This process is essentially a trace technique, yet it has value in helping people understand marks and surface texture without worrying about proportion. The video is essentially designed as part of a print project but it works as a standalone task.
As a singular task by drawing over marks and seeing how they translate you can explore and experiment and reflect on your discovery. Within the context of a print project, if this is done at an early stage, you can use your knowledge and findings to design the image and inform the marks you might scratch or cut into a print plate.
