Spot on, Jade. Except for you finishing off by saying you shouldn’t criticise others for their taste in music, but that’s what you did at the beginning.😂 I must say, I do love all of your music, so far.😜

I loved this. There's been a slew of reactions to Rick's recent rant, and most of them suffer from the same lack of perspective that Rick displays in his own video, which you address beautifully. Total respect for Rick here too. I've learned a massive amount about music from Rick, and a massive amount from you Jade, about music and so many other things. I'm appalled when I look back a few years - my music IQ was about 50, although it's still not great. Back to the point, you hit the nail on the head about music on the billboard charts and music that is just as good, and arguably better which almost no one has heard. The charts are a mess, and they've always been a mess - a mixture of greatness combined with schlock and boring drivel, and everything in between. And there is an entire world of incredible musicians that walk among us, spinning filaments of gold into our culture and which prevent it from eating itself, but with names that never materialize in bright lights. Here's my own response to Rick or anyone who claims that music is getting worse. Go on the street and ask random people about the state of music. You're going to get a range of answers from "Music today is garbage" to "I don't really listen to current music" to "This is the most amazing time to listen to and create music ever!" and guess what - the responses are going to pretty much align with the age group. The young people will be quite positive, the middle aged will be a mixture, and the older people are going to be quite negative. You can take that to the bank. Go back 20 years - you will get the same answers from those groups. Go back 40 years, same. Guess what - music has changed, but human nature has not! I'm in the camp that says this is the most exciting time in music in my entire life, and I'm learning more every day. Thanks Jade!!

As a boomer older than Rick Beato, I’d like to throw in my 2 cents worth. Buying an album only because the album cover was cool-looking was a very rare thing, IMO, based on buying habits of my many music-loving friends as well as mine. I bought the grand total of 1 album based just on the cover (the first Uriah Heep album) and it turned out wonderfully well. 😊 And I’m still finding plenty of music that I really like. While rock music no longer rules the music business, there’s still excellent rock music to be found. And I like other genres too. I spend way too much time listening to music.😅
