The TSN Panel breaks down the Edmonton Oilers 3-2 win against the Vancouver Canucks in Game 7 of the second round of the playoffs. The Oilers will face the Starts in the Western Conference Finals beginning on Thursday.
Oilers won the game with defense surprisingly, blocked so many shots and poke checks on Canucks. That's how they need to play against Dallas with defense, Skinner doesn't need to do that much work.
To those who are disliking oilers fans for "gloating" let me educate you a little. after game one we had lots of canuck fans ringing up the local radio stations saying how much of a dump Edmonton is, what a joke our club is and how McDavid and Drai will leave... Unfortunately those things plus the "F*CK EDMONTON" chants before the series began being tele-casted on TV really showed the class of the Vancouver fans, in some ways I guess your fan base deserve it. That said great season for you guys, glad to see you guys make a step forward and look forward to the rematch!
The Dallas Stars are the second most often played playoff opponent vs the Edmonton Oilers other than the Los Angeles Kings. The 2 teams last met in the playoffs back in 2003 when the Stars won in 6 games so some revenge seeking will be in order for the Oil! Let’s Go Oilers 🏒💥!!!
Hey panel, I love Jamie Benn’s antics too! Always makes me chuckle. He had me laughing so hard when he cross checked Mark Stone’s neck in the playoffs last year! Hilarious! How it helped his team… priceless… the best Captains lead by example.
TSN is sooooooo much better than ESPN. ESPN does not have a clue about hockey or how to report on it. Embarrassing actually. I watch the games with the volume off and never watch the intermissions.
While I'm happy with the result, have to give huge props to the Canucks. There is no quit in that line up. Also, if Tocchet doesn't get the Adams Trophy, it's an absolute travesty.
I’m a Toronto fan can’t lie I was leaning towards Vancouver to advance solely because they have great weed , but now I’m hoping Edmonton brings the cup back to Canada I’m sick of Americans always winning lol
Miller knows that an apology text to the coach won't cut it this time. Rumour has it that he had chosen seppuku but was stopped by Canucks PR on the grounds of cultural appropriation.
@red3here if I can't manifest my own belief in my team then I don't deserve to root for them. It's all in good fun, I'm just hoping for a great series and a game 7 series is exactly that
Oilers I think are the better team no matter what Vancouver did Edmonton fought to almost catch Vancouver and a lot of games oilers have a better chance going forward just because of experience there a complete team when on nobody can beat them
Series shouldn't have gone more than 5/6 games. Skinner offsets Boeser. Silovs was amazing. This was Canucks all year. Maybe score a goal, get outplayed and outshot, then try to make a comeback if down.
Good work, James ! Introduce the panel and shut the hell up afterward . Edmonton got by an over performancing Canucks when it mattered . Dallas to me is the real test for Edmonton. Dallas has more depth on the player chart and a much better goalie . I don't see Edmonton winning this series . I'm not saying they can't, I just see Dallas as a much deeper team .
They have to get rid of players and we will be stronger next year they gained experience and they will be a better team asdemko and Silvia’s each have 40 games each
There's no comparing Vancouver with Toronto in this. Vancouver was far better than Toronto, and the results of each team's season proves it. Vancouver played their hearts out and made this a tough series. Plus, they proved everyone wrong. Not only did they make the playoffs, they went to game 7 of the 2nd round. That's far above and beyond everyone's expectations. Great job Vancouver, from an Oilers fan.
So you are saying the canucts need more Canadian players to win?. You are so right, Canada invented the beautiful game, and if I had my way, only Canadians will be playing for the Canadian NHL franchises. No Amercan franchise will ever win a Stanley cup again.
@@palyg6922 And they have the most players in the league, so that math works out. Don't get me wrong, I think Canadians are good to have on a hockey team, but it's just weird to insinuate that the Canucks lost because they didn't have them more of them. When we had more Canadians, we were a worse team. Maybe it actually matters WHO your players are, not where they're from.
