Oil Pan Baffle - TracTuff’s solution to oil cavitation
By Brian Gillespie
Knock knock?
Who's there?
Rod.
Rod who?
Rod knock, you're done.
Protect your K20A race engine. If you don’t do this, you are just asking for trouble. We’re going to share a valuable lesson we have learned the hard way when it comes to racing a K-series powered car. With the stock oiling system you are at risk of starving your engine of oil on long right-hand sweeping corners and ending your day in a bad joke.
The common solution is to over fill your engine a quart of oil, but as you get faster you use stickier tires creating higher G’s, even this won’t help. The better solution is to use an oil pan baffle. There are plenty of people making oil pan baffles for the aluminum pans, but what about steel? Here is one solution from a company called Trac Tuff. You can find them at tractuff.com if you want to do your own research. We take a look at how the TracTuff oil pan baffle works to keep the oil where your engine needs it.

Fyi, b20 oil pans have *ZERO* baffling. Buy an integra pan and slap it on, all b-series interchange pans ifaik. Cheap insurance for your CRV or B20 swap.

Thank you! Was at Cayuga without a baffle and knew something wasn’t right when taking hard right turn when my vtec was spuddering. I knew I need a baffle

Thanks for putting this info out there. Great tip for someone like me who will be taking 8th gen civic k20z3 to track days.

Tractuff is one of the few (maybe only?) companies that make a baffle for the K20Z3’s stock balance shaft oil pump too. So you dont have to do the Type S oil pump swap if you dont want to

Everyone with a b20b/z bottom end: Yout oil pan has NO baffle. Get an integra LS pan which has a so/so one. Maybe weld one in. IIRC vtec pans need the pickup, but clear girdles. You're welcome.

I got the blox baffles for k20 in my k24 with steelpan. Had to bend one edge to get it to fit.

EFn ITR said it in these comments a year ago, but some more detail. Unit2Fab based out of Ontario Canada makes baffled oil pans out K24 steel pans. (Also aluminum pans if that's what your after)

Does anyone know of an oil pan baffle for GE8 Fit/L15A???

Excellent design! I'm stealing this design and fabricating it into my 74 V8 sump pan! Embarrassing little tikes in their hot hatches is amusing, but slamming on the brakes and then seeing the oil pressure gauge drop and the waning light come on for a split second when you stop is not amusing at all!

Wow! This is crazy because I drive a stock Ep3 and I noticed when I take a tight right hand turn like you said, the motor almost seizes because of that very reason. I always wondered why this happened!

If you do much spirited driving on the street, you may be able to add some extra oil to correct that. Although you may experience lower fuel economy.
@DizzyEnano

YESSSSS. MORE PRELUDE CONTENT PLEASE. Quick question though. Why this type of oil pan over a Moroso? Does it have to do with ground clearance? They are roughly the same price if you buy them both new.
@aw614
@aw614 3 года назад
it could also be a requirement for any race classes that could have rules that require a stock pan, but weld-in baffles are the only legal option. Not sure of any rulesets, but I've seen some weird rules out there...

Hello supermax here. I just want to ask about a crankshaft for 1992 civic Ex. Mind chip where you put the fully go and the luck key would not fit any more or hold. Question is can I use any 1992-2000 civic crankshaft?
@BrianGillespie_brianathasport
@BrianGillespie_brianathasport 3 года назад
Yes if you use 1.5 for 1.5 liter and 1.6 for 1.6 liter engines. You can compare all the part numbers on the crank shafts on websites like hondapartsnow.com. There may be some interchangeable parts from the 96 up Civics.
