I've been a fan since 1983 or so when their first EP came out. When Operation Mindcrime came out, my mind was BLOWN. You must check out the whole album. It's a great story.
@@joel.6359 LIVE crime is a crime, it sucks. The sound engineers screwed it up. Stick with the studio version to start with and AFTER that, THEN check out LIVE Crime if you want but you have been warned...
Take hold of the flame, live in Tokyo should be your next Queensryche song. Anyone here who had seen it would tell you the same thing. The vocals are stunning.
Geoff Tate’s vocals are stunning and particularly featured in their hit, Silent Lucidity. His ability to rock hard yet deliver a ballad with a tender tone is outstanding.
At would be a perfect follow up to this one actually showing the extremes of Geoff's range. From hard hitting to very nearly etheric. "Silent Lucidity" ftw!
Operation Mindcrime is my favorite concept album ever. A great story and not for the weak. Along with Maiden and Priest another duel guitar band with equal talent across the whole band. They have this entire concert available and you can react to them live if it doesn’t get shut down by RU-vid. The question is who killed Mary… you will have listen to the whole album to understand the depth of the story.
You’ve got to check out their live performance of “Take Hold of the Flame” (live in Tokyo), it’s a very popular video for reactors…Geoff Tate’s vocals are off the charts amazing in it
Good one y’all. This one will make you think twice about falling for the wrong person at the wrong time!!! The whole album “Operation: Mindcrime” is a masterpiece….🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽💔💔💔💔💔❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
You mean her falling for him? Because he falls in love with Mary and then possibly strangles her at the order of the cult leaders. They don't make it clear who strangled her with her rosary, but it's very clear that she didn't hurt him. You sure you listened to that album? I'm thinking you only listened to this one song. LMAO
@@melissas4874 yes….her falling for him ended up a disaster no matter how u slice it….I’ve listened to this song since it came out in the late 80’zzzz….been a fan since “The Warning”..you sound like a super fan too 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
I'm shocked that this is only your second reaction to Queensryche! You really need to check out their early hit, 'Take Hold Of The Flame', which is a BANGER! Their ballad, 'Silent Lucidity' is a must also!
Silent Lucidity is a great great song, my introduction to Queensryche as a 10 year old...I dont listen to it as much now..their catalogue is too strong.
That solo section where they both play their parts and then harmonize is one of the most memorable metal moments of all times. Queensryche are progressive metal masters
Like Judas Priest with bad ass dual guitars, there is another layer of musicality bands like this bring to listeners. I'm not even going to get into what Scott and Eddie bring in with the drums and bass, which are 2 extremely phenomenal musicians in their own right.
Queensrÿche has so many hits. “The Lady Wore Black”, “Another Rainy Night”, “Revolution Calling”, and “Eyes of a Stranger”. But IMO their opus is “Roads to Madness”. Geoff Tate is one of the best metal singers ever and Scott Rockenfeld is one kickass drummer.
FINALLYYYY! I think I’ve been mentioning “Silent Lucidity” in these comments for at least a year. Wrong song, but at least you guys got back to some Queensryche! Any of their music with Geoff Tate as lead singer and Chris DeGarmo on lead guitar (because they aren’t on the newer tracks) is a win.
Ok. Now you have to do Take Hold of the Flame (Live in Tokyo 1984), Silent Lucidity, Operation Mindcrime, Jet City Woman, Della Brown, Suite Sister Mary, Walk in the Shadows, The Killing Words, The Lady Wore Black, soooo many good ones. 😆🤘💕 Please don’t wait another year. 😂
So happy you guys got back to them! As parents you should check out Silent Lucidity. Another banger is their 1984 live version of Take Hold of the Flame [Queensryche - Live in Tokyo 1984/08/05]
One of my favorite bands. Since you have young kids I recommend Silent Lucidity written guitarist Chris DeGarmo. You will love it since you like Pink Floyd so much.
Geoff Tate is a phenomenal singer with a four octave range. I highly recommend checking out their early songs especially "Take Hold of the Flame" from 1984 and "Queen of the Reich" from 1985. Operation MindCrime is a great concept album. It's one of my favorites!
