I'm an a American of California decent who loves my neighbors to the north. This rendition of "Oh Canada" sung by a child of Canada in a slow, beautiful, melodic ballad style is the most beautiful that I have ever heard...every note and every word is so delicately enunciated to allow the listener to experience the emotions of a child who loves her country and is seeking to share that beautiful experience with the world..."Oh Canada" I love thee....
I'm a proud Canadian and from the first notes of this version in 2010, I sat up and stared at the tv screen, wondering who had the guts to present it this way.. I knew of young Nikki Yanofsky and her fabulous voice, but did not expect her to deliver our national anthem with such passion and beauty. The next day I heard of how so many Canadians were upset that it wasn't sung the way we've heard it in hockey arenas and football stadiums for all of my 60+ years. I could not understand how so many idiots thought there was only one way to perform the Anthem and that they thought it was a sacrilege to do it as a moving ballad instead of the martial football stadium style. I loved Nikki's version and have always wondered why no other singer ever did it her way since. Guess nobody has had enough nerve because of the flack she and her arrangers got when she was the first and only singer to have the intestinal fortitude to try something new and Beautiful. Way to go Nikki Yanofsky.. Oh Canada !!

What a risk you took at the opening ceremonies. So glad you did. This is honestly the first time in my 45 years that I've heard it sung differently. EXCELLENT NIKKI. Don't stop taking those risks.................oh to be young again............
Absolutely Brilliant!! To those knocking this rendition I say to you....NO, this is NOT the everyday run-of-the-mill version of our national anthem, but rather it's a LOVE SONG to the nation. It's sung with passion, pride, and sentiment. It's a true gift! It brings tears to my eyes and I will always play this when I need to be reminded of how lucky I am to be living in the best country in the world. This makes me damn proud to be a Canadian! Nikki has seriously one of the best voices I have ever heard! I'm from Finland and I still remember watching the olympics and hearing her sing this, I have continued listening to this 'cause her voice is absolutely amazing!!! goose bumps every time!

A salute from an American to our northern Canadian brothers. This was a beautiful, moving, if highly stylized rendition of Oh, Canada at the Olympics opening ceremonies. It reminds me of our American anthem with its emphasis on freedom. Never give up your individual freedoms easily; never sell your individual freedoms cheaply. America and Canada FOREVER!
This performance is stunning!!! The best rendition of OH Canada I have ever heard...and I have playd and watched a lot of hockey since the late 60s....Nikki is incredible and I cant wait to see the video on You tube which will actually show the performance.

I don`t know why there is so much heat on this version. IMO, its the best rendition of O Canada I`ve heard and I`ve heard alot. Doesn`t everyone remember the Acapella one with a Jamaican twist everyone before class started. That was so different yet unique. Yanofsky did a really good job

Wow...I didn't know she was only 16 years old! This girl is frikin' talented, and I DO like the rendition. It's sung with passion, it's close to the authentic melody, and it goes out with a bang.

To our Canadian friends, I comprehend your disappointment. I've listened on youtube to Nikki Yanofsky's highly stylized rendition of OH, CANADA, and the traditionally-sung anthem. Let me say that both are strong and emotionally moving. Please understand that your Olympic Committee did this for the benefit of the 2 billion plus international community watching your Olympic Opening Ceremonies. Few non-Canadians knew or remembered what your anthem usually sounds like. It was still beautiful.

The best version of the anthem that ever been done. Many times in the history we got different versions of it (so it has been rewriten several times...hello !!!!) But this time, somebody did a great job on the arrangements and most of the people especially the musicians that heard it at the opening ceremonies are amazed by it.
God Bless you all to the north...You are presenting a magnificient Olympics to the world...Be proud!!! GO CANADA! We in California are cheering the maple flag gold, silver, or bronze....

I've lived in Vancouver for about 7 years as a permanent resident from the US. Right now, I'm applying for citizenship and am just waiting for the date to take the test. I count myself to be lucky enough to be able to say that Canada is my home. It's where the best of my life began. I am a proud American, but also an equally proud Canadian.

I'm an American and loved this song, the way it was sung and the instrumental aspect of it. That girl can sing. Pure, rich tone and yeah, maybe it wasn't sung like the other normal boring versions of it but man give credit where credit is due. This girl can sing, it's a beautiful national anthem and Canadian's should be proud (except for those closing ceremonies). Peace out - good games BC.
This was --by FAR --the best version of OH Canada ever!! I have heard--Oh Canada sung endless times since the 1960s......and this one ...by Nikki Yanoksy..is by FAR....the BEST....those who dont like it--are You tube cowards.
Maybe it's because i'm not from Canada, but i absolutely loved her performance! I had to rewind it and watch it again because her voice is beautiful. I would think you would be very proud of her.
and actually our anthem hs been changed throughout history, maybe not drastically, but there have still been changes. She made our anthem incredible. I want to listen to this version, and I be a proud Canadian every single day that started with this anthem.
Canada is a changing modern country that accepts all religions and cultures!!!!! As a Canadian born son of an immigrant i find that this country is awesome and for people who say immigrants are taking all of the jobs its cause we work harder, generally.

First of all the anthem was sung beautiful. Second, it was nice to see an artistic twist put on the song. Third - this anthem has been around a long time. For those agnostics and atheists out there....just shut your mouth when the word God comes, and any other words you disagree with. As a 100% loyal Canadian, I'll be singing all the words. The song is about Canada and its tradition, not about YOUR beliefs.
Wonderful job on this version of anthem - sounds better each time I listen. Congratulations to all those involved - Nikki and the people who did the orchestra arrangement. And thanks to all those people (mostly outside Canada) who appreciate this version! I'm trying to buy this as a single on iTunes, but can only get it as part of an album, which I may yet buy - just for this. I had never heard of Nikki before this, but now I'm a fan and will be buying all her music.
I missed this in the ceremony. The way alot of people bashed it, I had to come listen. I dont think its bad at all! A little different, but the song was arranged this way. I think she did a great job

that is the exact same thing that happened to my canadian school we used to sing the lords prayer and god save the queen but we dont anymore because of that were lucky we get to sing o canada :( .....