What I see from the remaining hockey teams is under performing, disorganized what is organized? Planning and talking about plans. or poor communication at times, high talent level with horrible leadership from captains on ice. Yes, hockey is draining and exhausting that is why you must out think your opponent. Gretzky has said go where you think the puck is going that is much better than being tardy for goals. A lot of folks are thinking that Canada needs a Lord Stanley? Think of time as taking first things first. Why lose when you have leads thinking too far ahead? Not communicating with your teammates and poor film studying. Oh, don't forget overcoming fatigue who wants the win most? If your thinking ahead on offense and taking out the threat on defense you will win most of the time. Position yourselves to win. Film study will show you what your opponent tends to do and that is your keys to the house. Coaches are not on the ice and the feel for the game lies in the heart of the lion! You are the lion!! Time to eat! While waiting to come in for shift make mental notes of what the previous line has done well and what they did was not working. Speak words of wisdom and encouragement. Hello leadership you are the victor all glory goes to your teammates! Each hockey rink has its flaws one think for coaches identity those areas and use it to your advantage and your opponents disadvantage. Study study study and work work work and win win win relentlessly
Not really. I am seeing FAR more posts predicting the Oilers are going to be swept by Dallas. Funny thing is, most of those posts are by salty Canadian hockey fans. That's fine.
Ya not really sure where you're looking haha maybe just making up your own storyline but whatever works. I think everyone in Edmonton knows it's gonna be a grind. Dallas is a very deep team! Lots of respect for them
Canucks are the most jinxed team with injuries. And like the sabres they will never win a cup ..They quit in game 6..pathetic outing. The owners are a joke don't spend money on marquis forwards..the best forward theyve had in 30 years is marcus naslund.. messier didnt count.. its a loser franchise and loser city. Unfortunately canada will never win a stanley cup again. Welcome to the new nhl where american owners buy cups.
@red3here If Dallas underestimates Edmonton, Dallas will lose. Vise versa. Both teams are strong teams, but I still think Dallas has the edge. We'll see
@@red3hereAny NHL team can win a series. Worst odds are usually like 40%. On top of that, the Oilers are simply a good team. Aside from the ridiculously bad goaltending they had in the first 15 games of the season, they were generally better than Dallas looking at underlying numbers. Don't be surprised if the Oilers win, or at least push Dallas to the edge.
Idk why he wasn’t playing great. I don’t think it’s his stature, he dominated playoffs a couple years ago. Looks more like an injury/confidence issues…
I do think he needs to add some strength, but he was at least trying to throw some hits out there to make up for his scoring slump. I think it's mostly a psychological problem though. When Petey gets down on himself, his game really goes into a black hole.
@@Statsy10I am afraid that he may well be suffering from that dreadful malaise known as Marner Syndrome🙄! Typically, Marner Syndrome sufferers develop a range of symptoms that can be extremely debilitating and sickening (to fans of their teams🥴!). These include: the unexplained growth of a ridiculously large, lucrative AAV; acute loss of positional awareness and on-ice strength once the SC playoffs begin; hallucinations (that opponents' goals have literally shrunk down to a width of only three inches, that all areas along the boards and behind opponents' goals are filled with razor-teethed crocs, etc.😱), a suddenly weak heart; a tendency to mumble monosyllabic cliches and other nonsense in post-game interviews, etc. Yes, deeply serious stuff, indeed😣! Fortunately, judging from this patient's, er, I mean player's interview comments, here, the condition has not yet reached its' terminal stages. I say this as Mr. Stealthersson, umm, sorry, I mean Mr. Petersson, has not yet begun to believe that others view him as "a god"" amongst men, a comment typical of those who have sadly already reached the point of no return. While some specialists believe that with patient, slow rehabilitation -- and a possible personality transplant -- a full recovery may be possible in 1-2 more years, others, (possibly including two veteran medical practitioners in their respective fields, Dr.Tochet and Dr. Berube) are thought to be strong advocates of far more drastic treatment options such as: permanent relocation to a suitable new treatment and living locale such as the Dubass Center in Pittsburgh, or the newly opened and extremely well-funded (and currently nameless) Utah facility for the care and rehabilitation of stray and damaged creatures The latter facility, while not yet fully operational, has already begun some early work with a large scale intake of previously Arizona-based Coyotes, who were rescued after years of abuse (and false promises of kinder treatment) at the hands of their previous owners. Hopefully, with time and patience, Mr.Spectersson will be able to slowly recover his impressive form of years past. However, in the event that the more serious treatment options refered to earlier, sadly become unavoidable in this case, then it is acknowledged that drastic, pre-move surgery may be required first, quite possibly including the amputation and retention of a large amount of the patient's abnormally large contract. Should you need further medical advice regarding this matter, please contact your nearest TSN Advice Center, for the assistance you or your loved ones -- and Mr. Ghostersson -- need. Good luck next season, Canucks fans👍! Your team gave you a hell of a good effort, both during the regular season and in these playoffs at times. Be proud of them -- and this from a Red Wings fan!
