sure but especially in the korean beauty industry, that colour palette is a dime a dozen. The pricing is also really audacious considering theres no thought into the packaging or even the colour scheme. it seems like such a thoughtless cash grab
It will only work for warm and cool toned fair skinned people which if you’re darker than this guy or Somi (as a fair chunk of the SK and global population somi is targeting) it’ll either look ashy or be a really expensive eyeshadow quad. Also for a makeup brand the fact they’re only launching one niche product is a choice. It’s giving white label brand deal
@@SWAMPMONSTER5000 imma be real... i think the silly drawing on the packaging could be chaeyoung's drawing (from twice) ?? Since I'm they're friends so maybe??
The palette is genuinely so gorgeous, like I've rarely ever seen a highlighter palette with fine particles, and this shimmery that I like. And the fact that it's catered for idols too??? like yes I WANT TO LOOK LIKE A STAR TOOO HELLOO?????
Idk why ppl were so pressed abt the pricing. It’s literally on par with most celebrity brands at the moment. It’s not drug store pricing but it’s definitely not luxury brand pricing either. It’s right in the middle. If it’s not in your price range then don’t buy it. That’s all there is to it. The shades are so pretty too. I’m really into pink highlighter at the moment to give me an ethereal moment. So these shades are speaking to me. Good thing I watched your review😮😊
It’s not the same packaging as Dior lmao 💀. Somi’s looks like the exact same makeup packaging I see on temu/shein/amazon which means her markup is insane considering how cheap those components are to make. For a few dollars more people could spend on a brand that actually has global name recognition if that’s what they’re into (Dior) with more shade options vs. falling for the same name hype with a lesser known non established entity with a niche product
@@LP-ct9nk I own the Dior backstage highlighter palette and it’s literally the same packaging. The only visual differences are the logo and slight design choices. What you’re usually paying for with luxury brands is the quality of the formula and sometimes the packaging. Dior’s highlighter (the actual powder itself) is made in Italy, in which makeup products made in Italy are known for their quality. But luxury brands use “cheap packaging” all the time too. I’ve been collecting makeup for many years, so I have everything from elf to Tom Ford. Most makeup products are made in the same factories too bc about 7 conglomerates own all the makeup brands in the world. Of course each company has its own creative directors and strategic marketing but many products are pretty similar to each other. As a general consumer of makeup and collector what I’m looking for in makeup is ingenuity, quality ingredients, good color payoff, cohesive color stories, cute ass/unique packaging, and good times. It’s fun to collect makeup and wear makeup. I think that is what Somi was going for here bc of the drawings on the unicarton and the almost pastel shade selection. It says fun and playful to me. The pricing of Somi’s highlighter is not expensive and it’s not cheap, it’s in the middle. It’s up to the consumer whether they want to purchase it depending on various factors. But from what I’ve seen in this video, the quality is there. The highlighters also look like something I’d like bc the powder seems smooth with small glitter particles. They have an almost duochrome reflective sheen to them. They were reminding me of these highlighters I own from Glamlite and Fenty beauty. As someone who knows all the information I know about makeup, it’s seems like ppl are really just fishing for things to hate on Somi for. She can’t catch a break. Girl is just doing what most smart celebrities have done in their career. I honestly think more thought could’ve gone into the marketing and overall look of the packaging for the products bc I don’t associate it with Somi. It seems like her name was just slapped on it. I mean she’s taken the time to pick out the shades and that has meaning behind it but her personality is not shining through it. But overall there really isn’t any issues with the product like it’s been worked up to be.
Honestly it's just that Kbeauty Brands don't go this expensive I think that's why they expected it to be cheaper. Most beauty products in Korea rarely go beyond 25 but seeing as the parent company is a US brand I kinda understand why they came up with that price.
Jeon, SoMi’s highlighter is all over the place and I am glad and happy that you did a review on it, Edward. The highlighter palette is gorgeous! You look great in all 4 shades, Edward! Thank you, thank you for the review. 👏🏻🎨😄🤩👍🏻👏🏻💕🩷💝
the bass @11:39... this one is a winner yall aha. that voice came from deep within along with the mmhmms lolz. i have no idea what drama is happening with Jeon Somi's makeup but i appreciate the review. i think with this quality i could definitely see myself playing around with these colors. dude i always love your insight on other details like comparing pricing and such. you a real one. happy editing Eddy 🎞🎉
the design and artworks are actually made by somi 🥰 the drawing of a girl on the packaging is her first art when she was still a child 🥰 thank you for this review 🫶🏻
Omg! Thanks Edward for talking abt brushes and how to use the pallet because I've seen a lot of reviews where they don't do justice to some rlly nice products. love u
The review made me want that palette, the way you explain why you like your brushes + the different colours for different purposes is very great to know so thank you for this honest review
Gosh, I just love you and I would love to see more skincare videos!! I know your skincare is really basic, but literally basic skincare, when you dont change much gives the best results... And I could watch it over and over, and you talking during it, aghhhhhhhhhh!!
I heard about the uproar regarding this launch, but you know I was waiting for Eddy to review it and he came thru. I really like the colors and more into what I like so I might just grab my hand on one if I can. Especially since they are all together in a pallette rather than me fishing for them individually.
Darlin’, you are GORGEOUS with your natural hair colour! BTW, I was howling while watching the Tik Tok videos…Mr. Man-on-the-Street talking about Korean packages. 😂😂😂 Loved it!!
Hey gurl 💋, are you going to buy the new violet strawberry rococo limited edition that Flower Knows will be releasing this Monday, April 8? I would love a review from youuu 😩🩷
I was a little apprehensive, lookedn cheap but then you did the test at the beginning and I went oooo and then Eddie went oooo and it was basically just ooo ing a long. lol
I actually use several green highlighters! I'm very fair with green undertones. I wouldn't say it looks NATURAL, but it doesn't look odd either. It looks cyborg-y, y2k-y. Should I upload a look?
6:06 😅 I’m one of the people who wants to know what highlighter they were using haha. ( their makeup artist is very talented they always experiment with the makeup looks)
tbh i think it's a little expensive for what you;re getting compared to other brands, but it's not terrible. it reminds me A LOT of a cult fav of a few yrs ago, the Sleek makeup highlighter
