In this video we share our experience Gateguarding for our second season. This time we did 2 gates in Texas and one in Louisiana. We worked for a total of about 12 weeks, earning enough money to travel for another 3 months.
If you are interested in this type of work , we recommend you visit the RU-vid channel of RV S.W.A.T . You can also contact J&G Security at

Thanks for posting this video. I plan on leaving my construction management job in 2 years and do some traveling. My wife can't work as she has balance and walking issues. I am looking in to gate gaurding but it looks like it requires two people or couples.

You're welcome. They do have some 12 hour gates. You can always call J&G Security and ask if they have, or can get a 12 hour gate for you

Do you have to stay at the standby gate and commute to the gate or can you just stay parked at the gate? Seems like a waste of time and money to commute a few hrs a day for such low hourly pay.

Depends on the gate. 12 hour gates you'll stay in an RV park nearby or the stand by lot of its close. 24 hour gates you stay on site with a utilities trailer for your generator, water, and sewage

An hour and a half commute each way? I wouldn't call that a nearby campground.

We were staying for free in the J&G stand by lot at that time. It was a short term 12 hour gate ( so 15 hours door to door) and we were getting paid a 24 hour gate rate, so it worked out okay. Not our first choice for work but it was money in the pocket while we waited on a better gig. Besides, we lived in Virginia for 14 years near DC, an hour and a half commute is nothing up there

My wife and I are thinking about doing this. We can’t get good information from the company unless we give them our information and they only want it within 30 days of getting the job. That makes it hard to plan anything. Are you sitting in a standby lot waiting for a gate and if you are, do you get paid while waiting for a gate?

We watched lots of RU-vid videos, then took the online training course and got our license. That's when we contacted them about working for them. As for the lot, we call them within a day or two of getting to their lot. Waiting at their lot is not paid but it's full hookups. We call them again when we arrive at their lot and they call us as soon as they have a gate available which can be anywhere in Texas. Paid hours start on the first day of actual work. Hello, I couldnt help but notice your shirt in the thumbnail. Are you Stanford alumni? I only ask because my daughter is a freshman there right now.

what is the pay like?
@flightofthecrowswing
@flightofthecrowswing Год назад
The last 3 jobs we did paid $206 per day. Usually they provide a full hookup trailer for you so the "campsite" is free. Some jobs pay $175 per day. That is pay for the couple for a 24 hour day.

@Flight of the CrowsWing oh wow. just for the couple not individual pay?
@flightofthecrowswing
@flightofthecrowswing Год назад
Yes. However, realistically we only actually work about 10 to 20 minutes total each hour. The rest of the hour we're reading, doing videos etc. The work itself is super easy and you're not spending money hardly at all. It gives us enough to pay our bills and continue traveling for the next three months or so.
