Hard to believe this is the same team that lost to South Alabama. I thought their season was done. Mike Gundy has done a hell of a job bringing this team back.
This is why we need big state rivalries, they can still prove to a be great sport to watch regardless of where they are ranked, as a bonus fans of both teams get to come and watch their team play even if it is against an away team. Now instead of this we are going to get big teams that rarely play teams that are regionally significant and still facing off against caliber teams (please no PSU vs U of O stuff). Now we get to just watch them on the TV by having them burn carbon emissions by flying to another time-zone to face off another powerhouse team.
You're spot on. It's a consolidation of wealth with teams like OU joining the SEC, and, geographically, it makes no sense at all. This was a great rivalry over the past few decades.
It’s not much, but I have a counter to this whole realignment: bring back or keep the biggest rivalries on and the week before Rivalry Week. Specifically, non-conference rivalries. Like Kansas-Missouri.
Can you imagine the life of an athlete on these teams? 15 hours of travel most weeks. Flying coast to coast to play a game & return. They will be missing a tremendous amount of academic time. 97% will never receive a check as a professional athlete, so their education determines their financial future. Are they really going to fly the field hockey, cross country, & swim teams coast to coast? This is about football money & makes no sense for anyone else.
True, but some are actually being reunited. Texas/Texas a&m, BYU/Utah, Texas/Arkansas. Others are being saved: Arizona/Arizona State, Oregon/Washington.
Gators and Seminoles have been playing each other for over 50 years and have never been in the same conference. There is no reason these need to go away. I think losing these rivalries is really bad for college football. 118 meetings and they are just going to stop playing each other? Pathetic.
@@RobMacQ No question OU and OSU should keep playing. Texas and OU were not in the same conference for the vast majority of the 100 years they have played, or whatever the number is.
Seems inevitable, every school wants to be in the conference that will get them the most money, naturally. The Pac 12 is dissolving because of poor management and failed negotiations with tv/streaming networks. The big market schools will all probably eventually end up in 2 super conferences like most professional sports, and all the smaller market schools will be left to fend for themselves in low earning regional conferences that no one but the home fans care about. Frankly, college football seems like it's currently in a state where it doesn't really know what to do with itself
I am not even a fan of either team but this was so satisfying to watch All this conference realignment has basically destroyed what made college football great
@@officialfumofeltingchannel1490 yeah but honestly that was fine because Texas needed to be in the same conference with teams like OU and Nebraska the conference realignment of the 2010s to present makes no fucking sense at all. How does one conference have teams in L.A. and then also teams in New Jersey. so fucking dumb
This one's going to sting for the Sooners. Their season is essentially over and they achieved zero of their objectives. Lost Bedlam (forever, as this'll be the last one), will not win the conference, will miss the CFP.
outside of Bedlam, I don't think they missed a whole lot of objectives. surely people didn't expect them coming off a literal losing season to make playoffs the next year, tho at least making conference title game would be nice. I think it was just after the UT win when people started buying into the hype a bit too much, only to be brought down to earth now. the fact they were in contention shows the improvement from last year, not to mention they got a good win against a playoff-contending UT. could totally finish the season 10-2, though they better turn it around the next few weeks to achieve that. not to mention both losses will be to teams likely ranked in the final poll. so anyway, that's why you could say it's not too bad of a season for the sooners
As a Sooners fan, I want Brett Veneables and the offensive coordinator fired and gone right now. They have pissed me the fuck off for the last damn time and I'm sick of it. Everyone has to go. Clean House
@@ryanamburgy2791it’s wild that he had 140yds, 2 TDs, and was technically a bad game for him. Just an animal. Hope he gets rest this week for our final push to Arlington!
@@kylewood4488-b9rif you look up what Bowman has done since being named starter (conference play), it might surprise you (in the passing game) to see he’s damn near stat for stat with Gabriel.
Bright side is it probably won't be the end. As a Texas fan, I admit that I was bummed that the Texas/TAMU rivalry ended but now it's coming back with both being in the SEC next year.
it's insane to think college football will kill the only thing that has continually made it popular because a group of people and networks wanted money. ):
You're about 25 years too late for that. The Big Eight was fine, and the Big teXXXas Conference ruined it. From that point on it was only about money and ad revenue, not traditional rivalries.
