Oil Sending Unit Bad leak Fix. Trailblazer.

Dude your a life saver mines been leaking bad and I got under it saw it was the oil pressure switch. I’m not really good with car stuff but you made this simple by showing where you put your hand through! 🤘

Thanks for putting this video up Nathan! It is a pain to get to but not too bad if you have the ramps and the proper deep socket or you could just do what I did...it was super easy I dropped it off at my mechanics shop to do it!! LOL Just picked it up now have fresh oil, filter and oil sending unit. This fixed the low oil pressure warning when car is at idle plus the warning to shut off engine. We also ran an engine flush just in case. An hour driving on it after repair and voila oil gauge steady. I'm in SoCal. Keep up the good job on the videos, and even though I didn't work on it(this time) I do know where my engine oil filter is so please ignore Mr. Geiser who needs a snickers! Made me laugh!

Hello from Denver Colorado! The video was very helpful and it looks like a really easy fix. My trailblazer just started last week after the engine is fully warm I'll come to a stop and the oil pressure light comes on and the gauge drops from 40 to 0 and will fluctuate back and forth. But as long as i keep the idle up it'll stay at 40 lol. Plus I have noticed a lot of fresh oil underneath so yeah, I'm certain it's the same problem as you had. Thanks again.

Nathan, thanks great video and follow your instruction. The point is that after replace the sensor, problem still exist. I change the oil, no engine noise when the pressure is low at itle only, the oil level is normal, what could be?

Will a 27 mm ratchet wrench fit in the small space

My car all of a sudden 03 trailblazer ext 4.2l started with the low oil pressure stop engine deal a week or two after an oil change, hopefully this works.

I know the video is published in 2019 but according to what the oil looks like you need an oil change 3,000 miles before you did this video but on the other hand thanks for the information and are 2005 inline 6 started doing this the other night and it scared the crap out of my wife

What about the tiny screen that is inside the sensor housing? GM says to replace it whenever you change the sensor?

I just replaced this sensor this morning on the wife's '06 Trailblazer with the 4.2 I6 engine. It's been leaking for a couple for weeks and showing low pressure on the "gauge", which in actuality is nothing more than a glorified idiot light. It doesn't actually show pressure. It's an on-off switch.When it's on the gauge reads 40 or so, when it's off it reads 0. False advertising on GM's part. Anyway, I did this as part of an oil change. Once the filter is off it's easy to get to the sensor from underneath. I used a 1-1/16" deep socket and a flex head 1/2" drive ratchet. A fixed head ratchet hit the frame and wouldn't allow the socket to turn. A stubby ratchet would probably work, too. It's not too bad a job, really. The ratchet is needed just to break it loose and to snug it up again, the rest you can do by hand.

Hello I have a 05 envoy xl my oil gauge is all the way at 80 when the engine is running. when it’s off it sits at 40 should I change the pressure sensor for it? I recently replaced the vvt solenoid for a p00014 code

Is the sending unit located right below the dipstick? When i look from the top i see where oil has ran to the bottom of the car. Haven't had a look under my car yet but just want an idea when I do.

Question, when that sensor is leaking would it cause it to get oil all over the steering fluid pan & surroundings? Because I’m not sure if that’s the part I’m looking for or if it’s my oil pan. I haven’t actually crawled under and inspected but from above I see no cracks however it leaks in my driveway a lot, oil pressure doesn’t seem to change on the gauge, and there’s oil in upper areas

When that oil started flowing out I was like when was the last time he changed the oil. Starts vehicle change engine oil soon warning in cluster. I refuse to wait for that to come on. Every 3k it is changed, afterwards before starting vehicle always reset the oil monitoring system by turning key to run do not start press accelerator pedal 3 times to floor within 5 sec. to reset system.

Will this make the oil run along under the whole vehicle? I woke up and there is oil everywhere under my car. Running down the body frames. Its everywhere. My wheels are flinging it. I'm going to take it to a car wash and then get under the car and try to pinpoint it out. Its so hard to tell with the oil literally on everything.

I just started my 2007 Chevy trailblazer this morning and immediately oil came spilling out the bottom of the engine lost almost 6 quarts is the oil sending unit the cause?

Just got an oil change last week on my 03, now it keeps telling me low oil pressure stop engine. There is enough oil, sensor does have a leak. Don't drive it?

Kinda sounds like you got a slight vacuum leak somewhere.
