"I can't survive without XP" is a perfect summary of how Undertale shook up the rpg landscape, flipping what would normally reward you to emotionally punish you, and what would normally make the game harder, to instead make it so much more emotionally satisfying.

I REALLY suggest doing the pacifist run before the genocide run, because: 1. You're currently missing huge, extremely crucial narrative details from the pacifist run. Without those, a lot of what happens in Genocide won't make sense. 2. Genocide is a SLOG. It's designed to emulate those classic mind-numbing RPG grinds, so you can't just kill every monster you meet, you have to keep running around every area until the random encounters stop. It's a whole meta-textual thing.

I think you can decide for yourself if you want to do a pacifist or genocide run. However, a pacifist run is required to understand the full story and complete lose ends. a genocide run is fully optional. Also a tip for the genocide run, You have to kill everything in every area before continuing, if you leave an area with some random monster still alive, the game will prevent you from commiting full genocide.

I'm glad you enjoyed the Neutral Route! -Wow, I've never seen someone dodge Flowey's opening cutscene on their first playthrough! You are way more cautious than most! -Toriel, (Goat Mom), is incredibly Hand-Hold-ey because she is a pun on the common trope of a Tutorial character, or Tu-Toriel. -You definitely aren't the first person to distrust Toriel after meeting flowey -Sans and Papyrus are named after the fonts they speak in! -The telescope that sans lets you look into is an ago-old prank of putting dye or paint around the lens, if you didn't get it. -Special Enemy Temmie is a unique encounter because there is a secret room nearby that leads you to Temmie Village, if you want to try and find it... -If you feel like Undyne is a loose end, you might want to visit her or Papyrus after the fight. They both have unique "Hang Out" scenes that you will definitely laugh at. And these events are required to finish a Pacifist route, if that helps. -Alphys seems to have her own issues with self-confidence that doesn't quite show until you learn more about her "scheme" to convince you to stay in the underground. When she fails, we don't hear from her again, and she stops posting on social media. There might be a bit more to her character that you can find in a Pacifist route... -The image of Papyrus wearing Biceps with sunglasses can actually be found as a Steam Trading card for the game! -Did you try talking to Sans in his waterfall station or outside of MTT Hotel? He looked like he had something to say... -You suspected that you can't die during the Flowey fight, but that's actually not true! You can die tons of times during the flowey fight, but he pulls some strings to make it seem worse than it really is. For starters, your health bar displays your HP as lower than it actually is. Bullet Patterns are larger than their hitboxes. And also, you can't actually die during transition phases, but you can still loose HP down to 1. Congrats on winning in 1 attempt! FINALLY: -The Neutral, Pacifist, and Genocide runs are designed with the hope that the player finds/plays them in that order. You can obviously play them in any order you want, but many jokes or impactful moments might go over your head without (or with) prior context. Just a fair warning. You'll love both routes for sure, and I want to see both of them from you!

A lot of your confusion over certain plot points (Undyne's disappearance, Alphys's unexplained motivations) are addressed in a pacifist run, which is half the reason the game does its best to encourage you in that direction, so yes! I'd love to see a follow-up! I can't stress enough though that you should try that playstyle BEFORE succumbing to the urge to grind to maximum level in the starting area. It'll make a difference.

The game sets up alot of stuff where you can back track if you want to, like Papyrus saying you can date later is actually an option if you go into his house after the battle

im not trying telling you what you should do with the reset, but i promise you if you want the most engaging and emotional experience then do pacifist and then genocide. trust me the best moments in undertale will hit a lot harder. and if you just want blood and commit genocide then it'll be a lot more rewarding to do so after pacifist

A note for the Flowey fight In the "soul phases" (the intermission bits) you can't die regardless of how much damage you take The flowey fight is known for being easy "if you know what you're doing", you probably just picked up on that quite fast. I'd recommend re-playing it and doing some of what you missed, both runs (although pacifist definitely has more) have interesting things to see.

There is a whole story that you cant see in the normal route, a lot of the story is shown to you both in the pacifist and the genocide(masochist) I would say to do the pacifist first but you do you, both are amazing

You can see Undyne again after the chase. Just like Papyrus mentioned there is the ability to visit both Papyrus' house with him and Undyne's. In a true pacifist playthrough there's even a whole story arc with Undyne and Alphys.

