within the newly opened mixed-used district of azabudai hills, designed by heatherwick in central tokyo, lies olafur eliasson’s inaugural exhibition, signifying the gallery’s debut. scheduled to open its doors to the public on november 24, 2023, the collection encompasses a variety of his creations, including installations, sculptures, paintings, and photography, culminating in his recent public artwork, a harmonious cycle of interconnected nows, which sets the thematic tone for the displayed pieces. designboom had the opportunity to visit the azabudai hills gallery within the vibrant district and offer a preview of this exhibition, capturing a diverse range of eliasson’s endeavors.
