From the Okami Soundtrack. If anyone else wants more music from the Okami soundtrack, I'd be more then glad to upload it. I do not own rights to Okami.
14 years later, playing this on the Switch, the game hasn't aged a day. That art style can't age poorly, which is part of its beauty. A fantastic story that tells many Japanese folk tales to the uninitiated, with bits for those who already know, this game is perfect.
...Amaterasu is the Sun Goddess in Japan's native religion, Shinto. Ōkami means "wolf," but it can also mean "great god," which is how the title of this game is written. Putting Amaterasu in the form of a wolf is a bit of wordplay on the part of Clover. But the point is, her name is Amaterasu.
@@SilverBlazer565 i'm pretty sure originalph00tbag's comment was a play on the old "what if zelda was a girl?" joke, where people thought that the title "the legend of zelda" was referring to the protagonist
Through Action: A man becomes a hero. Through Death: A hero becomes a legend. Through Time: A legend becomes a myth. And by learning from the myth, a man takes action.
Please check out Bayonetta if you haven't. She is the best female character ever and the games themselves are amazing. They are made by Platinum which is the modern day version of Clover Studio, because some of the creators of that company founded it. Also, Platinum is making an Okami sequel and the guy responsible for the original game is behind it, so hopefully that will come out sometime this decade.
@Brythonic My biggest one for me, and this may come as a nitpick: Orochi at the start of the game was painted as the big main bad, you take him down and all is well and good. But when you do kill him, the game says "psyche, there's an even bigger villain out there." For me, that put the pacing off balance.
@Brythonic There are multiple flaws with the game, such as Issun pointing out blatantly obvious things, and on the other hand, pointing out stuff so that the player can't figure stuff out on their own. The pacing of the game in the beginning is also very slow, but it's an RPG so I understand why. The way the game recognizes brush techniques is also bad sometimes (Tried to do catwalk and it thought I was drawing the infinity sign, like what?). Some would say the game is too easy, but that's not a problem, more about what the focus went into, having a game easy doesn't mean it's bad. I however disagree with Orchestra Gamer up there about the pacing, when you kill Orochi with Susano, you're supposed to think the game is over, but then you learn that there are even bigger journeys ahead, it makes the game feel HUGE and it puts an even bigger emphasis on the word "epic". The only other complaint I have with it is that Yami has little to no backstory whatsoever, it's just kind of... There. At least with Orochi you have a personality. But maybe that's the point, I know it's kind of meant to be good vs evil and nature vs technology in the end, but that main antagonist was so weird to me. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this game. One of, if not my all time favorite games. The visuals? Stunning. The music? Absolutely breathtaking. But no game is perfect, and this is no exception. I will say this game is a prime example of what games could be, and if they ever made a sequel to Okamiden (Or maybe a prequel where you play as Ammy on the celestial plain as it gets attacked by Orochi) and if they fix the problems that Okami had, that would probably go on to be THE BEST game of all time. I would give the game a 9.9/10. Because even with those problems, they pale in comparison to the absolute mindblowing love and affection this game has put into it. Nearly everything with the game is perfect, and who knows, maybe everything will be perfect with it one day.
@@MayaMachina-n8s For me it was the fight with ninetails being the big bait. Orochi left me feeling hollow but the ninetails fight had almost all of the brush strokes, character deaths, there was a big emphasis on that being the end of the game. The yami fight was annoying to say the least, I despised it. But for me the big issue the game had was the camera, at times it worked fine, other times it aimed you down at the ground, acted sluggish, forced a viewpoint on you that was subpar.
I remember when i was playing Okami and my mom made a cake It was a simple day but i was so happy, unfortunately she passed away of a cancer 6 months Ago but i know she's in a better place, i love you so much mom ❤️
I feel sorry for you...i remember aswell when i Play first time this game. I was about to go and see with my girfriend....which is my wife now, we got 2 kids, many years passes...😢
Okami is the only game that made me me genuinely cry and it was because the game was ending. I didn’t want the game to end, that’s how much I loved this game.
I just learned about Okami recently and I have to say my first thought was "HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS?" I could of had such a better childhood. The Okami franchise is definitely one of the best, least capitalized series I've ever seen, from what I've read. If Zelda can make a thousand remakes why can't I have Okami 2 (Okamiden doesn't count, even though I liked that one too)? :(
Personally I couldn't stand the gameplay. I know "I'm bad" or something but I got lost in one of the first big areas and stuck at the beginning of the game and I can't stand games that I have to use a walkthrough to enjoy. But the story, art style, and music are great imo...
