But the one that hits me hardest happened when he sang this in 2017 during the Chinese competition “I am a singer.” His professionalism is so great that he had to get shots in his throat to have a voice long enough to sign this. Han Hong called and spoke to him about him singing her song. I cried then and still do every time I listen to him sing Daybreak.

“Daybreak” - At his first concert in Bastau: This song tells the sad story of a Chinese boy (Quon Yan), who along with his family, suffered a cable car accident in Xingyi city in Guizhou province, where many people died, but the boy's parents held him up with their hands and he survived, though the parents died. The song was written and composed by the boy's adoptive mother (Han Hong) and Dimash sang the song for the first time in Mandarin on “The Singer 2017”, but he had a sore throat and sang through injections. The doctor said that if he sang high notes, he would never sing again... He sang! Then he made this wonderful version, already cured, at his show in Bastau!

Hi! Dimash sang this song first in "The Singer", a Chinese tv show. That performance is very special because he was ill, no voice at all the day before the perfornance. He said he was very nervous but when he began to sing his voice was there, although he was in pain all song. And after finishing it, his voice dissapeared again. It is not so epic like this one, but I think it is even more emotional because the pain and the fragility was there in the maximum: his own pain and the boy's too. People cried in the audience! You can find the entire Dimash's part at this episode in Dimash Fanclub Germany, named Singer 2017 E08 - Daybreak - Full Version with English subtitles (10 minutes long). It really worth watching it even if you decide not to react to it. And one detail that makes Dimash so special as a person: although he definitely was in pain and worried about his performance, the first thing he said arriving to the set of the show were kind words of encouragement to the other contestant that was in danger of leaving the show... I was bawling watching the recording of what he did before and after the performance and Dimash actually spoke to Han Hong to get the feel for the story... He is a master of delivering emotions. I cry every single time I watch this performance (and many more) and it doesn't matter that I've watched it thousand times. It's his voice and his face what is telling the story 💔 He became the little boy and was living all the story for real because that's Dimash. He makes so many master tricks but none of them for pride, he doesn't want to make people adore him for that. He said he wanted the people not to pay so much attention to his technics. That it's just his tool and he uses it for the telling a story. I continue to watch your reactions because I really do love how much you appreciate Dimash's talent. Yes, pausing for copyright is necessary for reaction channel pausing as often as you do is not necessary for copyright and you have begun to pause more and more often as you do more and more reactions. You coming to you weren't sure how you were going to make it through the song. I would suggest you can make it through because there's no way you can get truly emotionally invested in a song when you pause it as often as you do because you take yourself out of the song every time you pause.

I agree with you. As much as I've genuinely appreciated all of Karl's analyses of Dimash up to now, I wasn't able to make it through this one. Pausing every 20 seconds utterly destroyed the trajectory of this song and performance. I've read his explanation for this new, most unwelcome, policy. If that's the future going forward, I will regretfully have to pass.

I went to your playlist and did not see how you reacted to this song when Dimash performed it on Singer 2017. Perhaps I overlooked it. In any case, when he sang this on that show he was quite ill. They had to take him to the hospital the day of the performance to get injections in his throat because he had lost his voice. On Gloria Wu's channel, she does the backstory and shows Dimash's trip to the hospital. The doctor said he is his idol. Even though he was sick, he still gave a wonderful performance.
