceled the Deal. So PTX Just filmed their own videos sitting on a couch with the camera on them And did it all in one take. The Megaphone is a prop. I have seen this video many Many many times and you are the 1st reactor to mention that the panning that they do with the headphones Is The same as what is done in the original. Brian may So loved this cover that he posted it on his social media sites. When they do the sat up at the sky I always wondered why There wore four shooting stars not 5 sincere 5 members in PTX. Then I read a comment that the night sky is an homage to bryan may because he's and astrophysicists and the four shooting stars represent the fout members of queen. At least that's how I explain the 4 shooting stars to my self. And thank you very much for answering my question about how Difficult it is to sing while Lying down. Check out some other reactors they put up filters or Blurred out the whole video or put writing up there that says it's there for SME Blocking. You don't necessarily have to stop it as much unless that is what your experience has been. I know to reactors That we'll watch A video twice in a row without ever stopping. I just don't get it. Anyway...other reactors use filters such as turning the whole thing (themselves as well) into a cartoon. Then they don't pause as often. Next you should do their Gold cover. They kill it! We get you having to pause, but there are DEFINITELY other ways around it besides pausing literally every five seconds or cutting parts out of the video, no matter what SME says. Try putting some kind of color, blur or transparency effect over the video, or superimposing your channel logo over it. I usually am OK with the pauses, but this is just way overboard.

The couch is both physical and symbolic. They developed largely sitting on the couch and learning to sing together and it has taken them on a ride from the edge of failure (pre- Daft Punk) to sudden initial success (Daft Punk, Sing, ...) and on to various levels of success and celebrity through the years.

Don't worry about complainers. The whole idea is to get your reaction and take. If they don't like it and you change, it is no longer real. Don't feel the need to appologize to complainers. I love Queen. They were trailblazers, but PTX performs this live.....all the way thru. It is my understanding that Queen recorded the middle operatic section and played video on stage instead of performing that section live. Just an observation. I slant toward PTX in almost all of their covers. Do yourself a favor and listen to Kiara's "Gold", and then listen to the PTX version. There is a reason people say they don't just cover, they upgrade. 😁

Personally, I don't mind you talking about Mitch, because his voice is angelic. A lot of reactors have a face the first time they hear Mitch unleash, and the face has a name: The Mitch Slap lol. I recommend watching their cover of "Can't Hold Us." There's nothing these guys can't do! Or "Gold" is another couch song, but I highly recommend watching Kiiara's original first, it makes the cover that more impressive imo!

Hey hun, I have a request for you.. I know you're just going down the rabbit hole of PTX and VoicePlay, but there is another I think you'd really love as well. They have great harmonies, intricate arrangements, and just amazing talent all around. Check out Home Free - Man of Constant Sorrow, or Home Free has a cover of Ring of Fire that features Avi Kaplan too.. I think you'd love em!

I don't think it is fair to compare them as they are done so differently. Pentatonix - with only 5 members and no instruments (yes, I know the voice is an instrument) does such a wonderful job paying homage to the original. Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody is so iconic that it has a place of its own - with more members and lots of instruments. I love both versions and would play them both equally. It's like The Sound of Silence - done by Simon & Garfunkel, Disturbed and Pentatonix. They are all WONDERFUL, but completely different. You can tell immediately which version is being played. However, there is never a doubt as to which song they are all 3 doing. Some artists seem to feel they have to make major changes to a song to "make it their own" but then there are those that keep like 95% of the song, but that last 5% is where they really make it their own without losing ANYTHING of the original. (and we know there are those who try to do an exact copy of the original and bomb!)

The last part of they chilling in the couch ...Scott, Cristin and and Mitch have been friends since they were 10 years old. They went to High School together, hence the closeness. BTW. If i may give you a suggestion... Maybe get some fun facts standing by before the reactions. In ten years, believe me, there is plenty of material. That may help you through the pauses. (The pause are also a blessing in disguise. Don't you see that the viewing time will increase as the reaction flows? That is for your benefit on RU-vid.) Hint hint... :)

You asked this months ago. However, since you specifically asked, my late night wondering led me to check the ranges on the three basses(and, yes the others) in the Acapella groups. Per a quick Google and RU-vid review: Avi Kaplan, Pentatonix, D1-C5; Tim Faust, Home Free, A0-A5; Geoff Castellucci, Voice Play, C#1-A5. All were on the "Sing-Off", Avi's group won season 3; Tim's won season 4; but Geoff's group were Finalists on season 4!

