So Amazing to see Danny Elfman with Oingo Boingo perform live! I caught them in 1987 for the Dead Man's Party Tour. For some reason they played this same New York venue twice in 1985!
@@thespaceram2879 Dude, I think your God=Lord has better things to judge. He can start with his so-called "followers," who've spent the last 1800s years committing every atrocity imaginable in his name.
@@satyrosphilbrucato9140 Oh God=Lord Jesus Christ will judge everyone eventually at some point in the future. Everyone will be present. Even you as you will witness it like everyone. Matthew 25:31-46
@@thespaceram2879 I'm familiar with Matthew 25. More so, it seems, than most Christians are. And going by that passage, y'all have a literal hell of a lot more to fear from it than I do.
One of their best songs! They have inspired so much music around the world and in all genre's. One of the best Ska songs of all time. The energy of this song is legendary!
Saw them on this very tour in 85 outside Los Angeles at Magic Mountain. Second concert I ever went to with a bunch of friends from high school. Best experience ever and was every bit as fun as this video.
I was there too! Good ol Magic Mountain with friends seeing Oingo Boingo - HS class of '85 :) Then I saw them again a few years later after I moved to Portland, Oregon. Glad to have seen them twice and the energy was incredible both times. Thankful we have these videos! Amazing and beautiful musicians.
My mom licensed to them when she was the high-school back in the 80s. I'm only recently discovered them, they're so much better than the stuff that was popular when I was in high-school a few years ago lol
If I had a time machine I'd go back and attend this concert (and maybe try to get backstage to Danny) cause daaaaamn they were really on fire this night
No joke, I turned my phone over one way and the RU-vid app was bugging out and flashing the video from vertical to horizontal by its own in rythym of the song. It was so damn good I wish it would've let me screen capture the power from the energy of this performance.
I'm pretty sure it's an electric kick pad. It tripped me out too lol I was like "is his kick drum transparent, invisible, or am I just high?" Fun fact: one of those is true.
I know he name-dropped a handful of people, I could only make out "Kardashian" and "Logan Paul", and he changed the last verse to something like "finger on the trigger, you're on top of the world, you'll surely rule over them all!" I personally think doing such a thing dates the performance but I like that Danny tried to switch things up and adapt that song for the modern times I guess.
@@doc_jpeg Yeah that’s what W.S. Gilbert did with the lyrics for the song “Little List” in The Mikado, and the tradition is continued in modern performances (just pointing that out because Danny is a fan of Gilbert & Sullivan operettas, they hugely inspired his songs for Nightmare and Corpse Bride). I don’t know why I can’t find the new Coachella version of this song anywhere on RU-vid though. Did he hurt the feelings of a few trans kids with that line about wanting to be “androgynous”? Haha at least he still has a sense of humor about the whole political spectrum, that’s becoming rare nowadays. I recall him saying on Instagram that he used to be able to debate with Republicans and not view each other as mortal enemies.
They played New York in 1985 as far as I can find online, not 1987. The end of the video says 1985 so I'm going with that. I saw them in 1987 in California for the Dead Man's Party Tour!
The concert available shows 1985 at the very end. Also, none of the songs from the Boi-ngo album (1987) are included, so this would have been after Dead Man's Party was released (1985).