Anytime there was a point where you felt confused, or that there was a loose end, the game actually explains or ties it up. There are a lot of things in the game that can be discovered through exploration and interacting with NPCs and stuff. The True Pacifist run is what I'd recommend to hit that narrative satisfaction.

Have not finished the video yet, but I recommend waiting on Deltarune until you have seen the other two major endings of Undertale.

I'm pretty sure you can cut the muffet fight short by buying a spider product in the ruins and eating it during the fight

As it happens quite a few loose ends do get tied up in a few optional events (Like how papyrus kept mentioning how you still haven't come over to him for that date for example) man if only there was some secondary playthrough you could do to see these events... oh well, guess we'll never see them

The Photoshop Flowey battle isn't that hard, but it does throw so much stuff at you that if you aren't prepared for it, you're likely to be panicking. That's where it's difficulty lies. Most people lose the first time, but after a couple of attempts you notice it's not as hard as it seems.

Well, since you asked, it is almost always better to do a pacifist run before doing a, as you call it, masochist run. That's the intended progression, and also ties up some of the loose ends you mentioned earlier, such as what happens to undyne That being said, some things you should keep in mind: For both runs there are some specific things you have to do: pacifist requires a lot of backtracking into old areas, tho the game gives plenty of hints on what to do next iirc. For genocide, you have to kill _literally_ everything: this means grinding enemies on each of the areas until no more spawns. That being said, good luck 👍 On that note: A lot of the issues you mentioned, such as the lack of options in the menu or how esc instantly quits the game are fixed in deltarune, so if you want _more_ undertale I can not recommend it enough (In case you dont know, deltarune is undertale's sequel)

It’s so nice to see people experiencing this game for the first time, even after all these years. I STRONGLY recommend a pacifist run. There’s some optional content you missed out on, and the pacifist run also gives you some closure for Alphys’ story. I also recommend saving genocide for last since it’s a massive difficulty spike. All in all, this was very fun to watch. I first played Undertale when I was quite young and it genuinely changed me as a person. It’s a game that means the world to me, and I’m glad to see others enjoying it.

Always a treat t see frst time mostly unspoiled UT playthroughs! Would definitely recommend checking out the pacifist and the murder routes, in whatever order you feel like. People might recommend a particular one first but do what you like.

No matter what you do, Papyrus will always accidentally reveal what you're wearing to Undyne. Even if you happen to change your armor after lying or telling the truth, you can't escape his goof

I love blind playthroughs of undertale, seeing people react diferently to every little thing and joke about the game is great, the only thing I could say is that talking to the npcs and interacting with the inverement gives wonderful lines and context for the world, and of course we would love to see a Genocide/No mercy run of undertale! Just be sure to play again to get the REAL ending :)

That was great :) I think going as blind as possible is a great way to experience a first playthrough ! I would honestly love for you to make a pacifist run - it has a lot of great moments and answer a lot of questions. The Genocide / No mercy route is very interesting and definitely worth checking out AFTER that, but please be careful that it's both tedious and pretty brutal, as you face the two hardest bosses of the game, including one that is almost legendary for its difficulty !

This was so fun! It’s really rare to see a true neutral run. I also recommend pacifist first- I’ll be honest and say a lot of the same ground is retread, but you get a fuller story that way, and the “masochist” run expects you to have played pacifist at least once. Even the retread ground should be interesting and at least slightly different on another go-around! Anyway this was so much fun, your reactions were good and I’m excited to have found the channel! I hope you delve into other routes and Deltarune eventually, I think you’d have a great time and a lot of the questions and “loose ends” you see would be addressed!

I loved the video!! i would love to see both runs! there's still a lot you haven't seen, specifically what you said about undyne having a loose end, goes further into detail in the pacifist run, and the genocide run is incredible, though beware that it is a bit grindy, still, that run has some of the best boss battles this game has to offer. super excited to see what you'll do!

I'm glad you had a good time! I adore undertale and let me tell you - only playing the neutral run is like only playing 1/3 of a game and the other two thirds are also absolutely amazing.

You can interact with any signs you see, including the ones on the walls like in the area shown at 9:59. These signs tell you that all four rooms are actually the same room flipped 90 degrees, having some switches blocked by their respective pillars, and which color switch to hit in which room.