Geoff Castelucci (Voiceplay) has the deepest of the 3. Tim Foust (Home Free) is next, he actually has a 5 octave range. He helped Avi learn to go lower in his voice. Avi was operatically trained and can do overtone singing. They are all 3 Basso Profundo's I believe. If you haven't checked it out yet, Home Free did a cover of Ring of Fire FEATURING AVI!!!!!! My butt always vibrates when I blast it in the car😂😂😂 Oh.....and the megaphone is just a prop, that's all Mitch!

SME is the worst! We understand frequent pausing, no worries! They have all done some solo stuff (except Matt, not sure about Matt) at one point or another. Scott does some wonderful collabs, too! Mitch's new solo baby is an alter ego named Messer. It's starting off to be amazing! He also did a cover of Billie Eilish's Your Power which I can't listen to enough! Kevin (KO) has done some wonderful cello/vocal mixes that will knock you out! Kirstin has done some solo stuff. The best thing to come out of PTX is Superfruit (Scott & Mitch's YT channel)! The original is the original ... but this is the very best cover, Regarding a bunch of friends coming over ... check out "Frozen Medley" by Superfruit (Mitch and Scott's side project, which is sort of mothballed now, but has some very interesting content).

Please or ore the trolls. Some of the worst trolls are actually fiercely loyal Pentaholics. Depending on the song, there may be a particular member who stands out. You can’t be impressed with these covers if there was only 1 amazingly talented singer. Please enjoy. It sounds pretty similar live though, because the whiny sound of it is just Mitch, and it works as a guitar sound even without the distortion 😋 Re: Mitch lying on the couch - the video was recorded separately from the audio.... but I've definitely seen live performances of this where he lies down on stage for a little bit while singing lmao

Avi is the bass. I've heard him sing down to A1, but I suspect he can go a few notes lower. I think Geoff Castellucci can go lower than Avi. Tim Foust of Home Free can also go a little lower.

Loved your reaction. If you put a transparent screen on, I think you won’t be blocked much. I’ve seen that on other reactors.

Mitch does the same thing on stage/live without the megaphone, it is just a prop in this video. When PTX use instruments (piano or cello) you will see it in their video as well as on stage. They don't do anything on video that they can't do on stage live in front of an audience. BTW, I've seen this video played by a lot of reactors and none pause it as often as you do and I have to wonder what the difference is. I know of copyrights, but it's the same video for others as it is for you. Just wondering.

The usual comment is "they don't do covers, they do upgrades." Just a suggestion, as I'm not terribly knowledgeable, other reactors often use a filter over the video. It's a bit irritating but not as much as so much pausing.

Ok keep talking about Mitch. They are each amazing in their own right ... but Mitch he is a gift from God. It took them 5 years to put this together and get it right. You know that it is good because Brian May put it on his Facebook page and just put "Enjoy" When it goes to a shot of the night sky there are 4 shooting stars a tribute to the 4 members of Queen.

I must be odd - I don't consider people who *don't* pause and react, reactors The ones who simply play things through with facial expressions, and finish with "that was awesome" - after viewing a few of their "reactions", it seems to get very old hat and contrived Secondly (in my opinion), the heavy handed need to totally "destroy" the original content that is being broadcast by the reactor by breaking up the original content, isn't to destroy reactors - but to help keep uninterrupted content on the channels that are trying very hard to make money from their own content (which is easily accessed) Finally - I find it annoying when viewers get angry at reactors reacting Just my view on the whole thing Ooops, btw - great reaction!

They weren't singing while lying on the couch or dancing or doing anything you see in the video they were lip syncing themselves. They record the singing while standing, eyes closed and concentrating very much on their sound prior to the video. This is standard practice. ..

Yes, you have to pause fairly frequently, but you don't have to pause for long and you definitely don't have to keep apologizing for it. We have watched reaction videos of PTX before.
