I just discovered Sturgill in 2023😢. I was living in China since 2010 so a bit out of the loop. I’m now listening to this song n repeat (as well as his whole Metamodern album). He’s a revelation, a gift.
This is where you separate the adults from the kids. The true artist from the autotune, acoustic version with performer and guitar. His two Charlie Rose performances of all around you and this one are flawless. This is what you call top level talent.
Being a live TV recording, there would still be an engineer, and it’s entirely possible there is still pitch correction. Not saying he needs it, but it might just be part of the engineers production.
Doesn't matter. Engineer, or not. This guy is the real deal. I know there are effects with the vocals. I definitely here some echo. So this gives it away. But still. Without great performers like Sturgill. There would be no Charlie Rose as we know it today. Nor any need for audio engineers. This is a guy alone with his guitar. Give the man some credit, where it's due. Geez man.
Just lost my best friend and I would have never heard this song had he not sent it to me 2 years ago. My name is Sarah as well. I’ll forever miss him so badly. ❤
No idea how many times I’ve revisited this. You know playing solo to basically no audience it would be understandable to “go through the motions”. Damn son!😳 Bring it!
Damn...amazing!! It blows my mind how there are songs like this that never get any radio air time. I am so thankful I live in the time that I do so I can find music like this.
Oh Sarah, here we go again I can't get past the pain of what I want to say to you I'm too old now to learn how to let you in So I'll run away just like I always do She said if there's something I should know then tell me now Before I go and give my heart away So I can get on with my life You can go on with your strife Wish you'd speak the words those eyes are trying to say Sometimes this life feels like a big old dream I'm floating around on a cloud inside When my cloud starts coming apart at the seams Oh Sarah, that's when I slide There's going to be times that I gotta go away But don't worry baby I'll come home Out on the road is where I'm going to find my way But I'll always find the time when I'm alone So forgive me if sometimes I seem a little crazy But god damn, sometimes crazy is how I feel And my brain is starting to swirl Down the drain of this old world And there's only one thing girl I know is real It's the love that I feel in your arms It's the glow you wear around you like a charm It's the tender in your eyes That keeps me safe and warm at night From this life Oh oh Sometimes this life feels like a big old dream I'm floating around on a cloud inside When my cloud starts coming apart at the seams Oh Sarah, that's when I slide
Best song ever written..and this is the best version of it.. absolutely hands down , my favorite of billions of songs. "so forgive me if sometimes i seem a little crazy, but God damn,..sometimes crazy is how i feel."
I saw Simpson on Rose's show today. Love the raspy, rich quality of his voice. Now that Dylan has broken ground in Sweden, who knows who could be next for the Nobel Prize -- maybe a few years down the road!
My goodness, this is out of this world - an entire story set into a 3 minute song. The feel and emotion he drives into this in the live version is unmatched! Love this part: And there's only one thing girl I know is real It's the love that I feel in your arms It's the glow you wear around you like a charm It's the tender in your eyes That keeps me safe and warm at night From this life
@@michaeldlindeman9600 I hated SOUND and FURY. It was as though it was a complete 'F.U' to everyone and everything. If you need therapy, see a therapist, but don't single handedly put all your issues into an album purely intended to alienate everyone. But then again, maybe he needed to go there, to realise he wants back in. All I know is he has an incredible album, all he needs is a guitar, his legendary voice, and he will have the best album.
@@jaymaxx3910 nah. I love all of sturgills stuff and sound and fury is great. Sturgill Is not the second coming of waylon, and to his own admission is not even strictly a country artist. You'd better get used to being let down, because the dude doesn't make the same record twice anyway. Anyway, learn to like more than one genre of music! There's lots of great country, but rock is good too and S&F is a great rock album. Tracks like "ronin" and "all said and done" could easily be on Dark Side of the Moon.
The most beautiful and real song I've ever heard in 42 years. I've gone through alot of "Sarah's", but not one I would say these words to yet. Just haven't found her...yet. Still time
Such a gifted artist, saw him on tonight show then on Charlie Rose. I was impressed bought and listened to his album sailors guide to earth, still impressed. great music that transcends any genre.
So forgive me if sometimes I seem a little crazy!!! But Goddamn!! Sometimes sometimes crazy is how I feel💪💪💪🤯🤯🤯 hell yea. I love sturgill. This is the first time I've heard this song. I'll be playing it all night now
Wait....75 people gave this a thumbs down? They must be in a dark sad place. Because this is an absolute masterpiece of a track. Like many others of Mr. Simpson’s.
OMG! wow this song is beautiful, i bet sarah comes to tears each time she listens! sturgill you are amazing and next to every good man is a Sarah! Beautiful.
Baddest man in all of music. Not country (which he is. and is a damn good send) but any genre. Who the fuck is Sturgill Simpson? This crazy ass talented guy right here!
Thought he might fade somewhat with Atlantic, ( steal his real so to speak ). But this felt performance renewed my faith that Sturgill is still there . PHENOMENAL !!!!!!!!
I hope they play "Just Let Go" when I head to the Bardo. Sturgill keep writing...don't go to Hollywood. Your on the path that's meant for you....and you help thousands of people...one day your words will help millions+++.
The real thing people . Don't happen to often these days . We are lucky it came around in our lifetime . All good. Thanks Sturgill for something real .
Wish Sturgill could get the chance to play the Super Bowl. More of this world needs his music. Been my favorite artist for years, country, bluegrass, don't matter. SS is a fkn force
I am not sure why country music has not clamored to honor this guy, who for me is the hoped-for preservation of country music without the pendantic repetition of music from a bygone era. In other words, he re-creates a new country, if you will, that is as good and better even than the past so-called glory years. I hear a little George Jones here, a little of Waylon, some Merle Haggard, and a few long-forgotten country voices. You can be sure I will listen to this guys whenever he makes records.
crazy thing is. if he spends more than ten minutes on a song he throws it away. between him and Jason Isbell it's a toss up for pure lyrical talent in this day.
Jody Highroller My opinion, Jason lyrically, but Band an emotionally Sturgill. Elephant might be one of the best songs ever written. Both of my top 2. Thank you for knowing music and keep pushing friends, family, and people that like music their way. The will only love you but respect you for giving them sight into REAL music. Bless you!
Sturgill wins this every day for me. And not only songwriting, but also the musicianship of his band. There is nobody on Sturgill's level in music today. Probably hasn't been ever to be honest.
Sarah Larson sorry for your loss. Sturgill helped me through hard times also. His other Charlie Rose video of the song All Around You is a masterpiece also.