True. Rivalries like this one mean alot to most of us. Even those who usually aren't very interested in Football would watch rivalries like Bedlam because it's iconic and a tradition. Hope the Sooners enjoy eating the leftovers in the SEC. I give them 5 years. They may want to come back to the Big 12 or 14 after living in the shadow of Alabama and Georgia for a while.
@@kylewood4488-b9rit will be hilarious seeing OSU, or Utah, or literally any of the Big 12 Champs in the playoffs while Oklahoma watches from home. They must not have realized just how hard they were shooting themselves in the foot from an on field standpoint. They went for money, and they lost the game
So why the fuck was that passing interference not called against Oklahoma State in the end zone in the 4th quarter even the rules analyst said it should of been 100% called
@@bobishumin4853And a horrible no call on a receiver in the end zone. This may be a novel concept to you, but you are allowed to win a game even if you have turnovers.
@@AndrewFloeter12definitely not allowed to when you run a 3yd out rout on 4th and 5. The No flag was bad (coming from a Pike here) but OU’s playcalling in the fourth cost them the game. At one point it was 27-21, OU had it 1st & 10 at the OSU 16, had to kick a FG.
OU fans hate nothing more than an OSU fan that didn’t attend OSU. The reflection is maddening for them. Please move to OK and be a Cowboy just to stick it to them

Oklahoma will play Iowa State in Ames in 2024 in college football in the big 12 next year in Jack Trice Stadium cause next year will be the final season for Oklahoma in the big 12 before they move to the SEC in 2025 or Iowa State will play Utah on the Road in Rice Eccles Stadium and play Cincinnati in Ames, Iowa in the big 12 next season. But this won’t be the last bedlam ever. Bedlam will be back in 2024 in the big 12 conference.

It’s not. It may not be for 5-10 years, but it will get played similar to teams like georgia and clemson play consistently and are not in the same conference
Rewatching, Number 11 on D played that perfectly. He didn't get caught in traffic, he stayed right where the line was so when he pursued for the tackle it would assuredly be behind the line. He understood where his fellow defender would be, #1, to force that throw to the outside to avoid being picked. It was so clear Stoops was the design on that play. Excellent recognition to help win the game. Guarantee you that will be film topic this week.
As a sooner fan, we didnt play anywhere near our potential. That said, that missed PI call in the end zone late in the 4th was downright awful and totally bailed out OSU
3 TOs and a couple of bad fails on 4th down "BUT THE REFS THOUGH" OU built the coffin, climbed in, and handed the refs the nail for the door. And even after the no-call, they had another shot only to not call timeout for 4th and 5 and then run a horrible rollout and throw short of the line. Fire the OC into the sun for that one.
@@joewest3901 welp you can't deny that there's a big difference between a first and goal from the 5 and fg+wasted timeout. but you also can't deny that lebby needs to get out of there
Not really. Take off your crimson colored glasses. Our still had a chance and blew it. 3 tos and a dumb coach going on to the field and getting pf were more a factor. Boomer!
@@taylorjames2886I agree. Can’t believe the refs missed a field goal, lost 2 fumbles, threw an int, turned it over on downs twice, and managed the clock so terribly to end the game with a timeout. Freakin refs
My Sooner Coworker said that the game would be a blowout and that they'd score 50. I told him that overconfidence would come back to bite him and it definitely did.
For Penn State to get in, they would have to beat Michigan and beat Ohio State in the Big 10 Championship game. Oregon or Washington have a better chance of making the CFP than Penn State.
@@waffles4393OSU and Penn State are in the same division so wouldn't play each other in the Big Ten championship. Ohio State would still need to lose to Mich though
Perfect season for football in the state of Oklahoma. OU beats Texas. OSU beats OU. Everybody wins this year! Seriously, I had OU with 4 losses this year. The 7-0 start was not indicative of the progress made by the new coaching staff to completely rebuild the team. They need another couple of years to get the machine running again and then they may need another four years to figure out how to play in the SEC. It's basically going to be a long road to the 2030 season.
Thank god. Now we can stop hearing from Okiehoma homers about how their team should be in consideration for the CFP. In just 2 weeks they have managed to put an end to that themselves lol
shouldn't have been in the conversation in the first place, except the UT win built up false hype. big improvement from last year for sure, but Big12 title game should've been the ceiling. now that that's settled, can we do something about Washington? let's hope Caleb Williams can put them back in their place
@@madladmudkip9236 today is the day I really think they're gonna lose. USC is far better competition than the last 2 opponents UW has faced. They have not looked good lately. Even if their loss doesn't come today, they won't be making through their schedule unblemished. They're just not good enough.
