Miigwech for the telling of our history, my great grandmother tells stories about the carrying out of the ongoing fight. She was from Sandy Lake, her name Beengway, interviewed in 1928 by Irving Hart, the story she tells is, Beengway a Chippewa Warrior’s daughter, retrievable through Minnesota Historical Society web page. Thank you for providing the missing pieces of the historical puzzle in the Beaver wars and the travels of LaVerendrye, in school we learned of the glory days of the French Regime but not about all the indigenous interaction in these matters. My family has lived in Quebec City and Montreal since 1662, important to know all this for better understanding.
I love learning about all other tribes. Books are great but nothing is better then hearing and seeing it. I can tell you really know your peoples history. You made then proud.

My 5th great grandfather was Chief Loons Foot. I believe his mother was captured by the Lacota and had a son with Chief Red Bonnet before she had my great grandfather. Fascinating! Thank you for keeping our heritage alive Brother 🙏

It’s hard to know exact numbers. It was equally devastating for both tribes. Most of the intense loss of life happened in the 1700s when there was little recorded or written about this.
Tahn-Si (Cree) Boozhoo (Ojibwe), I'm enrolled in the Rocky Boys "Indian" Reservation. I'm Ojibwe and my dad is the late Duncan Standing Rock Sr. the last full blooded (4/4th's) Ojibwe that was fluent in Ojibwe, Cree and English languages, living on the Rocky Boy reservation. My dad used to tell me of our ancestors trip westward from the eastern coast. He told me the history of Rocky Boy and his brothers and he himself was raised by his grandpa, one of "Rocky Boys" (real name Stone Child but was misinterpreted) brothers. I believe his name was Round Day, I'll have to look into that to make sure I'm not mistaken. I think they might've called him "Day Child", again, I might be mistaken. I have to watch the video my dad left me explaining all of this. I should know all of this by now. Anyway, thank you so much for your video. It helps refresh my memory and I need to go through the things my father left, his writings and teachings to remember where I come from. Some of our people are in Canada also. There's a Tribe living way up in the mountains. I can't remember the name of the place off the top of my head but my dad and one of my uncles made it up there a few years back i'll ask him the name of that place.

I'd love to know why the Iroquois decided to make war on the other nations. Like from what I know of a few cultures, fighting between different peoples didn't really resemble "warfare". The well-known story of the British and Naragansett and the Pequots being something I've heard a lot but used as an example for other indigenous groups as well. I'd assume since many societies were not based on economic exploitation and authoritarianism like Europe there weren't armies of warriors fighting for dominance on behalf of constantly competing nobility but disputes would be more of a personal nature. And considering the indigenous people didn't invent weapons approaching the specificity and complexity of Europeans or other "Old World" societies I'd assume any fighting was more personal cause you don't need siege weapons to go after other people. I'd love a source that covered these things explicitly and in depth.
Ojibwe won 1 battle against the Iroquois compared to a whole removal of Ojibwe tribes and in the they still had to move west of the Mississippi and then try to brag about it lol 😂 half the Ojibwe First Nations were whipped out the Iroquois are the winners of all tribes and the most powerfulest