I always thought this boss fight was awesome, alongside this music, beacuse it's one of the few times a game lets you feel like you have the upper hand against the boss, with Ammy's sudden power boost, and the triumphant music, instead of some ominous latin chanting making the boss out to be some insurmountable wall. You are the goddess of the sun, all of humanity is behind you, and nothing is going stand in your way.
It's the end. Ushiwakamaru has fallen. The celestial brush gods have been destroyed. The sun is obscured by shadow. The Emperor of Everlasting Darkness stands poised to deliver the final blow. But suddenly, you feel your power returning. One by one the Gods of the Celestial Brush are restored. Issun has accepted his role as a celestial envoy, and restored the people's faith in you. You are Amaterasu, goddess of the sun, origin of all that is good, mother of the heavens. You are the the rising sun that will burn away the darkness. You cannot lose.
Yami! Your terror ends here! You think you can get away with spreading the world in darkness?!!? THINK AGIAN! I may also originate from the darkness in people's hearts, but you're still going down! Face the true meaning of hope, justice, peace, and restoration! You may have taken my throne, but I will reclaim it!- me if I were a heartless. (Probably)
Yami... Your hubris and your reign of terror has come to an end. For the people, for the Heavens, and for all those who cry for justice and salvation, Kenji Kuranaga, the Heaven's Champion, shall endure to strike you down. The hope of the people shall NEVER be exstinguished, for the after the night falls, the Rising Sun shall always prevail!- Kenji Kuranaga, lawful good japanese bounty hunter who aliased as 'The Heaven's Champion'.
Ned Zukoski (note, this is a continuation of my comment on this chain, so don't get confused, k? K.) I am Izonoxzi Algikop! Heir to the shade, blade of the light which is hallowed, and the Grim Reaper of all Evil! You darkness ends now! FACE, MY! PAIINNN!!!!
In my opinion, no other game has ever had this much love put into it. Every time I play Okami, I can just feel how much love and dedication Clover Studios put into making this game every moment I play. The pacing, the graphics, the music all just compliment each other throughout the entire game. The celestial brush made you the player feel like YOU were the one restoring balance and beauty to the landscape, not just the game itself. It could be a very long time if not ever that a game will ever be able to pull off this kind of originality and beauty that this game possesses. Okami is currently and probably will always be my favorite game of all time. It pains my heart to know that this game was ignored and under appreciated by people and that it caused Clover Studios to close because of it. But the people that had their hearts touched by this game will keep its spirit alive forever. I know I sure will.
I love Okami but...the pacing? The pacing is Twilight Princess levels of bad. Actually, it's probably worse, because that game's pacing eventually gets pretty great.
@@barrettfenwick8028 it's challenging for me to cry over anything like games, movies and all that. the movie Mysterious Skin didn't make me cry so let's see what I'm in for
I played Okami when it first released back in 2006. It took me 7 days of nonstop playing to complete it. That week has always stuck in my heart, and Okami is one of the very few true 10/10 games I've played
This song is just so amazing. The fight with Yami is pretty darn intense. While not particularly difficult, the fight still has a very bleak, almost hopeless feeling. You start with basically no powers, and have to struggle against him for the majority of the fight, as you slowly gain your abilities back...but at the same time, Yami only continues to grow more powerful as well. Then, he strikes you down. The moment you let your guard down, you are left wounded, powerless, and at the mercy of Yami...but then...the entire world calls out to you. Everyone you've met, everyone you've helped...they all come to your aid, they share their power with you...and with their prayers, wishes, and hopes, you gain all your power back and then some, as THIS music starts. The entire world is on your side, lending you their strength...and with that power, you can now burn away the darkness, and CRUSH the dark lord like the bug he is! That is why this song is so great...while it is an amazing song by itself, the way it is used in the game is just incredible. After the power struggle the boss fight was until this point, this music screams "You have the upper hand(or paw)! Yami is nothing before you now!" It's so empowering, and just makes you feel like you CANNOT lose!
