Pier Point are in the top 3 finalists for the national fish and chip awards 2023, and the ceremony is in February where the winner will be announced then. Oh and you have to try their tartar sauce!!!!!! Trust me!!!!

The Fish & Chip awards are won by establishments that enter them. That tells it's own story, self ramping. They should not need to enter if they are that good, they would be too busy to worry about some silly awards, full of self rampers. As for the price...good God, unbelievably pricey.

Bit pricey for eating in, but the food looked ok. Lee the manager was very polite, and the view, got to love Torquay. I used to fish with my dad on the harbour wall catching Mackerel, and loved the amusement arcades back in the day. Glad you enjoyed. All the best.

Another great video Lee. One of my favourite places in Devon is Torquay, absolutely beautiful surroundings and the people there are very polite and friendly. The fish and chips looked amazing and just love the presentation, and that Lee was really a nice guy, definitely 10/10 for me. Looked good. Bit pricey for a deconstructed fish supper. Got a fish supper at Shanghai Takeaway, Perth last week for £6.80. Good sized portion. Another good vlog.

So not really a chip shop but a restaurant selling fish and chips in a tourist hot spot and charging premium prices because of the waiter service and vistas. Having said all that the food really did look top dollar and on a cold day it would be lovely to warm up and have a sit down , how warm was it in there as one staff member wearing a scarf ? It was slightly above my comfort zone price wise taking into account I always dine out as a couple and think a meal deal including bread and butter plus pot of tea at a more realistic £20 mark would bring in more customers.....a 9+ for me , almost there 👍

You can’t see Dartmouth from Torquay. The bay is Torquay, paignton and Brixham at the end. Dartmouth is around the corner from Brixham and not visible. If you want the best fish and chips head to Brixham next time. Brixham fish is some of the best if not the best in the UK.

Great video! Fish and chips done right is one of life's pleasures! Hopefully one day you'll visit my town of Eastbourne. Very popular town. There's plenty of great fish and chip places and cooked breakfast places. Lots of great places to visit too.

How much !!!!!!! We had a butcher up in Stranraer who won an award a block of slice sausage went from £8 to £14 absolutely shocking sorry would never pay that for fish n chips when I could get a sirloin steak for a tenner cheaper

Oh Cod, not more fish and chips, expensive for what you had but looked nice, I absolutely love Tartar sauce and sea salt on my fish and chips 😋. 9 out of 10 only because of the price, I had roe and chips and curry sauce from my local chippy for £3.44 beat that, and it was nice. Where's that place at the end of the video, Newquay, lol 😆 👍

Always enjoy your reviews Lee. The restaurant looked very nice, clean with genuinely friendly staff. Your meal looked really nice too. My observation would be that it was on the expensive side. There again, any restaurant in that location with that view is never going to be cheap as the business rates would be eye watering there I guess. Will definitely visit Ella’s and support them next time I’m down there - very worthwhile cause - great idea to have their own coffee van. Hope you rounded it up when you bought the coffee and mince pie.

Looked nice but when the chips are in a bowl you know it's to disguise a tiny portion and yep, hardly any there. Fish was small too and soooo expensive.

Another very well presented video. Like the chips 10/10 Ella's mobile cafe is a great idea too .. never seen a charity cagfe before. There are plenty of charity shops in my home town, but not everybody wants to buy second hand clothing and bric-a-brac. A charity coffee and cake would be very popular. Well done Ella !

Best time to visit in the winter , sat in a nice cosy pub overlooking the harbour, not so many tourists as well .Heaven , watch the world go by. Last time i went in the pier point it was a harvester i think quite a few years ago , nice place by the looks now big improvement.

The only downside for me is the price, just a little more than I would be comfortable to pay.

At my local chippy, I can absolutely feed a family of 3 for less than what you paid for this one meal, and each meal is larger than what you had there and good quality. It looked nice don't get me wrong, but in your words, how much!!! Oh by the way, my local is award winning too, but for now, not in the future. Lee was a gent though, top marks to him. Great review - ive never been down that way. That fish looked first rate. Great to see pleasant genuine service is still out there as well. Bit of a shocker on price - but as you say, you get to sit indoors with a lovely view and great ambience. If you just want the food and go i see its a lot cheaper. Will certainly visit if i get to that part of the country.

Hi Lee wow what a lovely place. Thoses lovely views while having fish and chips. Really nice man that runs it.off the charts. Never seen a teapot that size for that price.

Tourist trap at tourist prices. Best fish n chip in the Bay....Drakes in Babbacombe , Christie's in Torquay, St Mary's in Plainmoor, Richards plaice in Paignton and Harbour fish and chips Brixham maybe best of them all. If you want decent value fish and chips in Torquay harbour the green ginger wetherspoons is the best option and a free pimt.

If the takeaway price is for the same serving, then I would say it's very expensive but perhaps understandable for the area; but double that to eat in? That's crazy.

I've always put the salt on first and then the vinegar. Suppose you could always shake the salt in your left hand and the vinegar in your right hand at the same time.

I agree those ones weren't great 🫤 How can that place of won the award for 2023?! It isn't here yet! I HATE awards given out before the year starts, like the best mobile of 2023 etc, might as well be the best chippy 2050!!!! £2.10 for a sausage!!!!! WT.......!!!! No they haven't got the 2023 award because THERE ISN'T SUCH A THING YET!!!! 😆 Wow, Lee looked overwhelmed by the award, must be a very special one 🙄😆 Sit down menu charging £3.50 for a side of chips when they are £3.10 for a large on the take away menu, and Curry sauce is normally £1.50 but on that sit down menu its £2.50, same with the mushy peas at £1.50 vs £2 - not good at all!! And that's at a glance!!! On the board prices you filmed at about 7:33 that meal would have been £13.80, so they are charging £5.45 to eat in?! That's incredible!!!! A few pence on each item, yeh, but not that much! Blimey!!! Add the curry sauce and tea and it's only £17.20!!! They are taking the proverbial!!! Loving the look of the batter, chips and curry sauce! Looks good! Chips could have been cooked a bit longer for me, but still good! Peas look the right colour even though I don't like them lol. Oh gosh, if they include bread and butter then that'll add another £4.60!!! 😆 Nearly everyone has been the salt of the earth lately, a new saying!!! 😆 £6.45 more expensive to eat in, a disgrace! Yes, it looked good, chips slightly underdone, but I CAN't let that pricing go, really got me wound up for that! I'm going to have to go for a 6.2/10, they need to get a new dishwasher and drop the paper on the plate or something if it's costing them that much!

always vinegar first and it helps he salt stick to the chips, i like the pickled onion vinegar but that seems to have stopped lately.

Lee it’s salt then vinegar to wash it down then finish with salt to stick to the vinegar that’s the way 👏

We ate there during the summer, very tasty and good quality, maybe slightly expensive but you can takeaway next door and the view is priceless.

post script, i do hope they do well tbh Lee, gone was the days of home made condiments in chip shops esp in the south, some even made home made steak pies. yup gone was them days to easier mass produced alternatives.
