The fact that she is well aware she likely won't qualify for 3 of the 4 events, yet still competes them, shows her undying dedication and love of the sport. LIVING LEGEND!
Absolutely! Talk about never giving up. And simply, she just shows everybody to just try, try and do the best you can do. This is what is most important. And don't care what others think or say, that's their issue
Well, she qualified for the previous 7 Olympics, so if she doesn't qualify for her eighth it hardly matters anymore, does it? She doesn't have to prove a thing
@@BelleBlack1 Exactly! It annoys me when people say she should give her spot to a younger gymast. Why should she? If the younger gymnasts want a spot on the team then they can enter the competitions and qualify for it, same way she did. It's not her fault if the younger gymnasts aren't good enough to qualify
@@theshillneckedlizard8364Yes.. successful gymnasts are often half her age when they start coaching. I'm not being ageist but her talent, confidence, and drive is stunning.
It’s really inspiring. This sends such an amazing message to not only women but everyone that if you love gymnastics or anything that you should do it for as long as you want you no matter the age. Imagine if Shannon Miller, Alexi Nemov or even Dawes still competed at this level?
@Atlanta404 definitely! People who love gymnastics or other sports want to stay connected for life in any way. Whether that translates into coaching or judging but I think most people want to continue to do their sport. I agree. This is truly inspiring!
@@gymns411 Dawes totally could. She's in fantastic shape. I'd never know she had 4 kids except I've seen a few of her interviews this year. She must still do her old gymnastics workout minus the flipping.
Same here, saw her live in Stuttgart 2019, cried seeing her „leaving“ in Tokio. And now I hope to see her again, first live in Antwerpen, perhaps later in Paris 2024
Don't worry, you'll most probably be crying for years to come, athletes like her are forever "retiring", she will definitely go down in history as the oldest gymnast to ever compete in the olympics and the gymnast who has participated in the most number of olympics consecutively. Long live to the queen
Great how supportive we are of Eastern European athletes, although the fans make degrading comments about American Black gymnasts. I also think it great she’s still competing.
Amazing that she competes such a risky mount and lands it! Her beam skills are still impressive at her age whether she qualifies on this apparatus or not. 👏👏👏
This woman is the age of many grandparents and still competing at the elite level of one of, if not the most, physically demanding sports in the world. Absolutely astounding!
She will never be finished, like the „gymnastics granny“ Johanna Quaas, I guess she is way over 90 and still doing gymnastics It is really great seeing her still competing, and still be in such a good condition.
Son talent est à la hauteur de son mérite! Rare sont les filles qui font une carrière aussi longue et franchement chapeau pour ce talent hors norme 👍🫶. J'ai énormément d'administration pour cette "grande dame de la gym"💞
Seriously. Shows just how true it is that you get old when you don’t regularly move your body. Most people knocking on 50 couldn’t do this-myself included.
If she is the best her country has...... A talent yes, longevity yes. But she didn't learn the compex skills of today when younger. And her body won't allow her to develop anything more complex now. If there was a gold medal for longevity, then it is hers. And, I hope that if she doesn't retire the she keeps getting the permission to compete, as it is important that sport is pulled back from the juniors to the seniors. Gymnastics, like Ice Skating, ans a few others, in the Olympics and Worlds is being taken over by juniors, ao seniors find it difficult to make a career out of it - female level.
I had no idea she’d be so skilled on beam! I thought that she specialised in vault and didn’t do the other apparatus. I’m more in awe of her than ever!
uh 2024 would be Oksana's 9th Olympics 6th for her native Uzbekistan 2 for Germany 08-2012 and 1 for the Unified team in 1992 she lived in Germany from 2002-2013 due to her son having Leukemia when he was a toddler because he couldn't get the necessary treatment to save his life in Uzbekistan but he could in Germany he will be 25 a few months after the Olympics born 26 Nov 1999 and she competed in the Sydney Olympics 8 mos. later
Is that Uzbekistan is the only gymnast it has that only she represents that country , she is too old she should train other girls to do it. That is very selfish of her.