I really love this song. It's so serene and calm compared to other final boss music, yet it captures perfectly the feeling of this fight. The sun has risen, your powers are back, and you're filled with a calm yet intense sense of determination. Basically you've already won, because you're *frickin' Amaterasu*
All these years later... and I still only have one word for this game in many regards. "Untouchable." A fantastic story, utterly beautiful art style, and a gorgeous soundtrack. This was a game I loved playing over and over, while shedding tears of both joy and sorrow for how the story unfolded.
Man... I hope Amaterasu is the final Smash character. I can absolutely picture how the trailer will go: A bunch of fighters visibly exhausted trying to deal with Dharkon (With Galeem dead thanks to Sephiroth). Suddenly, a bright light behind the fighters begins to brilliantly glow, severely weakening Dharkon. All the characters turn around and are somewhat apprehensive as they think it's Galeem. It then shows that it is in fact Amaterasu. She lets out a prideful howl. This song starts to play. "Amaterasu restores the balance!" (or whatever lol) The trailer ends with all the fighters and Amaterasu leaping to attack Dharkon.

There should be a re-make. I like it like this even after years but some people just don't think much of old games... This game is epic every time I play it I'm in amazement of how good it is, the story is super long and cool, the MUSIC ITSELF is worth spending like 20 $ on. I HOPE THEY HAVE IT ON THE NEXT NINTENDO SWICH!
This is in my opinion one of the most beautiful songs ever composed. I mean seriously, it has to be the most triumphant song I've ever heard. It's one of those songs where as soon as it starts you just KNOW you are going to win; that the upcoming fight is merely a formality because you cannot lose. You've got the power of love and righteousness on your side and nothing is going to stop you. You've tried so hard and journeyed far to get to this point and now you're going to save the fucking universe! YEAH!
I remember picking this game up from GameStop and the cashier or whatever there said that I made a good choice. I'm so glad I got it. The music, the artwork, everything is gorgeous.
I had picked up mine at walmart out of a nonchalant interest, lets say I got more than I bargained for lol, I've played this game on nearly every console, the fact that I still vividly remember buying it 10 years ago is truly a testimony to this game's greatness
I feel like Okami is one of few games that effectively recreates the feeling of you being a benevolent god traveling the lands restoring people's faith in you. I really just mean doing sidequests and building fame through that, but Okami does it well cause you're a god who has belief in you fading.
This ame is terrific at explaining the mythology. The only thing it gets wrong is Susano and Ameterasu and their relationship. Otherwise...its fucking perfect
Japan is a country of rising sun, its the symbol of their flag, its a major deity in their religion, and Amaterasu is their sun goddess, i hope they bring this to 2020 Tokyo Olympics Opening Ceremony!!, with an animation of sun rising!!
One of the best games ever. After going through one of the most symbolic boss fights ever (Yami's first form represents how humans like to destroy things, its second form represent how humans use fire to destroy things, its third form represents how humans like taking risks, its fourth form represents how humans use machines to destroy things, its last form represents how humans use their own hands for evil, and lastly, its true form represents how everything, even evil, can begin small.) Your friends basically say that they will have your back and you're not alone (in that awesome cutscene). You can't do everything by yourself and you don't have to shoulder all that burden by yourself (which is the moral of this awesome story.) You have helped everyone in Nippon people in need, and you asked for nothing in return? Un-uh. We are helping you reguardless. We have your back. That lesson is powerful enough, but the way the game take that concept, ices it with some of the best music I've heard, and completes it with unique graphics, great cinematic gameplay (a little repetitive at times) and one hell of a story. This game needs a prequel or we need a sequel after Okamiden that shows how Amaterasu and (possibly) Chibiterasu go about cleansing the Celestial Plains to restore it to its former beauty. Wonder if it could be possible for a 2-player game to be made? I Think us fans would crap our pants if any of these were to happen.
No his first form was how humanity destroys thing his second form is how humanity desire to burn and third form is how humanity uses machines to destroy and final form is humanity's desire to use there hands for evil
I'm genuinely curious, where is this symbolism about Yami coming from? It's been a long time since I played Okami but I don't remember anything indicating Yami as a symbol of *human* evil, and that was not the theme of the game at all (most every threat or evil was non-human). That all seems very trite and headcanony to me, but correct me if I'm wrong.