Fact: every OSU fan acknowledges that was bad no call. It didn’t cost the game though, the equivalent of 5 turnovers and a missed field goal is damn near impossible to overcome
@@tb1235then it was a good move on the CB preventing the TD, and as I acknowledged before a bad no call. Still, even if it’s flagged it’s not guaranteed OU gets a TD. At one point OU was down 21-27 and was 1st &10 at the OSU 16, they had to kick a FG. There’s WAY more to the game than 1 bad no call.
The big 12 commissioner should be under federal investigation, the felonies being committed by him and his part time help in multiple states rigging games. He's the perfect candidate for the ricco act
OKST regularly creates a competitive game despite being out-recruited by the Sooners every year. Just imagine how good the Cowboys would be if they actually had a top recruiting class.
I think it's more just the occasion. Imagine if OSU played like they were playing OU every game and they'd knock the teeth out of every opponent. Same like with OU this season, they'd be undefeated if they would've played every game like it was against UT
@@brendanerdahl914 yes OU made their mistakes that cost them the game too. But the refs one sided calls late had a major impact on the game. You can absolutly put plenty of blame on them. You can’t say that just because a team played poor to start means that they shouldn’t get a fair opportunity to overcome that.
@@Aksm91ManNavar "Defensive pass interference is contact beyond the neutral zone by a Team B player whose intent to impede an eligible opponent is obvious and could prevent the opponent the opportunity of receiving a catchable forward pass" The WR had pushed him down just to jump for the ball. Had he NOT pushed him down, it would have been fine. But the fact that it WAS catchall for the WR means that ANY interference, such as shoving them down to the ground, should result in a pass interference. You cannot hinder the WR before the ball gets there, it's pretty fucking simple. If the DB touched the ball before touching the WR, that's also fine, but again, he had shoved the WR down JUST to catch the ball.
@@wladmuirpause at 1:06 and you can see the ball still in the air with the DB shoving the WR down. It's blatant PI. You cannot hinder the WR from a catchable ball, and that DB most definitely shoved him out of the way by jumping into the WR before the ball got there. If the DB never touched the WR, or knocked him down after he caught/touched the ball, it would have been fine because it would have been his ball, but the ball never got there to begin with and he was already shoving him out of the way, it IS PI.
Because of the long history of Oklahoma State getting a the calls? It’s good for Oklahoma to run away from the conference and leave it to the royal blue bloods like Oklahoma State… you picked up the sarcasm, right? I really laid it on.

Imagine playing a team for about a hundred years and losing so much you storm the field after the few times you've actually won the game. I suppose that's the life of an Aggie. Good luck in the Big 8 or whatever your confrence is called.
Unless Texas loses again, Big 12 is 100% outta the CFB playoffs! GGs Pokes and Sooners. One last victory for the Pokes in the Bedlam rivalry. Bowman to Owens 🔥
Me and my best friend, OSU alums, were like “I’m glad they did, but what was that play call?” Sure, the no call PI was a bad no call, but that play call obviously sealed it and in time will be remember led more than the no flag
I haven't followed any college this year, but that looked like REALLY sloppy play from a team that was supposedly 7-1. Unless their schedule has been incredibly easy this year.
Idk y but I feel everyone storming the field has become overrated. Like it seemed like back in the day it meant something. Now everyone just does it because they know oh it’s just a video opportunity. Idk but that’s just how I feel. Does anyone feel the same?
I’m sure Oklahoma will try to buy its future happiness with SEC money as they become the next Nebraska Cornhuskers, but they will always have this loss hanging over their heads. And Kansas. How the heck do you lose to Kansas. I don’t care if they are doing well this year. 🤣🤣🤣
OSU was ranked when this game happened (22), no idea why your title forgot to include that but included OU's rank, assuming it was to make OU look worse than they already do.
I'm confused as to why everybody thinks this will be the last bedlam ever. Did they forget non-conference games still exist? Obviously it may not happen every year anymore but you'd have to think they'll try to schedule it every other year or so.
I am old enough to remember when OU was the best football team in the State. I doubt I will live to see OU win the SEC and earn a rematch against a Big 12 Champ OSU. Sad.
