I have used that Zrod and it worked well, once I get my next V8 I am building with a flat tappet cam together it will be broken in on Valvoline VR1 convetional and after the break in period it will see Z rod once a year. Most of my fleet of vehicles do not see enough miles to get more than one oil change a year and I have been running mobile 1 full synthetic high mileage in them with good results. I was skeptical of full synthic oil about 10-15 years ago before seeing cold weather and hot temp flow testing comparisons. Just the fact that synthetics hold up better to breaking down just from sitting is a huge selling point for me. Not sure I trust the computer oil change recommendations on my wife's 05 malibu 3.5v6, it has almost 5k miles all highway on the current oil change and the car says it has 51% oil life left, I am running synthetic in it, but I will likely only let it get to 6k.
