I reckon you make a big mistake when you remove the air box .. your snorkel pluming shold go to the box .. its there as a catch can for water .. When you drive in the rain now it well go directly to your air filter
@ignitionoffroad5028
@ignitionoffroad5028 6 лет назад
mark talfah this is the same setup many others are running on their Subaru’s. While I do agree with this somewhat, the snorkel itself is designed to catch water and channel it out before it reaches the air box. I am also planning on adding a cyclonic pre-filter to further remove the risk of water reaching the engine
@spencerheffernan1552
@spencerheffernan1552 3 года назад

Thanks for following my RU-vid journey! The park or daytime running lights on the SG are difficult to access. You have to reach them from the fenders. There are holes into the fender from the engine bay but they are tight. I can just reach them with my small hands, but otherwise you might have to pull out the headlights.

Love it! This thing looks sick. I am wanting to do the same on my 02 outback wagon and curious if this particular one would work as well. Was also curious if you've had any hydrolock or any water or other shit fuck up your vehicle from running this kind of setup as it seems since it doesn't have a catch can kinda thing for this that it will just go right inside and could fuck things up possibly. Would love to know your thoughts/experience with it thus far. Thanks for the dope content! I've been binge watching your vids since recently finding your channel. Great content, cheers!
@ignitionoffroad5028
@ignitionoffroad5028 2 года назад
Yeah so the Mitsubishi NK Pajero (Montero in US) snorkel seems to be the best fit for most of the older subies. The head of the snorkel is actually designed to expel water when driving in rain and has drainage vents on the side of the head and I still have the factory airbox as well so no issues with water getting into the engine. Diff breathers and the ECU relocation are the two other great mods if your vehicle will be entering water.

@pineapplejonny5655 5 лет назад
He's right cuz me and my friend float thru Hawaii's super soft sand with our stock foresters on street tires where you'd expect only lifted/built 4wd's can go... There is times we'd get stuck but that's what you'd expect with no lift nor all terrain tires. The best part is the reactions of all these guys with they're lifted trucks/suv's seeing a bone stock Subaru on street tires jus float past them on the sand especially the guys with they're Toyotas (4runners mainly). Oh and did I also mention that my Forester is a basic X model.

I used 76mm flex pipe, the same size intercooler pipe, and silicon connector to make it work. I think the airbox design is different on your model from memory but a similar concept should work

@ignitionoffroad5028
@ignitionoffroad5028 6 лет назад
James Longstaff I spent about $4000 I think so far, a large chunk of that being wheels and suspension. Custom wheels with mud tires was about $2000, completely new suspension and lift kit was about $1500. Snorkel and diff breather cost about $150 and then there’s other parts like rallyarmor mud flaps and exhaust that I spent a few hundred on.
