Man worked on oil burners right out of high school! 1983 ! For about 10 years ! Boy things have changed ! I know Beckett burners where the best ! Never saw those tiger loops ! Anyway liked cleaning and servicing them * but you dont get the smell out of your clothes !
Nobody is trying to stick it to Steve , he's a great repairman and an example of how to do things right . Just a difference of opinion is all , nothing wrong with that 👍
Great job Steve, all of the equipment looked pretty new, Why argue with people that are never happy, when it comes to proper servicing equipment, those people just love to complain about other people, Good to see Miss Molly working again.
@ Joshua Conway Congratulations! Keep watching all of Steve’s videos you’ll learn a lot. I love his technique with what he does & explaining in details. Best wishes! Martinsburg, WV 🇺🇸
Takin Miss Molly out and working on a Holiday. (Complicated). Well Steven, It's me again. I was able to build a nice "vent/chimney" for my new Bedures four part boiler. (Hole in the concrete foundation etc. )Took some engineering to get it in place there in August. Cleaning up a work area and getting the chimney all set in September. Heating with wood now in October, (my bad). I'm finally breaking down the old Smith Boiler. Good news is that all the overhead sending assembly will be just re-attached but the receiving manifold is a mess. Breaking that apart I have one more one inch brass valve to rescue then mostly new pipe from Supply House. One of the pumps is so bad I think a used one was installed 30 years ago. I'm trying to rescue two of them. I just wanted to let you know that I could not do any of this without your posts. Thank you so much Steven !
If your gana clean the boiler then you should always brush and vac first then vac the chamber so the fallen dust doesnt collect on the nozzle aseembly and head that you cleaned. I hope you put your hand down the blast tube to check internally for carbon build up on the interior side of the endcone or head. There is a small hole for the after drip for the nozzle at the bottom. That is why oil burners need to have a tilt into the chamber. Im a Massachusetts licensed oil burner technician and i approve my statements.
I installed the same exact heat pump water heater about 5 years ago. Mine is noticeable quieter as compared to that unit. Could be the video microphone. Need to clean the screen filter yearly due to basement dust. My condensate drains to a drain pipe. No bucket collection. Dehumidifies the basement nicely.
You're great Steve I appreciate you posting your videos but I'll be honest i watch for miss molly!! Lost my dog recently and it was unexpected and it destroyed me.. God bless you and her and please treasure her you never know when your last moments are.. What I would give for 5 more minutes with him
*Ya, heat pump assisted water heater. Great idea. Take the heat from you house and help heat the water so you heating system can work more to heat the air for the water heater. Brilliant!!!* 🙂
You tell em Steve, I had a guy ask me to service his car, sure I said bit he wanted heaps of things changed out. Apart from a oil change and the usual nothing else needed to be changed I said why waste your money. Money doesn't grow on tree 😉
cold exterior chimney with a cold start boiler has no draft this time of year.take's a few minutes to get a draft going.people use there heat at night and heat isnt needed all day.everything gets cold and the draft stops.found triple pass boilers can get a little bit of a bang to them too on first start.been installing [when nessasary] primary control's with longer pre and post purge time's.almost no soot build up.
Good stuff!! Im not a plumber or hvac tech.. I enjoy your vids!! Can you talk about that little handheld draft checking tool you often use? It looks cool and old-school. Good stuff!! Enjoy your workin man cooking vids too!!! Yum!🇺🇸
I just bought that draft checker, its over $400. Basically its a pressure gauge that is measuring a draft or negative pressure vs the room. The unit is inches of water column. 28" equals 1 psi.
@@TheBigbass13 $400? That's like double what they normally sell for. I don't remember what I paid for mine but it was less than a hundred five years ago.
Joe homeowner special written all over that water heater dripping condensate into a bucket. .. looks like ol joe gave a shot at boiler repair and failed 😂
The issue with Columbus revolves historically around "The Doctrine of Discovery" But ask most people on the street and they don't have a clue what that is.. What is it ? one might be surprised. .
@theshemullet it's a fine line when trying to get more efficiency with nozzle size/ pattern, you might get a better calculated efficiency but actually lower the efficiency of the unit overall
You changed the nozzle from hollow to solid ! Why? Change the pattern and changes draft over fire! What was the manufacture call for, didn’t see you check that. Unless you have to you don’t go off of what manufacturers recommend. Without doing a diagnosis you dove in and started taking apart things. How did it start on your arrival? Did it delay? Was it getting oil to nozzle? You said in your travel to the house that you check for good oil flo, but saw nothing.. Only thing I agreed on was that with a new tank installed that a new nozzle AND FILTER not that you replaced that even though you did the nozzle should have been a beginning place, With the nozzle should have been the filter.
Ken, peerless calls for solid nozzles in that particular boiler. Personally, I use hollow nozzles in them because they run quieter but that's just my opinion. As long as you set up the flame using your test kit, you'll be fine with either spray patterns.
