I've heard so many great things about Olaplex 3 after recommending it to my clients for years, but I always send them out with tips on how to use Olaplex no 3. Some of them have asked about using Olaplex no 3 overnight, and others ask what to expect with Olaplex no 3 before and after. In this video I break dow exactly how to use Olaplex 3, and what your expectations should be for this product. I've seen some reviews that are based on using the product once, but the truth is....using a product once really doesn't tell you anything about a product. I always love using it, especially after I get new highlights and my hair feels parched and dry. It is immediately more shiny, and easier to style which I love.

Hi Rochelle thank you so much:). It is def all about the lens for sure. I use the Sigma 1.8 18-35 and I love it. I was filming with the Canon Rebel for this video (t5i) but I just upgrades to the 90d which I love!

Hi Megan. Great video. Very informative!!! I am trying Olaplex 3 for the first time. My color appointment is in two weeks. Would it be best to wait to do the application after the color, or does it make a difference? Thanks!

You can do it now, and then again the week after your color (if you would like to)

is it ok to blow dry after or is it better to let the hair dry naturaly? I used it today for the 1st time and I don´t see big difference yet but I can already feel my hair is softer to touch....I am curious about the results after I use it more

It is completely fine to blow dry your hair after. Just be sure to include a good heat protectant:)

Can you shampoo before using Olaplex no. 3, and after the usage just rinse it off with water and not shampoo after it’s usage ?

You can, but your hair could feel weighed down.

you said to shampoo + conditioner before applying opalex 3 and after as well but would that strip my scalp too much?

If you are using a good shampoo you should be fine. If you are using a harsh shampoo, I would consider changing it. ALso if you find that your scalp feels stripped easily, I would consume more water and try adding more healthy fats, but you should be fine.

I’m curious why a lot of reviews say it left their hair more dry than before. What could be happening there?

From my experience in the salon it is either that: They bought the Olaplex because their hair was so damaged and are not taking responsibility for how fried their hair actually is (so they say the Olaplex did it) or...they switched from a product that had lots of silicone and things to coat the hair making it appear healthy, but just covering up the actual problem. Olaplex starts working right away, but they don't put tricky things into it that fool people into thinking their hair is healthier when it is not. Also, it takes time and many uses, it isn't a miracle, one time thing.

Absolutely, there’s no reason why you cannot. You don’t have to do so as it will still work without it but it would not hurt.

I'm 72 and have naturally grey hair. If I shampoo my hair and then towel dry it before applying Olaplex #3 why would I shampoo it again? also I was advised to towel dry again and apply Olaplex #6 and leave it on. What are your thoughts please?

I don't leave it in because it weighs my hair down, you can choose what to do for you.

I’ve never used Olaplex and I color my hair monthly to cover my gray using Naturtint. My hair is curly, fine, frizzy and I have an oily scalp. Do you recommend using Olaplex no 3?

I think it is worth a try. I don't think it really reduces frizziness though.

Start with clean hair Towel dry hair Apply no. 3, wide tooth comb, apply shower cap, wait 10 mins. Rinse I used no.3 last night, it made my hair super smooth, I couldn’t tell the difference in my silk pillowcase and my hair until I lifted my hair off the pillow. This morning; however, four inches at the end are so dry and looks like I just need to cut my losses. I’ve only had full highlights twice a year, last time I got my hair highlighted was before Halloween 2021. I used no.3/4/5

Nothing could permanently change your hair that much in one use, so you will be fine.

It really depends on your hair. I often just use three. Lately about 1x per month.

@@jess-np6ug this is mainly if you have product in your hair before applying olaplex. if you have any hair products in your hair, like gel or creams or hairspray, it’s better to shampoo then apply olaplex.

@@MeganGraham ah thanks sooo much! I originally got the mini tester box that had 3-6. I didn't really enjoy 4-5 after using 30ml of each... I actually experienced some hair loss. No6 I think I over used it on one occasion and it made my hair greasy and heavy so lesson learnt I will try again, less is more. I forgot I had 3 (my fave) and ended up getting the 100ml. I used it yday pre showering. My midlength and ends are damaged from bleach but I recently went back to my south asian dark hair. I have good hair genes and it was still shiney but after using 3 i was so impressed! My hair is amazing even hubby walked in after work and said what have you done to your hair I need to touch it 😂 i got 8 as well and it was ok but I prefer 3. I think I will use them in the same routine though next time, 3 8, 6 and hopefully with continued use see even more amazing results xxx

Really depends on how damaged your hair is. For my more damage clients I have them use it weekly, if your hair is very healthy already once a month should be sufficient and if you are somewhere in between perhaps twice a month.

Hi there, if you feel that your hair is very dry or damaged it would be fine to use it twice a week. Once you feel happy with the condition you could switch to doing it one time per week. I hope this is helpful!

I disagree with their directions, but you can use it however you would like to. I have years and years as a professional, Hair Colorist , and plenty of experience to know how I should use it the best.

You should watch the video again, and I do talk about timing there:). You don't need to leave it in that long. The person who commented below is incorrect. Olaplex has some protein in it, but what it basically does is to repair the existing protein in your hair.

wash your hair with shampoo, towel dry, no conditioner, no other products.

You don't know what clean hair means? If no products in your hair just spray hair with bottle of water to dampen it, apply No3 then rinse and shampoo/conditioner.
