I know this was a year ago but I'm just seeing this now, I am Irish and I can have alot of pride and sometimes close-mindedness when Irish history is used in modern culture. But this intro was amazing, I am so excited to see a revival of lost history instead of a rewrite. Such a beautiful and pure way to start the video and so empassioning to hear a non-Irish person have the love of history that is so lacking in alot of modern culture.
Thank you so much! I think that it is really important to as much as possible start from a place of historical foundation when using older systems. Can we bring them into modern contexts and give them life in the world we live in, 100% yes, but if we can use what we do know historically it will be the way into finding the power of years after years after years of energy into a symbol and make for a powerful experience!
If you end up publishing your own deck, please let us know! Your artwork is so beautiful. I definitely prefer decks that show the full tree and not just a branch or leaf.
I was lucky enough that the english oak in our park dropped a branch during a storm, I felt it was a blessing as i find it fitting that I am able to craft my ogham with the wood from the king of the forest the oak himself. I love the ogham they are truly incredible.
You coded an ogham deck while you were playing old school text-based RPGs?!? You just got so much more badass in my head in the space of that sentence!
This is amazing! Thanks for reminding me to get into Oghams! I mean I have been into them from my earliest days because of my mom, but more intuitively.. haven’t studied this tradition.. I will also combine my own and info from other sources, just like you did (wow what neat research sheets! 😦) those sticks are amazing and I love your own woody deck, lovely! 💚 Blessings!
It's interesting that you point out how every author or teacher has a different take on what each Ogham means. I actually found more similarity between teachers than differences. Each just has a different tone. I love that the video helps more people find their way into Ogham study and use, though! It's such a beautiful and enlightening tool for folks. :)
Danni Lang There are definitely similarities but between the guidebooks I have there are definitely a lot of differences as well :) I do agree that it can be a difference in tone rather than meaning at times! I guess my point is that with all older systems we generally need to do a little work to see how we are going to approach it ourselves :)
I love your videos, amazing insight and you’ve often convinced me to buy decks 😂 on a side note I’ve been on a Warcraft kick for the past couple of days. This video happened to pop up while I’m working on WoW inspired tarot card and your quick mention of it makes me feel like I’m on the right track 👍
Such a beautiful video, thank you so much! These are speaking so deeply to me and I will get a set of oghams soon... I love your set and while I found some similar ones online, they don't quite compare! Do you have the link to the Etsy you mentioned where they sold this set of oghams? I would love to order the same. Thank you once again!
I love your video! And can relate to that fated feeling of finding a deck from a physical store, which was the case for me finding the Celtic Tree Oracle too. Also curious, do you use the alphabet or few itself in your readings or study the language aspect of it?
Hi Kelly. I have checked all your videos but can’t find your review on the Roots: An Othman Insight Deck. Did you do one yet? Thanks so much you lucky duck who has sooo many decks :) luv!
I bought the book By Oask Ash and Thorn Modern Celtic Shamanism by D.J. Conway...do you have any advice about this book? Any opinions that may be helpful? I just recieved it 2 days ago and before I dive into it I'd like to know as much as possible before I do when it comes to the Ogham teachings...I'm assuming right now that you've read this book or know if it and I apologize 🌿🌳🍃
