An acquaintance pointed me here many months ago and I resisted, god knows why, I guess the modern day malaise of feeling like I’m overwhelmed by all the podcasts I “must follow!” but a few weeks ago, while chair-bound and enduring a chronic illness flare, I binged a few videos and now here you are, an indelible facet of my online experience. I potter around the house and find myself singing “Justin Hawkins rides againnn… againnnnnn.” And I’m all the better for it. ❤

Walking down memory lane......I actually saw David Draimon for the first time standing by Mudvaynes Amplifiers on stage 2 of Ozzfest. He was singing along, without a Mike watching. I am so fortunate. You see, I was standing up against 5he barricade, which is where I enevatbly end up at every show. There couldn't have been more than 50 people watching, as Mudvayne hadn't hit it big yet. About a year later I took my daughters down to Big Dudes instrument's in Westport Missouri to meet Disturbeds Drummer who signed a poster and pair of drumsticks for them. He was very gracious and kind. The epitome of how a human should treat another.

I'm always 'ears perked' when Justin goes into explaining anything music related or how the body works to create sounds, for example. Also, his tone & control are Amazing. Always leaving me with things to think about. I was honestly more interested in all of that than the song itself. He's just Brilliant! Any humour thrown in is a bonus. Nice to see Ann still has such a strong voice. Taking good care with that.

I found Dirt through Ren as well when he asked us to check him out and support him. Love his music, and his support for his fans trying to kick their habits and get sober is amazing. His online (RU-vid) community is so supportive of other people's struggles in the comments, it's nice and refreshing to see and read.

Nice piece of reviewing fella. I'm ambivalent about Disturbed, Anne Wilson was such a treat, great singer, should have roped in Nancy, her scattergun call and response style would have taken the song to another level. Anyhow this response is not about my dubious opinions but to say you're doing a well good job, I'm subscribed and I do enjoy.

I remember that tour, I went to the Manchester date (I think!) and you guys didn't deserve the reception you had. Unfortunately, the metal "scene" around that time was full of chest beating masculinity and I think you guys made some of the crowd question themselves! I also remember Draiman going off on quite a racist rant (using terms such as "sandy n*****s" ) which turned a few people off too. Anyway, happy you managed to make a friend out of a shitty situation!

Never got into Disturbed but this song had popped onto my feed earlier in the week and they had me at Ann Wilson; my inner eight year old never quite gave up that MTV crush. The opening is reminiscent of Manson's cover of Sweet Dreams but is overall more of an emotional heavy hitter. I also just thought Draiman can probably pull off a Mean Rick Astley karaoke - His timbre and vocalization are remarkably similar.

I never made the connection between David's vocals and Rick Astley (I only know of two RA songs) but now that you mention it you're totally right. I bet he could sound just like Rick.
