Has your check engine light ever gone on? There are some known issues with the Dodge Grand Caravan that are small, but they will trigger your system lights.
I used a scanner courtesy of Auto Zone to get a diagnosis.

You did everything the right way Amanda. In 2009, I paid 130 dollars for a diagnostic scan tool at Auto Zone, and what a life-saver it has been. My check-engine light has come on several times since, and I have more than recouped the 130 dollars I spent by doing the repairs myself. My scan tool has an erase button that allows me to turn off a check-engine light when it comes on and it erases the code from the computer. This way I can tell whether the light coming on is an anomaly or a real problem. Your understanding of cars and mechanical issues is on par or greater than most guys. So I have no doubt you'll figure out the solution. The only advice I would give is to purchase a scan tool. You can use your tax refund check at the end of the year so it won't eat into your savings. Other than that, you're going about this whole thing methodically which is smarter than taking it to a mechanic. By the way, on a side note, I like how you did up your hair.

That's not a good sign you're already have a cylinder misfire with less than 60K miles on it. Spark plugs and ignition coils should not be failing this soon. If the cylinder misfire code keeps occurring after replacing Spark plugs and/or the ignition coils, expect it to become a reoccurring issue and consider selling it. These newer Dodges aren't very reliable compared to vans of same age from different brands.

Mine came on after a rain storm and I drove over a pretty deep puddle and than a truck drove pass me drenching my entire car. Next day light came on.

I bought my 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT in April and everything was great. I had someone with me and they said it was great. I took it to get it aligned and now I need new brakes, rotors, struts, and rear shocks. I want to be able to hit the road next year and not worry too much. I'm beginning to wonder if I should have bought a Toyota.

I have a 2014 Town & Country that had 85,000 miles when.........in June, the engine light went on. I took it to the Chrysler dealer & something in the engine was firing wrong (?); it took three days & $3100 to fix that. Six days later & engine light went on & this time something in the top portion of the engine went out. This took three days to fix & the service manager only charged me $166 for the parts (at cost) because I just paid $3100 for engine work. Three weeks later the engine light went on & this time the entire transmission had to be replaced. This took seventeen days & $5100 to fix. There were no loaner cars & renting a car was next to impossible in this state; I was stuck with no vehicle. I have "never" ever had this issue with any of the Chevrolets & Toyotas that I have owned over the years with over 200,000 miles on a couple of them. I hope your van does not end up needing major work; I will be paying for this for a couple years. Good ole credit cards. 👍👍👍

Actually, if you're familiar with OBD, and you sound like you are, it's a good idea to carry a basic little scan tool in your van. I like the ThinkOBD 100. And I have a 2006 Grand Caravan with 300,000 miles on it, and it's been a great little van. Gonna drive it until the wheels fall off. But they're known for having glitchy electrical systems.

Yes! Auto zone is very helpful to do the check engine light. I learned if your "check engine" light flashes--DO NOT DRIVE!! Can cause worse damage to whatever is wrong. Also if you have to take your vehicle in for repairs--take your print out so you aren't charged for another scan.

Yo, you are one savvy lady! That's exactly what I was going to suggest. Since you were getting intermittent misfire on 4, that's what I would do too clean everything up. Make all the wiring "sanitary". Then check your fuel filter especially if it is fuel injected. If problem persists replace all your plugs and wires!. I am impressed! You got it going girl.

Thanks for sharing, and sorry you are having issues :( Like you my old one a 2007 had gas cap issues, and finally quit after 2 gas caps. My 2013 so far is OK, but sad to hear newer ones are worse, not better. I did have plugs replaced in 2007 as it was 97k miles on it, and paid about $120 or so. Back bank is hard to reach, I am short, and without real toolset. All the BEST to you, and safe travels! Cheers :)

I haven’t had this yet on my 2016 but have on my old Isuzu (that I traded in just in time for my DGC 😳). Hopefully it’s something simple like the spark plugs or what an old fashioned tuneup could cure!

Hope the dealership gets it fixed if cleaning it up doesn’t work. Surprised there’s not a recall for the known issue. Is the van still under warranty?