ArcViper it is not headcannon...the word yami is Japanese for darkness, there is much Japanese folklore hidden in the game, and the Oni known as Yami is one of them
darkclawgreatonenas I know what his name means, although I'm not finding any info about an oni named Yami in folklore. Regardless, that didn't even come close to answering my question. Until someone can provide a source of some kind then I would assume that someone made the symbolism up and it spread like a meme.
Man, if Ammy was in Smash...her final Smash would be the Sun Rising and she gets majorly increased stats. She'd get tendrils and howl when her Final Smash is over
DarkenMidnacrystal would her side taunt be peeing on people? I couldn't believe they made peeing and explosive dog turds buyable moves to learn in the game, first time I played. Xo
Man, these days I can barely listen to this song without getting a little teary eyed. I remember picking up this game after randomly hearing Chuggaaconroy mention it (long before the LP), and I've never regretted it. In a matter of days, the game went from a blip on my radar to being among my top 5 favorite games of all time. This game is beautiful, not just visually, but also artistically. It is easily one of the most compelling games I've ever played, and it is so wonderfully deep in symbolism and meaning that I still learn new things to this day, over 5 years later. And this song! This song! Simply breathtaking! *I love this game.*
This track is special. It plays during the final boss, but it is not their theme. It is YOUR theme. Amaterasu, Goddess of the sun, wilder of the celestial brush.
I love that the fact that the final boss is not particularly hard or challenging, because it is not supposed to be. With your best bud Issun's help in restoring the faith of the people across the country, what chance does the King of Eternal Darkness (lit. translation of the Japanese name of Yami, 常闇ノ皇) stands before the Goddess of the Sun?
This game is so good that I almost feel like I should spread the message everywhere about how awesome this game is.....(kind of like Issun at the end)...lol...More people should play this game though. I feel like many just judge it before giving it a try.
Emily M I hear you. I got it for the PS3 last year, and it was AMAZING! Definitely one of my favorite games! Got the sequel for the halibut, but I've yet to play through all of it. I love what I've seen of Okamiden already, though!
He probably would have been taken to jail. Then again he could keep throwing manuals at the cops and his cellmates so the message can be spread to all.
This is the best battle music I've ever heard! At this point, I knew that this game was something special. I cried like a little baby right before this started playing. To hear this come on, I didn't know what to do with myself anymore. I didn't know which emotion was appropriate. Never has anything ever done something like this to me. I will forever love you, Okami Amaterasu, origin of all that is good and mother to us all.
Okami is an amazing game. It really is unforgettable. It has beautiful art, a riveting story, and very smooth but unique gameplay. It's not one of those games that boasts fast-paced, action-filled gameplay. It really lets you slow down for a bit and just focus on what's really important, appreciate nature more. It's such a cultural game, the culture which stems from an appreciation of nature. It really opens your eyes to the beauty of the world and the delicate balance between life and death
This is the best game ever made in my opinion, so much beauty for just a game. The storyline is exciting and unexpected, driving you inside the game with every step, making you wanna play it forever. Also it has the most beautiful OST i ever heard !! " A river of stars may separate the two, but in the end, the two will join each other. " (Waka)
I loved the character concept of Yami as a final boss, as well as the whole final area of the Ark of Yamato, because there was such minimal dialogue. In Zelda games, you always get "I WILL BE YOUR DOOM, I WILL CONQUER ALL, BLAH BLAH BAD GUY MONOLOGUE" but Yami's silence spoke volumes to its malice and untold (literally) dark power. In fact, the first name the creators of Yami had in mind for this character was Hollow Death, which they were remiss did not make its way to the final cut. Source: Okami Official Complete Works, book, English.
I finally had the chance to experience this game because my local library has a copy. I waited patiently for my chance to check it out, and my patience was rewarded. I want to emphasize that this is not a perfect game by any means. There were some times I found myself a little frustrated, especially when it came to the controls (I had the Wii version). However, I still greatly enjoyed the experience, and I highly recommend it. This song is easily my favorite track in the game, and it perfectly compliments the final battle.
Felt great playing Okami again after 2 years. The art style is just amazing for me and I love the mechanics. I nearly teared because of this song. I was also lucky that I knew where all the stray beads were at the time too haha. I would seriously recommend this game to anybody that haven't even played it yet and give it a chance. If they seem to enjoy it, they should get Okamiden for the Nintendo DS.