I know you guys don't really do this kind of thing, but watch the entire album in its entirety. I have a playlist of all of the music videos filled in with concert footage for the tracks that didn't have videos. It's an incredible story, and I fell in love with it the first time I heard it! Their next album, "Empire" doesn't have a bad track on it, either. You need to pay attention to the footage in the videos, as well as the lyrics, so you'll likely have to listen to Mindcrime more than once to absorb it all. Note: I don't have any of those videos on my channel, just the playlist I assembled from other sources. But here it is... ru-vid.com/group/PLs_5xG067eNZvfisy5-p-eVh2E7Ihs3E6
I have loved this band since 1984. Their original line-up of band members were like a well oiled machine pumping out fantastic music one after another. Their catalog goes from hard to ballads to emotional. They got pretty soft during the 1990-2010s, but the band regrouped in 2013 and went back to their original style-mix and their new albums are worth a listen. I recently saw them open for Judas Priest in an arena and then they headlined a small rock club in NYC to promote their new album. The song that always blows people away with Geoff's voice is - Take Hold Of The Flame (Live In Tokyo)
There are tons of great Queensryche songs, one of the singer(Geoff Tate) best live performances was in Japan back in 1984. His vocal range is really showcased in Take Hold Of The Flame, Live in Tokyo 1984. React to that version.
Great reaction! Sadly, Queensryche is often overlooked and underrated. I would recommend checking out "Another Rainy Night", "Jet City Woman", or the whole Operation: Mindcrime album. If you really want to be impressed with how incredible this band was live, check out "Take Hold of the Flame - Live in Tokyo 1984" or MTV's Unplugged 1991/92.
Great song and band, Queensryche is one of the best bands of the 80s and the original lineup was dope right from the start with the original EP, do Queen of the Reich and the Lady Wore Black from it, incredible bangers right away. The are a great band to look at, series of classic hard rock/metal/prog records of musical magnificence, Operation Mindcrime is one of the best concept albums ever! Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶
The entire Operation:Mindcrime album is awesome. A concept album, each song telling part of the story. Try also from this record: Revolution Calling and The Mission.
If you like Nightwish Then do Versailles Revenant Choir live They are Melodic Symphonic Power Metal and the best Visual Kei band. Amber will love the costumes and hair and show
I am a Very Very Big Fan Of Queensryche, Love it, Early and did I mention?, Love it. BTW, You have to listen to the whole album and then you will get this song, (Album is Operation Mindcrime),,, I listen to the whole album all the time.
Finally you guys are playing Queensryche! Silent Lucidity not what you expect. You might get emotional. Take hold of the flame 🔥 Geoff voice incredible ❤
Geoff Tates voice does really stands out. You can recognize his voice out of a crowd and know it is Geoff Tate. He is a really great singer. Love his work.
Yes, you need to do the entire catalog. "Queen of the Ryche" was my introduction. It sounded like Iron Maiden. "The Lady Wore Black" showed they had something more to offer. "Take Hold Of The Flame" showed off the singer's incredible talent. The Empire album was just loaded with bangers. "Empire" , "Jet City Woman", "Another Rainy Night", "Silent Lucidity" and "Della Brown". The whole thing was incredible. Please do more. (And also some early Maiden with the original singer).
This band is amazing. And they were one of the first to do digital recording & mixing in the studio, hence the clarity and occasional ear-splitting tones. To truly appreciate them, I recommend "Someone Else? (With Full Band)". That song will haunt you for years in such a great way. Other suggestions for reactions: "Screaming in Digital", "The Lady Wore Black", "Take Hold", "Jet City Woman", "Empire", and of course, the whole Operation: Mindcrime album.
One of my bands that helped me on them bad days in jr high please do one love this band songs u need to check out ! Empire, operation mindcrime. Take hold the flame , best I can, eyes of a stranger . Jet city woman , another rainy night , silent lucidity
There is a video called "Operation Livecrime" where they perform this entire concept album live. Definitely worth your time even if you choose to watch outside your channels. This song takes place in the latter third of the work after he's been arrested and is being accused of the nun's murder (among others) and he's telling himself that what he felt for her was not real. It's a dark and compelling story.
@@toddrodenkirch1909 I saw them the next show in Milwaukee then again Green Bay. Had heard rumors the shows might get recorded but was too late for posterity.
One of THE best bands to come out of the 80's. Their debut album the Warning is one of THE best metal debut albums period. They are what you would call prog metal. Geoff Tate is one of THE best rock vocalist ever.
This is a good one, but if you want to see the true range of this band you have to also do Silent Lucidity one of the greatest power ballads of all time
Finally!!! As Jay said “How did we get away from these guys???” I’ve been wondering myself. 🤷🏻♂️🤣 But better late than never 🕰️, right? 😁 I Don’t Believe In Love is my fave song from my fave prog-rock (progressive rock) band. Queensryche is awesome! As you both picked up on everyone in the band is phenomenal. Some other great tunes to check out: Walk In The Shadows The Lady Wore Black Take Hold Of The Flame 🔥🔥🔥 - This one is their most popular song others have reacted to! Damaged I Dream In Infra Red You really can’t go wrong with any Queensryche song 🎵 🎵🎸🎶 Can’t wait to see what you do next. Thanks for what you do! I needed this one today! 👊👍🙏
For not knowing the context of the song, you both did very well with the reaction. Even if you do it on your own time, I beg you to please listen to the entire album (in order). It's a fascinating story that won't disappoint. Just a tip, pull up the lyrics so you won't miss anything.
