No matter how many times I have seen Chopper’s backstory I always become an emotional wreck and bawl my eyes out. The ocean is a salty place, but so is the puddle I have created.
Theres over 1100 chapters in One Piece so far.... and Dr. Hiriluk still to this day is one of the most impressive men not only in character but in theology. He had the best intentions and only wanted to heal the hearts of an entire country. He also knew that if he succeeded he could die happily because he had left his mark in the hearts of others to carry on that same theology. PS: Its also one of the most remembered and highly quoted phrases in the fandom as well. "A man dies when he is forgotten". Insanely powerful words. Leave your mark on the world and the people in it and your will can live on.
A perfect example is HP Lovecraft and Nikolai Tesla Both when they are alive are being ignored and not treated like famous person today, however their impact and work still remembered till this day!
@@hantumann4r449 Well... ehm... about Lovecraft... Not really sure i would include him in this. Not for his works, those are incredible, but as a person.
@@thanossnap4170 He's always having nightmares if I remember. If you mentioning of him being racist or supporting something about that yeah I know, but again his life point of view is very nihilism if I understood
Actually I think that would make Lovecraft very qualified for this comparison to Hiruluk since the latter did experiment on and torture people without their consent. In the manga he actually shot someone so… hey, nobody’s perfect?
@@HaohmaruHLAlthough the second option sounds more likely, it seems unlikely that she would like and recognize this character if she hadn't watched a few episodes of One Piece
@@TheDragon2000s She has watched it. She stated Robin is her favourite character as well. As for how much she's watched/read who knows, but it's clear she knows it
@@HaohmaruHL I think I remember seeing somewhere that it's her kids that like One Piece and introduced her to the character but that she isn't that familiar with the work herself.
"When do you think people die? When they are shot through the heart by the bullet of a pistol? No. When they are ravaged by an incurable disease? No. When they drink a soup made from a poisonous mushroom!? No! It’s when… they are forgotten." One of the hardest-hitting lines in the series.
Namis back story also had me emotional but this is when I definitely knew this wasn’t just some silly pirate show and I was gonna be crying regularly for these characters in this beautifully crafted world🥹… I love reliving these episodes with you guys, thank you so much for loving one piece as well!!!🤍
FUN FACT: "The Mushroom that can cure anything" is actually Mushroom shaped Devil Fruit called *The Human-Human-Fruit* which chopper ate as a young reindeer.
I mean who doesn't love Chopper he's the Cutest Doctor Reindeer in One Piece 🥰 Funfact: Chopper voiced by Ikue Otani also voiced Pikachu from Pokémon and Dr. Kureha voiced by Masako Nozawa also voiced Son Goku from Dragon Ball. The 2 Biggest Shows and Mostly Known Anime Around the World ❤
Doctorine - Super skilled but cold hearted Hr Hiruluk - Worst skills ever but the biggest heart Chopper - Inherits the best of both, Hiruluk's heart and Doctorine's skills
I would say the dichotomy is "jaded" vs "ambitious" Kureha has the skill to change the world but doesn't really want to. Hiriluk wants to change the world but it takes him 30 years just to invent colored dye. This isn't a spoiler, they're way ahead on patreon
@@gjermundnorumbugge7373 There also could be a deeper meaning of that like Chopper is afraid of people but deep in his heart he want others to acknowledge him by subconsciously exposing himself.
While the joke is fun, this is probably the best executed flashback in the entire series for me. Not that the others aren't great, we just had one in the manga that's starting in the anime which is amazing, and so many others, but this one hits the best imo.
"When do you think people die? When they are shot in the heart by the bullet of a pistol? No. When they are ravaged by an incurable disease? No. When they drink a soup made from a poisonous mushroom? No! It's when they are forgotten." -Dr. Hiluluk
Propabily it's just a coincidence, but (i don't want to make SPOILER... ...a very famous pirate and an important Wano warrior are perfect example of what th doc has said)
0:18 She means chopper hide in the wrong way. He was supposed to hide his body and only peek his eyes to see, but Chopper covered his eyes while revealing his whole body.
That scene of Luffy and Sanji slowly waking up and talking about cooking and eating Chopper is straight out of a horror movie lmao and then Kureha throwing weapons and a chicken at those 2😂
I am in 40, i am following one piece since i was in early 30, now i have 2 childrens and still crying watching chopper back story. One piece will always arguably have best story in the world not just in anime or cartoon wise, but also as a media in general, but unfortunately cartoon or anime is not for everyone i hope live action can bring all these beautiful stories to wider audience. thanks for your reaction i do really enjoy it.