KitsuneXIIIKitsu It's sad that anyone who didn't get it for PS2 missed out on the beautiful end credits we got, among other things. I wish Clover hadn't been shut down. Then they could have shared in the beauty first hand like us who were able to experience this game as it was meant to be experienced.
TheLastVoodooMan Still has things cut out. Only the original has everything it's supposed to have, as after that they had to remove anything that referenced Clover Studio. That included the ending credits, which were beautiful all on their own.
+SylveonMoon Eh, not any more ridiculous than japanese mythology. It's actually quite close to how the fanbase hypes it up. Not quite, but still close. But even I, with my fanaticism about it, can't quite understand how in the world did it come up in this video's comments. I know it comes up everywhere, but damn.
I got crippled by that Undertale comment, not because It's undertale but because It doesn't stand as a beautiful piece of music as said In the comment...
This game is nothing short of magic. Everyone who had a hand In making this game contributed to the magic. It represents everything I love about the medium of gaming: passionate people coming together to realise a vision. The music, the art, the story, the characters, everything. This game is just magic.
All the songs used in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 march in were marvelous, but I just can't help but wished that they used this theme for Japan's entrance.
This game is the only game in existence that can physically make me cry and I don't cry because it's over, it's because of the fact that some parts of the game I can actually relate to and it helps me release a lot of emotional, mental and spiritual stress, strain and anxiety all at once, this game has helped me through my childhood all the way into adulthood and even now whenever I need to cry I will listen to the songs from this game just so I can have that relief and I love it through and through I will never recommend anything other than this, have a good day y'all
IKR jellyfishgell I would love if there was a game which is like the past where amaterasu is on the celestial plain and then waka comes and you need to fight orochi...
I just... I have been utterly breathless of every time I revisit this game. Even when it's 2018 it's aged too well. The Music, The Graphics, The symbolism and how well they convey it into a story, OH MY GOD IT'S JUST SO FUCKING BEAUTIFUL! This was honestly the BEST game I ever played, EVERYTHING is beautiful about it, even the Wii controls are amazing, All this care into a game, and this MUSIC. You know you made a good fucking game when NONE of the music gets annoying, repetitive, or just boring. EVERYTHING IS BEAUTIFUL ABOUT THIS GAME I JUST- AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH
Capcom: YEAH BUT WHAT..... Clover Studio: NIIIIIPPOOOOOOON, BAKAMONO! Capcom: Okay.....oookaaay......*slowly backs out* ....We just let you do your thing....
They're seriously porting Okami to everything nowadays, and I have no problem with that whatsoever. Just wish Platinum Games (who contain the remaining original dev team for Okami) and Capcom (who still hold the rights to the IP) would team up to do some other game in that game world. Not an Okami sequel since I think it ended perfectly, but another story set in that world.
And I am glad of it, because I finally get to play it, though I have to admit I suck at playing, but it is so beautiful I don't even mind! Also, bought the entire game soundtrack, because the music is too good not to.
@@reginal.898 I am glad every time they put Okami on a new console because then more people get to experience what I think is the greatest game ever made.
I got emotional during that last battle and then I couldn't hold it in anymore and cried during the ending, what a beautiful game, definitely one of my favourite's
"In all these tales, there is no record of a decisive victor. Has no one emerged victorious? Or was the event simply not recorded? As the darkness tries to cover all, forget not the warmth of purifying light. Prayer is power. Power is prayer"
All hope is lost. Yami has won, and your powers have been stripped from you once more. The day of darkness shall never end...but in the darkness, a light. The prayers, the hopes, of all those whose lives you've touched on your journey, all rising up in a flare of beauty, all ignited by your greatest ally - the wandering artist. And as the people put their hands together in prayer, their hopes and dreams flow through you and revive you. You are Okami Amaterasu, the Rising Sun, and you will burn away the darkness before you!
I still can't get over this game to this day. One of if not the most artistically beautiful game ever. The soundtrack is unbelievable and still makes me emotional and nostalgic. This game is a labor of love, this game has soul. Very sad that apparently it did not sell well enough at the time.
i played this masterpiece in Wii, so i came here to listen 8 years before and i cried, its a so emocional track, trully beauty. Miss you Amaterasu the sun god.
