Oh boy... "Space Babies" Doctor Who S1E1 (S14E1) Reaction & Review 

I think the main reason they save the Bogeyman is because even though it looks scary, it is programmed to be scary, and not harmful to the babies, as shown the baby was not harmed in any way. Plus yes, the Bogeyman is the last of its kind, perhaps the first. A misunderstood creature. And, this episode's ending is similar to the Empty Child, where everyone lives. A good change of pace for Doctor Who.

I know a lot of people didn't like this one and thought it was too silly but I actually really enjoyed it. I think it was a good decision to start the season with something more lighthearted and campy and save the more dark and serious stuff for later on, especially since this might be some people's first exposure to Doctor Who and they might need to be slowly eased into the more complicated aspects of the show. Plus Ncuti and Millie are absolutely adorable together!

The Doctor trying to save the Bogeyman is not exactly out of character. We forget that the Doctor tried to save Davros after Davros had just tried to erase reality and kill trillions?

The zero mavity thing when the TARDIS took off was weird.

I’d say it’s similar to the beast below the creature is not evil its just existing it was made by the machine to be that way it was designed that way so idk not a strong episode I think it’s impossible to do well idk it had some good dialog but and sets up stuff but it could of been better

Great reaction! You never disappoint (unlike Russell T Davies...😅 and I'm only half joking!). IMO each Doctor has their own take on the Tardis explanation, their name origins etc. all the lore, they just pull it out of nowhere. Basically, anything goes!

I’m enjoying the season so far even with the eye rolling bits. In my opinion the Sarah Jane Adventures was worse since it targeted a younger audience. Yet it still managed to find the dramatic and poignant moments at times. Probably won’t rewatch it though. But I did enjoy it as well. I think the show is still good if I don’t take it too seriously.

The ending of Space Babies felt to me like a rather pale imitation of the ending of The Beast Below. Except that, in the Beast Below, it really packed a punch, whereas here it felt a bit weird and unjustified

Full ditto on "Love and Monsters" and the RTD era. No lie, even just the "next time" trailer for that episode was so bad it nearly made me go "you know, maybe Doctor Who just isn't for me" and give up on it... and I'm a chronically addicted Whovian now, so that takes quite a lot.

Really not a fan of this season so far, watched your reaction to see if it'd change my mind but was worse this time around! The only saving grace seems to be that the new doctor is charismatic, everything else is awful!

horrible start to a new season.

This episode was absolute crap in my opinion it's an episode written for 5 year olds i think RTD is just running out of ideas at this point i mean really Russell "farting spaceships" and "snot monsters" that's just juvenile writing and he's retreading old things he did in the past he's not adding anything new which is why the showrunner job should had been given to someone else and as for the whole "timeless child" plot he should had just ignored it as far as i'm concerned the Doctor is a Time Lord born on Gallifrey and The First Doctor is The First Doctor born in the form of William Hartnell there are no others that came before i also don't get how the Doctor can still call himself the last of the Time Lords since The Master is still on the loose trapped in the Toymaker's gold tooth. However that being said i agree that Ncuti's Doctor and his companion Ruby do have good chemistry but it would be nice to have a sci-fi story along the way with it Dr. Who is not a soap opera.