OMG Almost 100k subscribers, congrats in advance girls !!! Also the words "There is no disease in this world that can't be cured" actually inspired my brother to become a doctor and he is now one of germany's best oncologist surgeon ! that's why i love one piece so much, this manga/anime inspired so many REAL people to do so many things in the REAL world having an impact on REAL lives... Its just amazing and to me it is way more than a fiction of art, its just life told in a different way and i love it.
crazy how these backstories get sadder and sadder everytime, luffys mentor lost an arm, zoros rival lost her life, usopps dad left and his mother dies, sanjis mentor lost a leg and they starve, namis mother dies and her village gets taken over by fishmen, and now we have chopper, hated by his own kind, hated by humans, accidentally poisons his already sick mentor before he sacrifices himself in an attempt to save the country. one piece is so much fun
Welcome to the parts of one piece where the true potential of what one piece is is slowly becoming more and more apparent. Chopper's backstory is just the beginning. It just gets deeper and deeper in every way as arcs go by. 😊 Best part of one piece are 1. main crew, their bond, their selflessness for eachother, Luffy's EQ, determination and loyalty 2. One of the best beloved side characters who come from time to time like Dr. Hirluk, Gen-san, Bellemere-san etc (so far) 3. Great backstories of strawhats and characters in it 4. Breadcrumbs of hints, foreshadowings, details that gets one of the satisfying payoffs at various levels as more and more is revealed 5. Underlying Themes in different arcs (which become more and more apparent in larger arcs) Eg: Orange town - treasure, Baratie - dream vs sacrifice, Arlong park - trust (leaning on one's friends), Logue town - determination (beginning and ending), Reverse mountain - purpose in life, Little Garden - honor and rivalry, Drum island - fitting-in/sense of belonging. 6. Overarching themes plot lines, overarching lore (which are always present but will become more apparent later) 7. The mystery, history and lore (which you'll start to notice slowly after 200-250 episodes) 8. Creativity, designs, humor, abilities, fights
So well put and without spoiling anything by giving references to only those things that have already been covered. I hope more people read your comment, i learned a lot even though I'm all caught up with the manga and am aware of some of the big theories
@@asadyousafzai937 appreciate the reply. Feels nice to share thoughts on one piece and know a different aspect of it whenever we discuss about it with someone new, as one piece is for everyone and everyone will find something unique in one piece based on their perception and Experience... And one piece has way too many layers which get more tangled, layers and dense but cohesive throughout... Recontexualizing everything we know till that point with each reveal, and that's very rewarding. And yes, like you said, it's actually really difficult to speak about one piece without spoiling atleast till before yonko saga (keeping it vague). Anyway great to talk to you, How far are you caught up? Are you up-to-date with ch 1116?
Yeah, crying over Chopper's backstory is definitely a shared experience that almost the entire fandom has done. Even now I still can't help tearing up whenever I watch it. This was definitely a set of episodes most of us were waiting for you to get to and bawl over, just like the rest of us. ... and this isn't even the saddest backstory, though certainly one of the more memorable ones. After all, when does someone truly die?
YESSS I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU TWO TO MEET OUR FAVORITE BABY REINDEER SINCE YOU STARTED WATCHING!!! also his little footstep noises are the cutest thing ever 🥹🥰
I love how Eichira Oda takes on all the northern european myths and other logos: -A witch that is curing but only for a price -Santa (Kuleha with her reindeers) and Dr. Hiriluk appearing in the chimney -Chopper being Rudolf but with a blue nose -Kuleha being the rational medic and Hiriluk the spiritual healer
Since the moment I saw you both get emotional over Shanks farewell I couldn't help but ask myself how would you react to this backstory. At that moment it was nothing but wishful thinking, but now... Thank you so much for embarking in this journey hahaha Amor desde Colombia 😁🦌🦌🦌
Sheeesh alguien de Colombia que le gusta a One Piece. En mi dos años en colombia, solo conozco uno que ha gustado ese anime. Casi todo solo veían Super. Yohohohoho
I love this, but watching me made me afraid, usually people with this little censoring on their video COULD get struck down by copyright struck and have their channel really in big danger by Toei, I recommend putting a semi-transparent filter over the non subtitled parts, even if just like 5-10% to prevent copyright detectors - I just recommend it because I don't want these videos to get taken down (and the longer you go without, the riskier it is for them to audit)
Mind you there will be a lot more nudity in the show, but this time its purposeful, Hiruluk shows Chopper that he was defenseless, like he's not trying to hurt him
For those who didn't get why Hiluluk got naked before Chopper first time, he was basically showing the literal way of "bare himself" or "be a open book". He wanted to prove himself harmless and just another animal Chopper could trust. This was his way of showing vulnerability and being as open with him he can. He just wanted to look non threatening. That was his best way Also, the "backwards" Nami talked about on first view of Chopper was how he was trying to hide. He always mess that up and do exactly opposite. It is kind of a running gag
FUN FACT: The VA of Chopper is also the VA of Pikachu! That's why it's sooo cute. Anyways, When guys laugh, it made me laugh as well. ! you guys are so genuine!
Chopper gets cuter with each episode in the series, partly because he shares the same voice actor as Pikachu. "Thanks to Ikue Ōtani san, she works hard for that voice."
I always love your point of view. you said about how chopper resemble all east blue crew member, and I never heard about that but when i rethink it again it make a lot sense, what a great reaction channel!!!
