Those weren't just Oilers fans... Those were CANADA fans! It's been a long since the Great One left town and the Great White North has needed a Cup for at least a decade. Lord Stanley's Cup without Canada is just a frikkin' trophy. Much love to my Canada gooses from Washington State!
The Cup hasn't been home since the 1993 Montreal Canadiens, not a decade, 3 decades. That was the year Gary Buttman became commissioner. A coincidence? I think NOT. Let's go Oilers.
it's very good that even Calgary supports the Edmonton Oilers - it will be a huge celebration for Canada - the victory of the Canadian club, God how long ago it was...
I was 14 last time the Oilers won a cup and now my oldest son is 15. More than a generation in our case. It is definitely time to bring the cup back home on Monday.
Very heart warming to see this in Calgary. I hauled my kids to hockey camps in Calgary and Sylvan lake. Great times and memories. I've personally loved the Oilers since they came into the league. I'm pretty much an oddball as I'm American born, but have loved and appreciated the Canadian spirit when it comes to hockey. Best sport on the planet. Go get the cup Oliers!!!!!!!
As a Canucks fan who hates every other nhl team I am acctually cheering for Edmonton. Never thought it was possible but mcdavid in game 5 was legendary
Here in Toronto, there are Oilers watch parties in Richmond Hill (the birthplace of Connor McDavid) and the games are on in pretty much every sports pub in Toronto. I love the Oilers. Praying they bring Stanley back to Canada where he belongs! C’mon boys, let’s getter done!🇨🇦
Unless you’re a diehard Panthers fan living in Canada, every Canadian should be cheering for the Oilers. Even more so, if you’re a hockey fan; you should be cheering for the possibility of witnessing history in the making. If this plays out like so many of us believe it will, this is the kind of story they make movies about.
Oh good lord buddy calm down. You can't be excited that another Alberta, another Canadian team may bring home the Stanley cup. You're the problem, not the people chairing for the oilers.
@@LLandS18 respect to Leon and Connor, but it’s our “rival” and I’m loyal to my team so no hard feelings bud. Let’s break things down, your franchise got how many 1st overall picks? Signed how many bad contracts? And mismanaged how many assets? If it wasn’t a 2 player hockey team inflating everyone’s stats around them then I’d hop on the wagon of them deserving the title, but there’s only 2 guys on that team who truly deserve to have their names engraved on the cup.
@@LLandS18 p.s big dawg, if the roles were reversed you’d see only a handful of flames jerseys over in your land of oil rigs and not much else. Take a lappp
@@itszehbs2481 look buddy. I don't define my entire life by what sports team I root for. That is just part of my life, not my entire life. I have other things in my life. And if Calgary was in the playoffs against an American team, I guarantee you you would see just as much excitement from oiler fans. It's about the love of the game and the memories you had watching it playing it not about the loyalty to a billion dollar franchise. Who could give two s**** about you. Let me guess you have undying loyalty to one particular tech company. It's just ridiculous. Quite honestly your pretend made-up situation where it's the Calgary flames in the Stanley cup instead of the oilers kind of sounds like wish thinking not reality. You've made up a complet e situation in your head which doesn't even exist and you're mad about it. Just be excited that there's a chance the Stanley cup might come back to Canada. Just be excited that Florida, which is probably one of the crappiest states in the Union might lose the Stanley cup.
@@LLandS18 Hey man I’ll turn your long story short here since nobody’s got time to read all that. In life It’s okay for someone to have a different opinion! You sound like the kind of guy that enjoys bubble baths and scented candles.. do yourself a favor.. go turn on the water, light the wick, and save your words for a more important conversation! Once you’re snug in the tub just remember these two words “rent free”
@@tammywillerth6000 when Calgary made it to the Stanley cup final there were a lot of Edmonton cheering for them too. It is heartwarming to see that the Canadian bond can even overcome the rivalry of the battle of Alberta.
