The first half of the movie felt like it was trying to match the energy of Devil Wears Prada and I just felt that it missed the mark. There were certain scenes where the camera moved slightly too fast or it seemed like a better shot could have been used.

The original Cruella didn't hate dogs, she didn't care about any animal. She only liked them for fur coats, which given the time the story is set, is kind of accurate to a lot of socialites. In the 1996 movie, Cruella is a lot like this one. She is a successful fashion designer and only gets the idea for a Dalmatian coat when Anita doodles one at work. Again though, she is only in it for the coat, she isn't just killing animals for fun, unlike the original book. Wow, that Cruella is a piece of work.

But dont forget that Dalmations are not the Only animal she skinned in the live action movie. She also had the endangered Siberian tiger from the zoo Skinned for a coat. I also really liked the sequel that tried to hypnotize her into loving animals

Cruella wouldn't have thought of using dalmatian fur for a coat until she saw Anita's sketch. She hesitated at first thinking that spots wouldn't be that great but Anita convinced her regardless.

Notre Dame de Paris (the original name literally just named after the building) is slightly different. Hell even Victor Hugo had different versions (I think it's just 2 from memory - both fantastic btw!).

I really really enjoyed this movie. Actually editing my own short video about it as I watch this. I see that most of the people who dislike it are the ones who have trouble separating it from other 101 Dalmatians media, and I gotta say I don’t get it. Cruella is very plainly not a prequel to anything else, but a standalone narrative, and AS such it’s surprisingly well crafted and engaging. Easily my favorite of Disney’s recent live action output.

I've seen people reduce it to "She hates dalmatians because they killed her mom" and I just don't think they took the time to watch the movie. She rescues a dog, blames herself then The Baroness for her death and in the end takes ownership of them and gifts Anita and Roger a pair of them. It's a Cruella De Vil origin story, nothing more. But that doesn't jive with people wholly enamored with 101 Dalmatians.

The other thing Ive been seeing is people not really understanding the original movies and what about the time shaped those portrayals. There were several times I felt like people should reexamine the old disney films before taking a crack at this one.

Cruella was probably the best live action reimagining Disney's done- and rebooting the universe with Cruella as a Harley Quinn-esque anti hero was the right move. This felt like the director had a lot of creative control (he also did I, Tonya) and they didn't stand in the way or try to kidify this- it was awesome. I really hope more reimagined Disney movies are like this than Beauty and The Beast- this felt like Joker/Harley Quinn/meets Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels with a hint of Devil Wears Prada and the Italian Job. Love your commentary as always dude! also the MUSIC!!!

Really liked this movie. Emma Stone's performance was fantastic. And I can see this film winning at least one Oscar for costumes and stuff. Pretty nice work in that whole department. But I didn't even think about a potential sequel. I honestly thought, they just tell her origin story and that's it..

She was rude and manipulated people to do, what she wants by pretending that she cares about them. So you think Joker is a prequel to the first Batman film or The Dark Knight? Unless no one officially calls it a prequel, I assume it's a new interpretation. I guess you're a big fan of 101 Dalmatians, if you react that emotionally^^ Maybe you should just relax and wait what they have in store for it. Anita knowing Cruella from school was in the original novel by Dodie Smith ("The Hundred and One Dalmatians" was a book before it was ever a film). She was expelled for drinking ink. This film is mostly it's own thing and invented a background for Cruella but there are a few hints of the original book Cruella here - like in the novel and unlike the Disney films she isn't a mean boss to Anita (or Mrs Dearly as she was in the book), she's the last of her family line and she's depicted as beautiful if eerie looking.

