I've been feeling like it's almost time for me to move out of my relatives home so in today's video, I go out to explore a couple different apartments in San Jose, California. The luxury apartments we toured ranged from $1700-2400/month so they were quite expensive but makes sense for living in the Bay Area lol. Let me know down below which one of these apartments was your favorite! Also, if you live in the Bay Area, let me know which apartments you think make the most sense for the money/space!

I used to tell people that if you don't make $100K a year then don't come to San Jose. I have changed that $100K to $150K.

pro tip: stay at home as long as you can. 2nd tip: once you "upgrade" your living situation, you'll never want to downgrade 🤣 , nice apartments to just normal apartments

Yeah you're right haha honestly all apartment prices in the Bay Area are similar though so "luxury" is really just "normal" :(

Hey man appreciate the video; currently looking to rent a 1bedroom. Could you please list the apartments that you visited in this video? Also, did you see any good alternatives to downtown San Jose such as downtown Campbell or Cupertino?

Glad you enjoyed the video! I didn't look at any places in Campbell or Cupertino since they are a bit further than I wanted. The first apartment was Modera San Pedro Square, the second one was Patina at Midtown :) Make sure to check out part 2 if you haven't done so yet!

Love your videos! I've been apartment hunting and its been discouraging but recently came across Patina and I've been approved but not 100% sure about the location. How come you didn't opt for Patina?

Patina is in an okay location -- not directly downtown so it's a bit quieter I would say but you're still close enough to the night life. Only reason why I didn't go with them is because I ended up buying a condo instead :)

I miss living in an apartment in San Francisco, but currently saving money living at relatives house as well. Going to aim for saving enough for a down payment on a house, maybe Oregon. Houses are so cheap there compared to the Bay Area. But now is a good time to move into an apartment though, rent is so low atm. Ngl it is pretty tempting to rent an apartment in San Jose myself and my significant other work in Mountain View and Cupertino atm so would make sense. Maybe we will see you around! lol

Oregon is nice w/ no sales tax as well. Housing is way better than the bay area. Is remote not an option? I feel like companies have opened up to it unless you have to do physical labor on location.

Smart move to stay with your relatives -- especially if you plan on buying a house soon. I hope there will be more rent specials now that we are hit with another wave of this pandemic but we'll see.. definitely don't be shy to say hi if we run into each other!

Looked at a few spots in North SJ, ultimately signing my apt lease in Union City. Made sure the community had ev charging; i'll be ordering my Model 3 in the near future (with your ref code). I believe ChargePoint is charging $20/month for your charge station + electricity at my place.

change the white balance settings to auto it will balance for the tungsten light whenever you have those non-white light areas

We came from Los Angeles. We are now living in Latitude37 here in San Jose. It’s considered a luxurious apartment. Our apartment is a 2bed 2bath for $2700. Believe it or not, its actually cheap as you can see from the apartments he showed. They accepted me even though my credit was very low at like 520. Had to pay $500 more in down payment. 😂 Once our lease is up we are OUT! We came from LA paying $900 a month for a 1 bed 1 bath triplex but had a nice front yard . Hopefully, we’re able to go back to LA once our lease is up.

2 bed 2 bath for $2,700 is not bad at all especially if you split rent or live in a room with a partner! The bay is pretty expensive overall haha I'd definitely love to live in LA for a couple of years one day

3k for a studio, damn wtf. I pay about 2k for a pretty big 1b 1 bath (1500 sq ft) with basement + garage in the downtown-ish area and I still feel like it's steep. I guess I should consider myself lucky.

Got a 800+ square ft 1b/1b for 1900 in SJ took me maybe 5 months to find it. Have a coin op laundry and no parking but saving 200+ a month compared to other places

@@JayWuOfficial If you move here then be aware that San Jose is EXPENSIVE. It isn't just housing. Gas prices, taxes are high as well.

There's superchargers all over the bay and I use them every time I need to charge so it wouldn't be a problem :)

Buy if you can. Renting is just a waste of money. Was renting in Milpitas for over 3 years waiting for San Jose housing prices to go down. Big mistake as very year prices kept going up. I was lucky just to be able to buy a 1350sft 3bed 2bath home in south san jose for 800K in Oct 2019. Now the house is worth 1.1M. You can learn from my mistake.

This is insane is there a reason why you want to stay in San Jose? Are you able to work remote (I'm assuming you're in tech)? You could save so much if you moved out of state and invest the difference into Tesla stocks lol. I use to work and live in San Diego doing tech before the pandemic but now our company is allowing us to work remote so it doesn't really make any sense to pay high taxes and cost of living of California. For instance, states w/ no income tax like Nevada it would be an instant win for those working in tech in high tax brackets and there's constant new house developments that are affordable.

Traffic is crazy there. It was my least favorite area to go to but sounds like you are getting better deals because of the pandemic. I moved out of the Bay Area because of the high rent but what some don’t understand, these prices are actually good for the location.

We worked in software in Silicon Valley and left in December 2017. Bought a custom home in a gated community. 2600 square feet, 4 bed, 3 bath, with a large pool and spa in the rear. Built in 1999 so it was 18 years old when we bought it. Lot size: about 13,000 square feet. This state has no income tax. The home cost us $375,000. It is located in the most exclusive zip code in the area. Top schools. Gas costs $2.50 a gallon here. Due to remote work, it's shocking people still live in the bay area. The quality of life issues are what drove us out. We lived in a neighborhood of multi-million $ homes. At one point, a homeless guy took up residence in the woods across from our home. At around 2am or 3am he would start shouting obscenities and wake up the neighborhood. That went on for nearly 4 months. The cops refused to do anything to remove him from the area. Probably on orders from higher up. Quality of life issues made us leave the bay area and California. When I was a computer science student at UC Berkeley and the wife was crossing the bay bridge every day to attend UCSF, at that time, San Francisco had won the award "Cleanest Big City in the U.S." for like 4 or 5 years in a row. You know, no one would believe that now. No one. But it was such a nice city in the early 1990s. . .

@@JayWuOfficial In the early 1990s San Fran was a tourist haven, and you could buy a home in the South Bay, in Sunnyvale for example, in a good neighborhood for under $200k, there were tons of affordable apartments, and the streets and sidewalks were packed with highly-educated working people. The homeless issue did not exist. The gangs and graffiti problems didn't exist. The only place we saw a vagrant or two was near Sproul Plaza on campus - there was a little park called "People's Park" there in Berkeley where potheads would hang around. But it wasn't dangerous. Fisherman's Wharf, all the tourist attractions, were safe, drama-free, and a great experience. We left California because we experienced the decline. The change was too fast and too stark to ignore. That state has so many good things about it but the management of the state, the political leaders, just appear to be very indifferent to what people want. It was not like that in the 1990s.

Interesting video about apt in San Jose yet I use to live in San jose for me it’s super expensive I am glad I moved out of there when I did it’s beyond me how people want to live there nor want to find an apt there if you can afford to live all power to you but in general way to expensive and way to much weirdos and homeless camps I am sure it’s worse now, plus to liberal democratic for me.
