His father was also a very kind man prior to his wife’s passing and financial problems. Nijimura putting all his anger onto Okuyasu and Keicho is all too real and many can relate to that experience. It’s really sweet that he let him in once Josuke simply put together that family picture.

i really liked how Okuyasu befriended Josuke instantly, too. it was kind of refreshing to see an enemies to friends relationship occur without a slow burn to sort out their differences.

Spicimemes this is why i always prefer sub over dub. i’ve always found japanese voice actors’ voices can be ragged (like oku’s) and yet smooth and easy to listen to. i mean being a native speaker has to do with it too but overall i just tend to prefer japanese voice actors’ voices

THIS IS IT. I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIGURE OUT WHY IT FEELS SO WEIRD SOMETIMES BUT THIS IS IT. THIS IS WHY. OH MY GOD But yeah totally. Idk, my feelings on dub Okuyasu is normally that the quality of his dub voice is just kind of a chameleon and sounds good or bad depending on whether the voice of the person he's interacting with is good or bad. Like, Josuke's VA (while stiff at first) is ultimately really good imo, but Koichi's (god bless, I know that poor actor is trying) sounds like nails on a chalkboard. So when he's playing off josuke it's good, and when he's playing off Kochi it's bad. But I think the dialogue is probably the thing that's holding dub Okuyasu back from being actively good, because YES. I feel like his actor does a pretty good job for the voice but the dialogue just sounds too well-read!! Like, sorry, Okuyasu does not use the word "caress", shut up.
