I disagree, if a thief is trying to break in they would naturally try and kick the door in not outward.... This would give the homeowner time to grab their chosen form of weapons to protect themselves.... I completely understand why Spencer and Mackenzie did the door this way and they're Bears up in their area....

Why not wait and finish inside after you've moved. Even slight racking and jostling means potential for cracked wall, pressure on pvc leading to leaks later. Just don't see why take the risk. That's a steep narrow driveway on the new property. Just that section alone seems rugged and risky.

I would be cautious about how you move the cabin, once completed, onto and off of the transport trailer. It likely has lost some of its structural integrity with all the window and door openings despite the added opening framing. With all the added weight of the interior build out, it may not be wise to crane rig it onto a trailer without using some type of rigging assembly with spreader beams that ensure the lifting force is directed upward on the containers corners versus inwards which at worse may collapse it or at best break much of your windows and doors. Please consult a crane and rigging professional. Congrats on “Door #4”! 😉. Hopefully getting gravel laid on the mountain lane soon so it can pack and settle before sending a semi trailer up it. Dump trucks may get stuck too. Might have to get a load or two dumped at the bottom and bucket a thin layer on any questionable areas. All the best.

It's looking fabulous! Quick question, Why did you install the door opening out instead of the normal inward? I know in coastal areas like Florida you do this for hurricanes, etc. Also, I know you are in the woods and all but wouldn't you want the hinges to be on the inside for security reasons? I mean, you can remove the pins of the hinge and take the door off right? It's just an observation, I guess living in Houston you learn to look for safety precautions... Thanks for sharing your lives with us and welcome home!

I have never ever commented before and I've watched for a bit. I recently came across a water trapping system in the arid areas of Peru where they put up mesh nets to catch morning dew. The attaches to the mess and gravity pulls it down to pvc pipes that then run in to drums. I saw it and though hmm maybe you could look it up and see if it works for you when the dry season hits.

They could be fitted out by a charity organisation and shipped to where they are needed, so many people have lost there homes due to fire or flooding or even earthquake's. There are so many empty and even abandoned containers in ports around the world. The governments around the world should see how you've made your home and create more! That mud-dobber nest DOES CERTAINLY look like artwork. However to make it last without crumbling away, you would undoubtedly need to spray it with laquer, perhaps even after that when the outside film has dried, dip it in lacquer and let the excess drain out.

Looking great and how did those sweethearts get big so fast They are growing like weeds. Man alive! Cute as cute can be and they are growing up like mine did, in the country and best friends and playmates. Fresh air...............it's all wonderful. Blessings

FYI , all outside doors open in.Your hinge pins should not be on the outside so an intruder can’t pop out your pins and enter your home. Plus they open in because if it snowed a lot , you would not be able to open your door from the inside. Plus , from the outside the door is supposed to be on the inside of the door box. in hindsight, you may have had the correct door from day one. Ps , I still do love watching you guys.