Probably haven't seen them since I was a kid too, and I'm actually glad I didn't do a rewatch of any other Dalmatian movies first. The movie was doing so much of its own thing anyway, so it leads to less back-of-mind nitpicking, and it made the mid-credits scene a surprise Oh, and watch the show Euphoria. A version of that transition to Stone is done much better in it

I saw this over the weekend (1st time going to the theater). I loved this movie (my unrequited love for Emma Stone aside) as the set design, costume design and music (sure at some points they don’t really mesh with what is going on) are amazing. Do this reminds me of the Devil wears Prada? Sure, but that is good, darling lol

SEQUEL MAYBE PLOT: What if like Roger was convinced by the Baroness because he used to work for her that that was actually a dalmatian coat and dragged Anita into it because he knows that Anita is kinda Cruella's bestie so he tricked her into marrying him but Cruella came over to look at the dogs to base her fashion on them so she made a fur coat out of fake fur but then Roger thinks its real and Anita thinks Cruella betrayed her by skinning her dogs when the dogs were just there to play with their dogs. Also, they got another dalmatian and they had a baby because they thought just one dalmatian would be lonely. Also, Cruella makes her own fashion line with all kinds of different fashion and Artie helps.

I love this so movie sooo much! I saw in theaters with my family and a week we payed for it on Disney+ because we all loved it so much! Also at 19:38 the style of Cruellas hair here is a reference to Glen Closes Cruella from the live action 101 Dalmatians

I saw this on opening weekend and then came home to read mediocre reviews online. I'm so happy to see you react like me, I loved this movie. Jasper's voice reminds me of someone but I can't place him on imdb. Anyone else recognise his voice?

I agree about the ending credits. Emma Stone play as Cruella love dogs and the 101 Dalmatian doesn't happen and we already know what happened in that an which is a good idea. And the second one the baroness return like escape from prison sounds like a good idea and get revenge for Cruella.

Some people are still prickly about having to pay extra when they're using a streaming service. Some people let nostalgia become an obstacle. I've seen this and Amanda the Jedi's viceos and both have had good things to say. There's also the holdouts that believe we having been in a remake cycle for atleat 60 years now. I haven't watched it yet, and it's not my usual watch, but I think this would be a fun movie.

@@abbeyBominable123 I have seen it and I don't hate _the movie_ but I hate the 2 major plot holes it has.1)Cruella has the CHANCE to kill some dalmatians for a purpose(take back her necklace)and to make a coat with them to piss the Baroness off and she doesn't do that...it's not that she WANTS to,but she's stopped by Jasper...no,no,no,she CHOOSES not to do it!2)SHE gives Pongo&Perdita to Rudy&Anita!The same dogs of whome she will want to kidnap and kill the puppies!HOW does this make *any* sense?!?It would have made more sense if she told Jasper&Horace to give the puppies away and _without her knowing it_ Anita&Rudy ended up taking Pongo&Perdy in 2 different moments.But this way?ZERO CONTINUITY with the cartoon we know!

@@Nicamon those are not plotholes lol. You shouldn't connect this movie to the other Dalmations movies. This movie is its own thing, its never meant to have any continuity with the previous movies. In this version she is obviously a dog lover and not a fur-loving maniac. Just like how Angelina Jolie's Maleficent is different from the animated version, this Cruella is also different from her previous incarnations.

i like that the song at the end is the Rolling Stones song where they are singing please to meet you let me tell you my name, but i think they never do because in the song they are singing if they are the devil . i don't know if there 's a moniker about him not having a name or not. and also i like when she breaks the two guys out of jail , it's like that scene in Terminator where he goes to the police station and just asks to see Sarah Connor, and they tell him to wait, not putting it together that he's the murderer. then he says , I'll be back and the next thing you know, he's driving a truck right through the front of the police station destroying it so he can get in.

I was totally blown away by this movie. I hope people go to the theaters to watch this. Its absolutely 💯 recommended. I hope it makes enough money so we can get a sequel. Both Emma's were terrific

I was confused on what the baroness knew and when. She talks to her assistant about the baby she had as if she knew the baby was cruella. She knew cruella was alive, but when did she find out? So did she know cruella was her daughter before the cliff or not?

I've seen three movies since the re-opening of my local theater. The first two will possibly be getting Best Picture nominations next year. The third movie I saw was Cruella, and it ended up being the most entertaining by far.

I came here to see your comments of the movie that I just got to watch now (a little bit late) and I was surprised to see a black ring on your middle finger, I said, is it what I think? And it turns out it is, and it means a lot to me that you wear it 💜🖤🤍 I really appreciate the little detail of wearing it, truly made my day. It did me good to see it on someone for the first time.