Queensryche was remarkable. Their concept albums, Geoff Tate's voice, the musical talent... make them one of the greats. On the softer side, they have one very special song in particular, called Silent Lucidity.
THANK YOU for doing more Queensryche! Loved your reaction, and happy you enjoyed it. Take note, that Queensryche is in the subgenre of Progressive Metal: meaning deeper lyrics, concept album and more sophisticated instrumentation. BTW, my 1st concert was Kiss in February 1985 and Queensryche opened the show, so Queensryche is technically the first band I ever saw live.
LOVE QUEENSRYCHE! Lots of songs to choose from.......MUST DO "TAKE HOLD OF THE FLAME" !!!! "Revolution Calling" "Operation Mindcrime" "The Needle Lies" "Empire" "Jet City Woman" "Best I Can" "Thin Line"
Breaking the Silence Suite Sister Mary Spreading the disease And for his 3 octave vocal talents: Take Hold of the Flame That was written for the olympics!! Any song of Operation Mindcrime And a great ballad is Silent Lucidity 🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤
I saw them opening for Metallica in '88. They were touring behind this album. They were amazing. Do yourselves a favor: set aside an hour and listen to Operation: Mindcrime straight through. Epic storytelling, fantastic music.
So happy you made it back to Queensryche. You have got to check out their live performance of Take Hold of the Flame. One of the best live performances ever IMO Take Hold of the Flame [Queensrÿche - Live in Tokyo 1984/08/05]
Great selection! Geoff Tate has such a great voice specifically suited for this type of music. The Empire album was their best next to Operation Mindcrime
The next time you travel down 80's hard metal road, please go back to Black Sabbath and have a listen to the man who took over vocals after Ozzy Osbourne was fired from the band, Mr. Ronnie James Dio. Check out Heaven and Hell...Neon Knights, or my personal favourite Children Of The Sea. Peace and love to all!! ❤️🙏😎🇨🇦
I think you’re both ready for Queensryche. You’ve gone through Crue and Priest and Def Leppard and Pantera and a little Metallica and you’ve earned Queensryche. Next song needs to be “Take Hold of the Flame” live in Tokyo, it’s a reaction channel staple. At some point “Silent Lucidity” is a must. If you want more off Mind Crime I’d say “Revolution Calling” and “Speak” are good stand alone songs. There’s a lot to this band. “Empire”, “Last time in Paris”, “Jet City Woman”, “The Lady Wore Black” and that’s just off the top of my head.
Take! Hold! (As if so many people haven't mentioned that already lol). I also agree that this whole album is a must. Brilliant! The album Empire is my personal favorite though, especially "Another Rainy Night" and "Anybody Listening". Geoff Tate is my favorite vocalist and has been for 36 years.
Yes! Glad you guys made your way back to them. Saw Mindcrime in its entirety on the Empire tour. Incredible! "Operation:Mindcrime", "The Mission" or "Breaking the Silence" should be next as the storyline will come more into focus. Thank you!
Two words - 'Silent Lucidity'. Briliant! One of the best metal ballads ever. Two other of my favourites would be 'Jet City Women' and 'Another rainy Night (Without You)'. They were often too heavy for my taste but the album Empire for me is a classic.
If you want more rockin' with Queensrÿche, "Revolution Calling" is them with their "arena anthem" dial turned ALL the way up to 11 and will give you a lot of Queensrÿche bang for your buck. If you want to slow it down with Queensrÿche, their biggest hit, "Silent Lucidity," is lush and beautiful and not your typical metal band power ballad. Also, it's about a cool topic I believe Amber has expressed interest in.
Time for more Queensryche! They have lots of really good songs! Still at it as well, though they've divided into two groups who went their own ways...Check out a great song that is way underrated, AND it was performed live on MTV. The Killing Words, live...ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oWxODyN26Lw.htmlfeature=shared
Idk which band did it first. I'm getting Def Leppard rocket vibes everytime I watch Queensryche I don't believe in love. Both videos and songs released the same year 1987.
Queensryche was a great band! I haven't been as inspired by their newer stuff, but in the 80s and 90s they were On Point!! You should check out songs: I AM I, Gonna Get Close To You, Jet City Woman, Anybody Listening?, Best I Can, Walk in the Shadows, and there is a really cool live acoustic song called I Will Remember too! Go deep dive!! Also, I know you both love Rock, you NEED to listen to The Darkness! They started in the 2000s but their sound is like AC/DC & Queen had a baby, just check out Love Is Only A Feeling and you'll be hooked.