9:58 See, a lot of people don't get this puzzle, and I understand why, but here's the gist: The first room of the puzzle will have a sign saying something like "the door is not an exit, it simply marks a shift in perspective". What this means is, the next few rooms are actually copies of the first room, turned 90 degrees to the right. Then the signs in the next few rooms tell you which switch to press. You have to press that switch, with the understanding that it may be behind a pillar due to the shift in perspective.

I'd love to see you do a pacifist playthrough especially because some of the things you mention as not having follow up have so much follow up in the pacifist route speciifcallythe genocide route is also great but dodsnt do the above as much since you know.... Your killing everyone. But does lead to very different interactions instead. It's so fun seeing a first playthrough and seeing which monsters you struggled with and which ones you didn't. Since you were killing random enemies in the first area I was expecting you to think you had to fight toriel and it was so great seeing you figure out you still didn't have to. Watching her eventually give up hits me right in the feels every time The neutral end has a lot of different outcomes depending on who is still alive at the end. (Only effecting the epilogue mostly) but definitely delves the least into the story overall

A couple of tips for the other routes: To get true pacifist, you have to give Undyne the water after she passes out. This is one of the few requirements besides not killing anything, but the game makes the other requirements clear by itself. As someone else said, you have to kill all the monsters in each area for genocide. You have to do this in each area before fighting the area boss (so Toriel for the ruins). If you want to do this most efficiently, go to a different room after each kill. The game lets you know when you have enough kills in an obvious way, so if you're in doubt about if you have enough then you don't.

It is absolutely awesome seeing your perspectives about the story and the gameplay throughout this playthrough. You played the game in a way I don't see a lot of people play, and also in a way that I think a lot of people WOULD if they weren't spoiled or pressured by the larger community and/or content (including things like official trailers). There's a lot that you didn't get to experience that I did when I played, and there were things that I got to see for the first time by seeing you play. I love that about Undertale, and I'm glad that spirit can carry through for folks playing for the first time. Also I think it would be interesting to see you play the masochist route. I think the route offers some unique and intense perspectives that are interesting to experience and analyze from an emotionally conscious lens.

One Warning. IF you do the Kill-Everyone Route, you cannot go back. That is a final run that cant be taken back without cheating by modifying files.

You are missing out by not doing the pacifist route. There's a whole lot of story in the characters that you're missing out. I would dare say you haven't actually finished Undertale until doing a neutral route + pacifist. Of course, if you really don't care about the characters, you could always just show the monsters of the Underground how much of a monster you are...

get all 3 endings man, its so worth it, it really is, your an amazing content creator to have found and i cant speak for everyone else here but i know that i will be sticking around if you do

OH PLEASE DO A GENOCIDE RUN! It has so much hidden lore, depth and overall great storytelling within it

You are not “supposed” to do a killing-everyone-run before actually completing the game, and frankly, it would loose most of its meaning. You obviously can do it, you can do whatever you want, but I doubt you will enjoy it. If you do decide to do a killing run before pacifist (again, not recommended!), good luck, it probably won’t be fun, but at least you won’t be punched in the feels repeatedly.

i've LOVED going through your blind playthrough vids they're so much fun!! never thought i'd see new perspectives of cultural touchstone games like portal or undertale in 2024 lol, and i love the half-letsplay half-essay vibes to them. patiently waiting for the other two undertale runs. do them however you'd like ofc (that's what makes these fun!) but jsyk geno is incredibly grind-y and its big moments rely a lot on context from pacifist. in pacifist, there r fun moments where u can speak to/back-track to interact with the main cast, like with sans at the mtt hotel. (also, a good chunk of pacifist will retread the same ground as neutral, so feel free to speed through old content if/when u get bored :>)

I don't care which route you pick I just want you to see more of this phenomenal game.

There were many moments in this story where you felt like something was missing. You're right on the money! If you backtrack after certain events you can see certain things you would've missed. If you flirt with Papyrus you can go back after his battle and go on that date After the Undyne fight you can take up Papyrus' offer and go hang out at Undyne's place and eventually make friends with her. After the Metatton fight, you can go back to the lab to look for Alphys, where you can learn more about her and her motivations while also uncovering some of her dark secrets. Most people share the complaint that Alphys is pretty much unlikable on the first run through, but you start to get a better sense of her if you look deeper. There is a way to befriend almost every character and get them a happy ending. Just gotta do a bit of searching. I hope you do more videos on the other routes, I promise they're worth it!
